Jesus fuck these crashes are driving me nuts. I just had one that added random ear-raping static to the frozen screen. And there I was with headset on. Joy.

I wish I could help you Echo, I've played this game for a long time, on a couple different computers and have never experienced any issues like those.

Have you checked the tech support area on the official forums? The forums are actually not nearly as bad as a typical MMO forum. I've posted there quite a bit, and people are relatively decent.

I'll have a look there. Apart from the crashes I'm digging it, and I think I'll stick around until SW:TOR hits.

Decided to throw some cash their way and bought the Savage archetype and some mecha-bird costume parts.

    So here's Harridan.

I'm really digging this game, even if I'm only doing the F2P bit. I made two characters, one to play with my wife and one to play by myself (since I want to keep playing but I don't want to outlevel her). I think teleport is my favorite travel ability so far and I use it constantly.

Who the hell are you fighting? Jack of Fools?

Because if you're fighting Jack of Fools, his super attack has a tell, and when you see it you need to run the fuck away from him. Frankly, if he's not one-shotting you with that attack then you have *a lot* of health.

My normal strategy for fighting him is to spam pets (if available) and kite him around the room. If you can fly it's even easier. He has a pull-to attack but he doesn't use it at the same time as the uber-attack. So just fly out of reach and attack him, and then when he pulls you put the distance back between you as soon as possible.

The only other super villain I can think of who summons duplicates is Medusa, and she's in a level 19 mission so I doubt that's who you're up against (have fun when you meet her though, she's the first genuinely challenging solo boss fight you meet in a mission outside of adventure packs).

Yeah, it was Jack. Only 7-8 deaths where I ran in and got instagibbed. :P

There's a "safe mode" in the launcher options that knocks all video details down to minimum. I'm running with that now and just bumped up the viewing distance. No crashes so far, knock on wood.

Looks like poop from a butt though.

Is it a driver issue? I know the game is graphics intensive, but I doubt you're running a system so weak that everything needs to be turned all the way down.

Well they don't have to use the Archetypes, you can freeform your powers. I think they also get given some free Atari points every month to spend on stuff in the store.

My Savage archetype is pretty fun. I'm playing with a buddy that's Inferno archetype - I try to tank, he nukes shit down (and then dies).

We had some issue in the Aftershock #1 bunker where we couldn't get into the room with the last boss both at once - the door locked the encounter so whoever clicked after the first guy didn't get in.

So I soloed him. Woo, Regeneration.

this lists the bonuses for subscribing http://www.champions-online.com/f2p_matrix
The big ones for me are custom Archetypes, more character slots, option to colour powers, access to adventure packs and the monthly stipend (around 400 atari points/per month?)
I got the lifetime membership last time it went on sale, figured it was less than I had spent on WoW over the years.

    EDIT: misread your question.
There are a handful of travel powers you still have to purchase, all of which are cosmetic upgrades to one of the ones you get as part of your Sub.
Same deal with costumes, Subs get more than F2p but there are still quite a few classified as "premium" that have to be purchased if you want them.
    I think thats about it.

It defaults to the difficulty setting of the party leader, but the mission difficulty can be reset by leaving the instance, changing the group's diff setting and then heading back in.

And as I said in an earlier post, the normal difficulty is really aimed at archetypes and the higher ones at freeform. I don't imagine anything on elite would be particularly fun with an archtype character unless you were in a group that had some support characters and a tank.

We did. It didn't reset and stuck to Elite until we dumped the quest and picked it up again.

Welp, couldnt finish Luther Black in the Demonflame with just the two of us - if it had just been a tank and spank fight we could probably have done it, but you need to keep stuff off the Demon Key and I just don't have any threat generation as a Savage archetype with my build. I could spec for it, I suppose, but a proper tank would be better.

    Oh well, fun times.

Unless they fixed it (they do plan to) there is a 1 man, 3 man, and 5 man version of Luther Black. Duos and 4-man teams get the higher level one, which makes it extremely difficult or impossible for even numbered groups to complete that part. The typical strategy for a duo is to split up before the final battle and have each person solo their fight to complete the mission. 4-man teams don't usually happen unless someone leaves mid-way, if you're making a group that size people tend to just grab 5 people.

Yes, this is stupid. Yes, people have complained. The response was "We will make it in the future so there is an appropriate instance of the battle for each possible group number, or barring that make it round down instead of up."

Level 17: Massacre -- Bloody Mess, Rank 2
    Level 22: Supernatural Power
Level 27: Howl -- Make Them Tremble, Rank 2

Yeah, they are in fact intensely gimped compared to freeforms. Even if your freeform takes the exact same things in the exact same order, they get more powers faster and more overall points. Plus most of the archetypes bury game-changers at the end of the build

Counterpoint: Most of the game content is trivially easy with a well designed freeform unless the player deliberately creates a weakness in his build or bases his build off a strict concept that inherits such weaknesses.

ATs have conceptual weaknesses, and the game provides a better level of challenge for them.
