Now only $20!Saddle up, soldier, we've got some Nazis to kill!
The Outfit is a vastly underrated game...for $20. At the $60 price-point it got what it deserved. This thread will attempt to honestly talk about The Outfit and get some of you homps to go pick up a copy so we can do some multi.
Graphics
They aren't all that pretty. They aren't bad, mind you, but they certainly don't seem next-gen.
Controls
Short of the immense confusion driving a tank can bring about the controls are rather solid. Telling your squad of four guys to lay down suppression fire, charge a vehicle with sticky bombs, or gas enemies who are hiding behind cover is rather rewarding. The "Destruction on Demand" menu works great in-game for calling in reinforcements, vehicles, air strikes, or stationary weapons. Best part is you can have a tank parachuted on top of your enemies, crushing them
to death.
De-de-destruction!
Everything in this game can be destroyed. Buildings can have holes punched in them by tank shells, set on fire with a flamethrower, and generally reduced to piles of rubble. Hiding behind sandbags doesn't guarantee you are safe if the enemy calls in an anti-tank gun and blows those sandbags away.
Single-player
Its more fun than some would leave you to believe. Being able to switch between three characters helps keep it fresh (at least a 4th character becomes available later). The negative comes with repetitive maps. The maps themselves aren't all that bad but having to capture strategic points each map to unlock more powerful weapons makes it feel repetitive. I have no idea how long it is, though I'd peg it around 8-10 hours if I had to guess.
Co-Op
It has this! WOOO! It is actually fun, too. The waves of enemies increase a great deal so get a buddy and kill twice as many Nazis.
Vs. Multiplayer
I have never tried it but, honest to god, I think it could be great. A real fun arcadie Battlefield kind of feel to it. I hear there is a MP demo available on live. A free map pack was also released.
Achievements
Personally I feel this game has the best SP Achievements so far because the majority aren't for beating a stage but instead for doing something extra that actually makes sense, like destroying all the barrels of Axis fuel in one stage, knocking down Axis propaganda, or ensuring at least 90% of an advanced paratroop squad survives. They issue these as medals and citations at the end of the stage, which is a nice touch. They come naturally and give you a reason to replay a mission.
Conclusion..because I have to leave work in four minutes.
I'm enjoying The Outfit far more than I thought I would. This is a solid game that deserves more love than it got. I'm also a solid man who deserves more multiplayer fun than I've gotten out of the game so far so make with the purchy-purch-purchase.
P.S. You turds owe me for all of the Live Arcade titles I've bought that everyone stopped playing after the first day. :P

How was the multiplayer? I've never done anything past co-op but it sounds good.
Wicked fun.
4 on 4 got laggy at times, but 3 on 3 was great. Feel free to send me a game invite if you see me online. I'm always willing to opo this one in...
The Outfit is actually good, though, so toss it in sometime.
I'm in the same boat.
Although, my dad got the game for free when he bought his 360, so maybe he'll want to give it a try on co-op sometime.

It's really great fun once you get some heavy anti-armor and machine gun emplacements near a crucial spot. The battles are intense. I also think they did a pretty good job of implementing a strategy game into a 3rd person shooter. (or vice versa).
Sneaky. and yet, I feel so loved.

Its me or the graphic engine is really similar to the company of heroes one?
I know it supports split-screen and co-op over live but I'm not sure if it has system-link.
I feel kinda guilty about it now.
I utterly schooled them in the multiplayer, which I thought was pretty well done but I wouldn't want to touch it online, really difficult to tell how well you're doing.
I also grew kind of sick of the campaign in co-op only 4 missions deep, it started to feel like I was playing the old Army Men games, just mowing down continuous baddies with no real difficulty or improvement to units or strategies. Decent game, well worth the $20 but I can see why it didn't fare terribly well in the ratings at launch.
That being said, it's a solid game, but there's nothing outstanding about it outside of the RTS elements.
Well yeah, but come on. This game let you spawn waves of men to assault fortifications. Waves of men. Think about that for a second. The only game to sport the kind of numbers you could get in here was Dynasty Warriors. It's kind of odd that they never officially implemented it though, considering that the 360 obviously has no problems rendering that many soldiers.
Anyways, the game itself is kind of average, but if you know how to abuse some of the bugs you can really make this game last for awhile. Plus, the story is completely mental in a horribly boring sort of way. If you're seriously considering picking it up I wouldn't pick it up for the gameplay. It gets boring about half-way through the game and the one time the game tries to "refresh" your repetoire of tactics it fails horribly. So it's pretty much the same thing all the way through the game. What you should get it for is the hilarious/awesome unfixed (Hopefully) bugs.
