It's that time of year again, and time for the traditional E3 Keynote thread.

- The old thread said there was only going to be one thread. This is no longer true.

FyreWulff's suggestions for this year to keep things speedy:

- No gigantic GIF posting inline; please link
- No Youtube embedding (save that for the specific game threads)

Fyre will attempt to transcribe the keynote into the IRC room as usual, but if you want to do so yourself you are welcome to attempt it.

I basically copied your Microsoft summary in brief, the detailed stuff is for the individual threads, and trying to keep opinions out of it. I need to find in-order summaries of the other conferences now.

I missed EA's keynote altogether because my satellite TV was freaking out and not allowing G4 to come up in time.

Just got through watching Ubi's conference.

So that lazer tag thing is as lame as it looks right? Some crappy peripherals that won't really be that fun because your house isn't big enough.

Also I think I've had enough dance and fitness games for a lifetime. Oh hey look you can jog on the spot in front of your tv. Or go outside and do the same thing for free.

Someone at Ubi thinks he invented laser tag.
Assassin's Creed some more, looked pretty cool.
There's a breathing game. Literally, all you do is controlled breathing.
Rayman is back, 2D, HD, looks BEAUTIFUL.
Trackmania has spawned a sequel called... fuck I forgot. Something Mania. It has Track, Shooter, and Quest (RPG) Mania in it.
Ubi wrapped things up with a fuckin' Michael Jackson song dance performance with no context.
New Ghost Recon shown.
Project Dust.

Okay there's the Ubi list, but it's missing a thing or two still. And you can take out the opinion shit from it. <_<

Assassin's Creed, Project Dust, and Rayman were the highlights of the Ubisoft show for me.

Quoting meself, since the old thread is just about done and predictions talk is likely to continue:

If we're all doing predictions, I'll throw out a few.

PSP2, probably including some sort of motion control (tilt sensors) and a camera built in. Still has physical media, since the PSPGo "experiment" was a colossal failure. Also has a second analogue stick.
3DS launch showing off new mario kart, animal crossing, and one other key nintendo franchise. Fingers crossed for Starfox.
Vitality sensor redesigned to either be able to be used in tandem with a nunchuck or incorporated into a new nunchuck design entirely.
Move to have a lower percentage of direct wii ripoffs, but not by much (hell, the huge kevin butler poster has him using a bow and arrow in the exact manner of wii sports resort)
The actor who plays Kevin Butler hosting the event, but only in small bursts, so he can stay in character.
No announcement of a WiiHD, Pachter to be heard weeping from the audience.
New wiiremote announced with motion plus built in.
Sony will push 3D so hard it will physically hurt. There'll probably be a game that uses both move AND 3D, so the depth detection that move can do comes into play.
New Sly Cooper game to come out next year, the collection is to build hype.
PS2 downloads for PS3 and PSP2 announced.
Showing off the new Move and 3D aspects of Gran Turismo 5.
Lightsabre game for Move also.

And a few random, unlikely to occur predictions:

Nintendo show off a camera attachment for Wii, eyetoy style.
Metroid Dread is finally made a reality.
FF7 remake for 3DS.
Gran Turismo 5 is actually done this time, for reals.

Oh and as for the Michael Jackson thing, I'd bet it's Just Dance with an MJ skin.

Back at the apartment I lived in in California, my roomies and friends and I would play with NERF guns in the house. GROWN MEN DID THIS. It was great.

This sort of thing would actually be welcome to us. The only bad thing about it is that Ubi presented it as like "Oh yeah, we totally invented this." Well, and their presentation for the conference was kinda bad too. <_<

The Trackmania thing -> Maniaplanet. The notion being that they're going to take the player-created content angle of Trackmania, extend it naturally into Trackmania 2, then add on Shootermania and Questmania, respectively FPS and RPG genres.

I know this is going to make me sound like a heathen, but I didn't really like the Rayman trailer. Animation seemed very choppy, which looks tres bad in a 2d animated game.

There's a chance it could've been your stream. I was watching it on television and it was flawless.

I wouldn't go that far. Microsoft did set the bar pretty low, but not impossibly low.

Still, since I have absolutely no expectations for Nintendo's conference, I suppose I'll be happy if they show even one game I'd really quite like to get at some point.

I am hopeful. The trailer I watched, Rayman's slap attack seemed to consist of like 3 frames total and I wasn't impressed. But I did only gloss over Oobi's conference this morning over coffee, since I missed it last night.

Man I wish I'd been around in the PA chat for the awkward white boxes, laser tag, and breathing game.

I get that they need to hire some kind of host because Ubi's chief whatever sounds like a mangled puppy, but could they just get someone that sounds competent rather than someone attempting to and not being humourous.

Edit: That's right, the skateboarding game which combines a "AGAINST THA MAN" theme with the ability to "change" your environment. By which I mean you jump your skateboarder onto the neon green lines, then scribble around with the analog stick. It would almost be interesting if after you did your little 'custom line' it morphed into part of looking like the world, but it just hangs there, neon green wiggly line.

I know, me too. It's just, after that plane mode in wii sports resort, I really hoped they were hinting at something that was coming.

I'll buy em when there is actually something "innovative" to use them with, not just what seems to be HD versions of games on other systems/similar peripherals.

Kinect is growing on me a bit. Q? entertainment's new Rez game helped a lot with that. If they can utilize the body-matching well enough to literally let me control an entire character down to stance and movements, I might buy into it.
