Hardware aside, I hope Nintendo pulls out all the stops for the 3DS Launch lineup. I have always longed to see Nintendo release a system with Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games available on day one. Even if some of those are ports(Like a cleaned up 3D OoT would be most sexcellent or my aforementioned wish of Super Mario Sunshine 3D with more levels). Most importantly, I want Metroid Dread as a 3DS launch title if it still exists.
Honestly, right now both Nintendo AND Sony would have to faceplant pretty hard to do worse than Microsoft in my eyes. As long as Nintendo shows new footage of some of the games we know are coming, I think they'll be okay, and Sony just has to demo Move without looking like absolute tools or being condescending assholes and they should be fine.
Is it foolish to get my hopes up with the new Zelda game?
I have been disappointed in every Zelda game since Majora's Mask, even though I did love them.
But they've been working on the new Zelda for four years, right? That's how long it took to make Ocarina of Time, the most magnificent achievement in human civilization. And they must have been spending that time incorporating motion control into the gameplay (rather than tacking it on with TP), right?
Right???

Miyamoto usually makes sure that his two babies turn out high quality.
As it stands maybe not every Zelda has been up to everyone's standards, but they have all been of high quality.

I hate to dissapoint you, but with an attitude like that you'll never be satisfied.
Sony is already in pretty good position over Microsoft in showing games for Move vs. Kinect... and that's just taking SOCOM 4 and the street fight game into consideration. At least they have already shown games that will interest customers outside of the casual sector.
Kotaku is running a liveblog I believe. Thats the only one I know of offhand.

Haha, that would truely be the miracle of e3. I swear, it's like every year at this point now. For some reason I actually think they have a shot this year though. Maybe that god-awful Microsoft conference will give them some confidence to not suck.
As long a they keep a decent level of challenge to the Zelda games, I will be fine with them. They seem to have come back to that with TP. OOT and WW were too easy.
I can't wait to see Dead Space 2, thats a good choice to get me to buy Move. Loved the first Dead Space, Loved the Wii Shooter, keep it up and the move is so bought.

I don't expect this one to be any different.
Yes, but...
Remember in Ocarina of Time when you had your first 3-D swordfight with a Stalfos and you were like, holy shit I've never done anything like this in a videogame this is fucking awesome! and then also in the Forest Temple those twisting hallways, omg that's level design that couldn't even exist in 2-d, and all the other shit that was completely and totally new and changed the way we interact with videogame worlds forever ... and then every Zelda game since has basically been an elaboration on that new experience?
I was SO DISAPPOINTED that the Wii didn't give us a new experience, beyond the superficial one in Wii Sports. Is it too much to ask for another revolution 12 years after OoT? IS IT???
Edit: apologies, did not realize there was a Zelda thread!
Nintendo and Sony would have to come out on stage, introduce ball-in-a-cup, and still try VERY hard to do worse than Ubisoft last night.
To do worse than Microsoft, there would have to be some serious celebrity disconnects (worse than Justin-fucking Bieber, which is tough, I know) and some hardware failures occurring during demos. Both Nintendo and Sony should have strong showings just from expectations and recently released media. Who will steal the show? Hard to say. MS didn't really drop any serious hype-bombs yesterday. Halo: Reach, MGS: Rising and X360 Slim were probably the pinnacle of the show, and they were good, but not showstopping.
Nintendo and Sony could have an easy ace in the hole with any number of big projects they managed to keep secret. I'm optimistic.

Just a reminder guys: I am currently in and will be liveblogging from Nintendo. If you can't get a stream or want a slightly more intimate, small-scale liveblog where questions actually get answered, this may be the place.

Hey, I have a blog! (Actually being updated again!)

What was good about the MS Conference?
ESPN partnership, Halo and Gears are looking good.
Edit - Oh and Slim 360 is out and $299 like the original model.
Hell, it'll be fun at least.
I don't think they're worried about stealing the show.
Gears of War 3, Halo: Peach, ESPN
Some people are upset that Microsoft didn't announce more new 'core' games.
Those people are idiots, because an E3 press conference isn't the place to win core gamers, but whatever.
Bribery.

I share a 360 with my room'ate, but I only ever play it for Rock Band. I get motion sickness from first person shooters.
But if MS were to develop, say, a WIZARD DUELING game...
Trying to figure out where the GiantBomb guys are hanging... probably on the twitters.
At the end of the day, people don't give as much a shit about that as they're pretending to.
