Up till 12:30 last night playing 4 playing Anarchy/Horde mode. The stages with the grinders (Meat Grinder combo) and the train (Midnight Express combo) are awesome. Some of the early levels we would be +10K from what the group score would be. Some of the later levels would come down to nailing the last team combo to push us over the required score.
You can control a lot of the game settings (AI and such) through those INI files thus allowing you to get insanely high scores in those Echo challenge maps.
It was their lazy attempt to keep people from cheating.

So wait, can you play Anarchy mode with others without buying the Online Pass? The game says if you use the Pass you get some maps or whatever, but it doesn't say you can't play at all if you don't.

The Dam seems to be the easiest map to me. Lots of tight funnels for AE, easy access to things to throw people into.
Desert/mancrush map seems the hardest so far. The things to toss people into are small targets, and a lot of wide open space. You get a lot of pointless kills there from missing your kick target (I tend to pull/kick them into the hanging shockers, only to actually kick them way over and having them land harmlessly for 10 points.)

Yeah, Adrian Chmielarz confirmed that's why they attempted to encrypt the INI files at the last minute. He's sent out a few tweets admitting it wasn't the best decision, and said that possibly at some point in the future they'll separate and unlock the INI files for editing - at least, for things like video settings, controls, etc.
I managed to finally wrangle the game into submission last night. GFWL doesn't need to be online save for the final authentication, but you can't use an offline profile. You basically need to fail to connect to GFWL with your live enabled account to get into online mode. I set up my firewall to block the connection, so now I can play without the disruption of live in the background.
Additional important note for PC users: There is some REALLY weird issue with 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions. If I'm using 1680 x 150 resolution, my GPU can only use about 50% of its capacity, and my framerate sucks. If I switch to a 16:9 resolution, things look letterboxed, but my GPU can use >90% of its capacity, and framerates are much, much better - even with AA cranked all the way up.
The game looks gorgeous, and plays really smooth once tweaked. The cost of entry on the PC was high, but after getting the kinks ironed out, it certainly is a fun experience. I'm still getting the hang of the skillshot system, though. My first instinct is to just leash and bulletkick everyone. Is there a good way to practice the skillshots anywhere? Or is it just sort of something you do as you go along?
You don't practice skillshots, man. They just ARE.
But really, bullets are for blowing up objects. If you find yourself pumping rounds into a dude, you're doing something wrong imo. Mostly because bullet kicks/headshots are worth half the points of just throwing dude into a nearby spike/plant/water/whatever. The pistol is nice if you can pull off the shots, but the basic idea is to find a nearby explosive whatever, toss it into them and go nuts.
Campaign wise: all the prior chatter dies when you meet a later enemy type. At which point, SHOTGUNS AHOY.

As far as the 360 goes, it seems like it's just pop the disc in and go. I did enter in the code that comes with the game to get the free 25k MP XP and it also popped a Gears 3 beta selection onto the main menu (not selectable yet). I didn't try MP before entering that code, so not sure if that was an online passcode as well.
PRetty sure you gotta have the code to actually play co-op online. That or fork over the 10 bucks. It's EA's policy now to charge for multiplayer to cash in on all the used game sales.
My go to end game combo was the flail and drill. I loved the shotty too, but I tended to run ammo dry very fast with it, and its no the best ranged weapon in the game, worked awesome on the burnouts though.

Shotgun made me wonder why the burnouts were supposed to be scary.
End game.. just, nothing really packed the punch I'd come to expect from it. Things walked away from flail hits.
Well it was nice when things took more to go down, meant you could chain more kills. My favorite weapon that I absolutely don't get much points out of is the sniper. Bullet curving to targets is just hilarious, but usually only nets me a +10.

I could never get the sniper nutshot. Headshots seemed pretty easy though. I also had issues with the "kill someone other than your target" one, since if you veer more than a few degrees off it instantly ends and seems to detonate the bullet.
Letterbomb is the most hilarious charge skillshot ever, as well.

Yeah, but both players get points when you do bullet kick+double penetration/das boot + individual bonus for headshot/rear entry. Only one person gets points for tossing them into the environment.
Who knows. Maybe they somehow connected it to piracy or something.
If someone wants to pirate their game, no amount of security is going to stop them. I feel like developers should realize this by now. Oh well, I certainly can't blame them for trying.
Without knowing anything about skill shots (or even knowing a little from the demo), this thread is hilarious. See post above mine, and remove context.

You should get team points if one person picks up/kicks, the other punts into the environment.
edit: I used the cannonball like, twice, it didn't do shit for damage or go anywhere I wanted it to, and I've never touched it since.

Echoes mode is making my OCD flare up, I swear to god. I think I just played the Rooftops level 15 times because someone on my Friends list had the AUDACITY to be first place on my friend leaderboard and FUCK THAT NOISE.
But now I have 12,745 points in it and I'm #18 in the world. I should be happy with this.
...
But those other 17 fucks above me GRAAHHH I MUST EXTRACT MORE POINTS FROM THE BLOOD-FILLED PINATAS
Edit: How did the #1 guy on Rooftops squeeze 22,000?! WHAT VILE WIZARDRY IS THIS?!
At least we get the 2 echo, which is what? 8-10 minutes of fresh single-player content.
That depends on your personal level of OCD. You might get upwards of an hour per level if someone on your Friends list has a score that you just can't seem to hit.
I've actually found the easiest way to get rear entry is either on bosses, or off a slide kick. It was hard getting it on the burnouts, but I came across one that was like stuck? And managed to pull it off.
Favorite kill I've gotten was a shishkabob x4 twisted. Drill gunned a line of 4 dudes into a wall of spikes.

Tip for Mercy: wrap them up with the flail first, then use the PMC.
Also, make sure your retard AI buddies aren't anywhere near, because they'll shoot the guy and knock him out of the "ow my balls" animation.
In fact, the flail is perfect for any "shoot this body part" skillshot, as it keeps them standing and immobile. This also includes minibosses.
And speaking of minibosses, the cannon miniboss has a fatal flaw: the cannonballs work the same for him as they do for you. What this means is that if he shoots a cannonball at you, you can always kick it back at him for explosions and extra points.

This was the hardest fucking part. 9 times out of 10 I was rambo, but any fucking time I got someone ready for a mercy kill one of those assholes would mess it up.

One shot that didn't seem hard to do but took me forever was drilling a guy into the ground.
pleasepaypreacher.net
also getting a guy airborne, charge drilling him, and then kicking him into someone else
also getting multiple snapshots in a row with the pistol
...actually those two and three cannonball ones are the only weapon-related skillshots I have yet to get, guess I know what I'm working on today

30-45 minute of single-player content would be worth $10.
DLC adding an actual multiplayer mode would be worth even more.
are you kidding me? wow.
next, we'll find out these maps are based on a previous bulletstorm game.
at least tell me that its more than 5 maps
