Sorry to be a pain in the ass but I just got home from work and have spent the last 20 minutes drooling over DKC2.0 and looking for the Nintendo conference video (the whole thing) alternatively.
Does such a beast exist or do I have to piece it together.
Man, Mario Dodgeball could be so sweet if they got the dudes who did the Kunio-Kun games for feedback and advice and shit. I wonder how good the Wii can do face demolotion physics.
Well, if we're to judge by stuff like BoomBlox, who was a little simple cheap shovelgame out for like 20 bucks and had pretty satisfying "Jenga tower demolishing" moments, I'm guessing Nintendo could make some decent stuff if they tried. Doubt they will, though.

I still can't get over how a handheld, especially one that Nintendo is releasing looks to have superior graphics to anything we've seen on the Wii so far.
Then again it's not like the Wii's abilities are exactly pushed either.

I wouldn't go as far to say the 3DS has greater graphic capability than the Wii, come on. It's certainly impressive for a handheld, but it's not that powerful.

The DS can already pump out N64 level graphics. The 3DS looks to be maybe Gamecube level, but not quite. I'd peg it around say early Dreamcast.
To me it looks like it has Wii-level graphics, but playing to different strengths. Some aspects are better than Wii and some are worse. It looks like shaders and more advanced effects are easier to pull off on it (self-shadowing on the SSF4 shots). This can be inferred because the screens from devs who have worked a lot with advanced rendering look so much nicer than the ones from Nintendo, who has only had the Wii to work with.

Do you...do you even know what dreamcast LOOKED like?
Basically techtv reborn. Very good for technology stuff but gaming is not a real strong suit. For instance they were pretty harsh on the 3DS despite not being able to see it.
Umm, how the goose can you be harsh on something you haven't seen yet?
People do it all the time 'round these parts
Anyway, I've seen, held, and played around with the 3DS and it is everything the rumors have said except it's Avatar style 3D, not flying at your face 3D. So whatever bullshit complaints shitty tech blogs that haven't even seen it or have but are being gooses about it can go to hell. Gizmodo said it looked better than the Wii but not as good as the PSP, in the same sentence. Then they bitched about jaggies. They are absolutely retarded, just look at the Metal Gear and Resident Evil screens/footage. The graphics are phenomenal, crisp, and they look even better in person with the 3D going.
Man, you're awfully hostile toward a pair of articles that are extremely positive toward the 3DS. That being said, I've just read both of their write-ups and didn't see the PSP/Wii comparison in either, not to mention their criticisms fall in line with impressions from several other write ups too. Again, EXTREMELY positive with with some caveats. Damn, apparently ecstatic just isn't quite excited enough :?
Really looking forward to seeing what other worlds/characters they have in there. I love the detail it sounds like that team went into to really just dig back into Disney's archives for really obscure stuff. I just wish they had shown more of the 2D level. The Steamboat Willy part they showed during the press event visually looked beautiful, but gameplay looked a little sparse.

But I'd wager that MGS3D runs at less than 30fps, while MK3DS is a solid 60. That's probably a better explanation for why the Nintendo ones don't look as good.

Probably. I was also thinking about this more, and it's possible Mario Kart has loaded the entire level and every racer at once, rather than the relatively smaller environment of a single MGS zone.

One of the previews said that Mario Kart had a nice area where you could see a lot of the track.

Pilotwings has a good excuse too. The screenshots of that aren't too pretty, but it's a flying game. It has to be able to show you the entire environment if you decide to fly high or far enough.

That's kind of like a bottom-of-the-barrel reason to buy it. I mean, not to jab at Mario Kart, but there's tons of other great shit coming out for it. <_<

Something just hit me. The 3DS would be my first cheap (assuming the price is under $300) 3D camera! They have 3D cameras in development right now that display their pictures on the new 3D frames they're working on. What are the odds you can export your 3DS pictures to these?

MK is my favorite Ninty franchise after Pokemon. I don't really care for most of the N64 stuff that PA goes goosey for.

Stereoscopic photography is actually nothing new at all. It has come in and out of favor with the public multiple times over the last 120 (or so) years.
Hell, you can make your own stereo camera by duct-taping two disposable cameras together.
I'm glad Nintendo has included it, but it's nothing new.

Oh man, if the online in Mario Kart DS can work as well as the online in Mario Kart Wii. The rolling recruitment system used in that game is a thing of joy.

I'm talking about the digital versions they've been working on in the past few years. I know I could use the double image gimmick to to steroscopic, but what I'm talking about is based on the Smart's 3D panels and the cameras that store the image file that works with them.

I'm just hoping that Pokemon Black/White will be programmed to work with the 3DS so we can get some 3D pokemon battles going. :P

I would be surprised if the 3DS wouldn't allow you to save 3D pictures as two jpegs on the SD card slot.
Going from dual .jpg to the 3D frame would not be on Nintendo's shoulders.
edit: Where is the DS announcements? Was anything new announced for the old DS at Nintendo's press conference? More Golden Sun was nice.
Since 3DS support DS games and DS has such an enormous install base, you would guess it would have a long tail. Has there been any talk of hybrid DS games with 3DS support. Similar to the black cartridge GameBoy games which worked fine in the 1st generation GameBoy, but had added color when inserted into the GameBoyColor.

I don't understand the difference. You're still taking two images, then combining them on a viewing device that brings out the 3D.
I mean, I get what you're saying about it being cheap 3D camera, but to me, unless I'm missing something, the Sharp 3D display is basically your modern day stereoscopic viewer.

Hey, is the 3DS keeping the microphone? I assume it would have to in order to maintain backwards compatibility with the several DS games that required it, but I don't see it on the display models or in the specs.
If it does... It'll be a handheld with two screens (one touch screen and one 3D screen), a 3D camera, motion controls AND a microphone.
And yet I still most want to play games that require none of those additions (MGS3D).

Um... doesn't work for me. I get a static screen of "Stay Tuned!". Aw.
On the right. "View Presentation".

Me neither, I never cared for any of the console Mario Karts after 64, but Mario Kart DS was ace.
I will probably buy a 3DS for Mario Kart
Meh. Only if they fix the snaking issue.
Didn't they do that in Mario Kart Wii?
That's kind of like a bottom-of-the-barrel reason to buy it. I mean, not to jab at Mario Kart, but there's tons of other great shit coming out for it. <_<
Remains to be seen if they do it for the 3DS version though. If they build it using the MK:DS engine and don't 'fix' it. I'm not interested.
I am the goddamn consumer Nintendo wants
GBA (2001) = 1 screen = Second Pillar
DS (2004) = 2 screens = Third Pillar
3DS (2010)= 3 dimensions = Fourth Pillar
??? (2019 or 2022) = 4 ??? = Fifth Pillar?
Nintendo is building a Parthenon.
I'll wait for the third hardware revision where they get rid of DS support.
Kidding, day one purchase along with Martha Stewart 3D. Man oh man.
Fix as in reintroduce or fix as in remove?
Either way a lot of fans will be pissed. They always are >.>
