Ugh, that DKC looks really really... bland. I may be alone in this, but I absolutely loved the graphics in the SNES versions, they were smooth and polished, but also kinda gritty. This new game is JUST smooth and polished. Also too much 3d. I'd have prefered something akin to the upcoming Rayman Origins, but that's just me.
Also OoT remake... meh. Already have it on 2 consoles (N64 and cube and it's available for vc), no real point. For me anyway.
In a word, the technology was amazing. Actually, amazing doesn't even begin to describe what Jim and I just saw. Even Jim Sterling looked at me and couldn't believe what he was seeing. The hype is correct: 3D. No glasses. The images do not just fall back into the screen as some people thought. They come out at you. IN 3D! WITH NO GLASSES! It is absolutely surreal.

What the hell do you mean no point?
3D!
The very definition of adding value to a port.
But it's still the same game we've been playing for 10 years. Just buying it because it's 3d is like buying Links Awakening when it came out for Gameboy Color. It's still the exact same game, only a little shinier. The 3d aspect though seems like even less of a jump. I'd much prefer a new game or a remixed OoT (redesigned dungeons, etc) but a straight port? Nah.
Wow. It's almost like Nintendo won the conference by focusing on the games they're busting out rather than on booth babes & bullshit.
It's really almost like that.
Not according to some people. Nintendo has booth babes and apparently that makes Nintendo less respectable. Because you know. Women around nerds is a treason against nerd-kind, or whatever.
Nintendo had booth babes that wore clothing that covered most of their bodies, and actually did something other than stand around and be ogled. So I'd say that's an overall win for Nintendo in the respect department.

So what would their opinion be if it was all men with the demo units?
they got to show off the damn machines somehow. What do you expect, robots?

Oh, I have no doubt that Nintendo had booth babes - but the lovely ladies weren't all that they brought to E3 with them, which is was I was getting at.
Seriously, I don't ask for much. By all means, bring on the boobies. Just make sure that they're not the only reason I'd have for taking a look at your set-up.

There are plenty of ways that Nintendo can make sure their hardware is safe and secure short of physically tethering them to employees, regardless of the hotness level of said employees.

Sure, but the idea is that these people will walk the floor. Can't do that with a stand-up unit.
it was probably the best possible way.

Oh no, you misunderstand, I haven't played it. I'm just basing my observations on the limited screenshots we've seen and the other remake projects (Kirby: Nightmare in dreamland, Super Mario 64 DS, Kirby's Super Star DS) that turned out in a similar manner to the way I described.
Im still waiting for some company to go balls deep on having booth dudes for for the 50% female, 6% gay male population. I know those arent exactly the figures for gamers in general, as a lot of gamers are straight guys....
But come on... how about one cute guy strapped to a 3ds, or vice versa? Please? Just one?
Hell i appreciate that they bring out the Reggie eye candy at least ( when he took off the burnt jacket... i swear i swooned ).
That all said... Nintendo has an impressive show. And it seemed to be all business, with a few entertaining things like the video of Miyamoto, Iwata, and Fils aime being sucked into the thing ( i lold... hard ).
Their show was hands down one of the most impressive i had ever seen at E3, with a very straight forward no bullshit attitude.
And for once, it seemd like they were catering to gamers. In the past few years they really seemed to be eating up the casual market and focusing on them. But this years E3 for nintendo seems like a back to roots sorta thing. Almost like they remember us.
While Microsoft and Sony are concentrating on doing knock offs of the competition ( even if Kinect or move are more advanced knock offs ) Nintendo laid it out there. Good games, good technology.
Its a shame the Zelda demo didnt go so well, cause the on the floor impressions of the game have been magnificent.

That seems to be more or less what Starfox 64 is, which is awesome.

Nintendo just made this otherwise meh generation worthwhile for me.
Oh yes, and have every game you have ever wanted in your life from now until the end of time"
