Yeah, but some of the people we were starting to get to play with us don't have the Mythic disc. Also you know as well as I do that Longshore is going to barely show up because it only has a slim chance of beating the odds out:
I think it's more of an issue that a space battle map would be a one trick pony, since you could only pretty much use it for space battles.
I had an idea in the last thread regarding the Invasion playlist.
First tier is a bunch of Spartans in fighters trying to board an orbital satellite. Covvys can either be in turrets or Banshees. Step one would be for the Spartans to blow up a shield generator so they can board. They board in a hanger where their fighters spawn and Covvys can't camp (for whatever logical reason)
Second tier involves stealing something (plans, information, key personnel, etc). Everyone is on foot at this point going through hallways (think Deathstar style)
Third tier is making it back to the hanger to get the item back to earth.
Bam! Invasion map implemented with space battling.
I think I've only played it a dozen times or so, and can't remember actually having fun on it. It seems like it has too much of a "oops you lost the initial weapon rush, game over" aspect to it. Not enough wiggle room to recover bad situations.

Honestly, I don't think many of us could answer this appropriately, because none of us have really had extensive play on it, in an 8v8 scenario to judge it.
Yeah, Longshore is a good map in theory (it is essentially Hang Em High), but the amount of TEAM games we've played on it is so low that it's quite sad.
Which is ironic, considering that the Hang Em High remake in Halo 2 ended up in the same situation: came out at the end of the game's life, underplayed, never really got to know it.

Huh, if it's Griffball this weekend then I might be able to get Lightswitch finally.
And Griffball isn't crap, it's the only game where I can win with some consistency, like playing paintball with "Revolutionary" rules (no hopper and everyone stands in 2 sets of lines about 50 ft apart, puts one paintball in the marker, then everyone "ready, aim, FIRE!" Then the survivors walk forward 10 paces and repeats.)

The only reason I call it crap is because the hammer is sooo damned inconsistent and then latency comes into play-Essentially making it *Host* ball.
It might actually be playable on reach but eh. It's old and tired now.

Or the arbitration server got fucked up and was awarding people Custom Game exp (which you wouldn't see, because the game doesn't have hooks to display it).
Custom Game is actually set as a playlist internally for Halo for Bungie.net tracking purposes.

So I'm kinda happy, just got 2 killimanjaros in a single Griffball game. So there's an extra 25 points but, Question: does Lieutenant grade 2 come before or after Lieutenant? Cause my overall rank is Lt g2, but I didn't get Lightswitch. Or does it have to be in a single playlist and not overall?

Honestly, the best way to get lightswitch is find a regular playlist you like and just grind it and find some other people who want that playlist too.

Truth. I play social team slayer with friends all the time, we just earned it naturally.
You may have noticed the “MLG FFA” shaped hole in Matchmaking.
MLG FFA’s removal is the first step in preparing Halo 3 for Reach’s release. Between now and the day Reach is in your trembling hands we’re going to actively downsize and concatenate Halo 3’s matchmaking lineup. What does this mean?
1. Playlists are going to be combined, modified, or removed, based on how we predict they will perform once Reach is released. Ultimately the number of playlists will be reduced from its current number.
2. No new playlists will be added from this point onward.
3. Playlists will progressively become DLC required, leaving Social Slayer and Lone Wolves as the only DLC-optional playlists once again.
4. Double EXP weekends will come to an end on 9/13. But not before we throw them a little going away party.
5. 7 on 7th will live on, but beyond the release of Reach no further updates are planned for Halo 3 Matchmaking.
So there I was, playing through some Halo: Reach campaign, having a grand old time, marveling at how incredibly awesome the experience is – the setting, the sound, the encounters, the effects – and what should I spy out of the corner of my little eye? A proper sized trooper with a not-so-standard-issue Service Tag.
I should start by clarifying that we’ve gone ahead and assigned names to the Marines, Troopers, and ODST’s you fight alongside this time out. Some of them are aptly named after Bungie employees. As you assemble an impromptu fighting squad, you’ll be able to see the rank, name, and Service Tags of each friendly so you can keep track of ‘em and keep 'em alive.
I like this because it reminds me of our times playing co-op in halo 3 and trying to protect a sole ODST from a cruel fate and watching him do badass things. Now they have names!
Sort of a pressing question. Since I'm going to pick it up tomorrow morning probably.
Is Halo Wars the sort of game you need to have the manual for? Because I was going to pick it up used if not. Granted, console games in which the manual really brings something to the table are increasingly rare, but I wanted to ask. I'm guessing it won't make the least bit of difference.

No, it's got a pretty good training setup. You should be fine.
On one hand, the killing off of the DEXPs is unfortunate - I thought they would make them rotate into eternity. This also means Ranked Living Dead is probably not coming back.
On the other hand, this means Action Sack will stay alive, as that's the only playlist with Grifball in it.
Also, it's so fucking pointless to make matchmaking all DLC required again. Yes, let's require all DLC for a game with a shrinking userbase. The only way I agree with that move is if the Mythic userbase is in the EXTREME majority.
But at least my subscription runs through Maption Sack. I'll let myself go silver through Mythic Brawl weekend and renew for Social Living Dead so I can work on that Zombie General and Rocket Race General.
tl;dr should be noted that this means ranked Objective will finally die a proper death when Throwback no longer exists.

I'm also sad that 2v2 will be arena only (at least at the start)... this means we won't get to play 2v2 with objectives (the best part about doubles)
Visor... color.
Huh. Don't get me wrong, it's cool, but it's kind of "less" than an entire part of the armor, in terms of changing visual appearance.
