My friend has always been a proponent of the idea that Elites have different hitboxes. I've always tried to convince him that it's a player-generated idea driven by the Elites' different appearances.
Its an endless cycle.

So for those that refuse to believe that hitboxes are the exact same, what do those people say about the hole in the elite neck that you can shoot straight through?
They have the exact same hitboxes, but the Elite hitboxes are arranged in a slightly different way.
The Elite's head hitbox is slightly more forward than the Spartans (not forward and down like most people think). The only effect this has is a tiny zero hitbox area in the Elite's neck. It's possible to shoot and Elite in the neck and have the bullet go right through. It's possible but very rare.
Any other difference is psychological. If you miss a headshot on a Spartan running away, you just missed.... but since people think the Elites are harder to headshot from behind, everytime *they* miss a headshot, they blame it on hitboxes.
Edit: In Halo 2, the Elites had an extra hitbox for the neck. They ended up taking more damage from grenades/spray guns (smg). Bungie wanted to fix this for Halo 3, so they used the same hitboxes and made the Elites posture closer to a Spartans.

I'd just like to clarify that the hitboxes are different.
For the record, when I say that their hitboxes are the same, I'm talking about each individual box for every part of their body. Ex: the size and shape of the head hitbox is exactly the same.
Here are some screenshots from last night in ODST.
This was taken from the end of Uplift Reserve. The arrow shows the ledge we got up to:
It's hard to tell how tall the building is because there isn't anything around to compare it with. That.. and the fact that the building is floating above the ground:
At first, we used 1 grenade launches to try to get to the slanted part of the building (no success):
Then we used 2 grenades to launch... and got *slightly* higher. Note the size of the ODST at the top of the picture. Viscount is at the peak of his launch here... he is 8 seconds into this launch....:
We ended up using a smaller launch to land at the bottom of the building, then we used the elevator trick to climb up to the ledge shown in the first picture.
Also great was me and Rat elevatoring up to the top and failing, so we got killed by the fall timer and respawned in time to see our bodies hit the floor at 100mph.
Fun fact: the attempt that got us up there was all-or-nothing. I couldn't figure out if there was an invisible wall or just a specific jump required, so we had Viscount suicide on the final elevator attempt as a "one more try". So cue Viscount spawning in midair next to us a lot as we climb up, and me finally nailing the jump required to get over. If I had had fucked up again we would have had to start all over with the first jump up to the building.
Also one week from the marathon. What have I gotten myself into omg

I would but I was just giving Rat his someone's going to come in here and say they are different. If anything I hope people who were afraid to say something learned what everyone was talking about.
EDIT: I should be yellow and asking for toll.

I used to have a video of myself sniping in Camp Froman on Last Resort. I was aiming at a spartan that was on the rock wall. We were having a sniper duel. When I went back and watched the video, I clearly shot first, and I could see the bullet stream, and the blood leave my victim's head. Only it didn't actually register. His shields didn't even go down, and he got me with a quick double shot immediately afterwards.
Also, got the schedule pretty much finalized. Who wants to be my ODST and possibly 3 co-op and maybe Wars internet buddies?

In the interesting of showing more games, games will have set time blocks that I'll play them in and attempt to beat them in the alotted time, but once the time block is up I'll move on to the next game.
Also tommorow's DEXP is a mystery. No idea if it's going to be the July 4th DEXP Flag playlist or if it's going to be Grifball
EDIT: And also, the achievement scores for Durandal need to be taken out back and shot. I love the number 7 and all, but I don't need it fucking up my GS.
I have a similar problem with GRAW. Jesus, I hate having that two at the end.

Given that it doesn't seem likely that I'll instantly land into a job in the next two weeks, I'd be up for co-op ODST on Bungie Day, Fyre. Don't have Halo 3 anymore since most of us are done with its achievements and ODST's multiplayer disc.
What timezone are you in again? I'm fairly certain I'm two hours ahead of you, so ODST would be at 7:30 for me.

Beeb, instantly and "two weeks" don't really go hand and hand. :P
Iron Man 2 is the one that's fucking up my score. It gives you a really easy three-pointer at the start and then forces you to play the entire game for the counterpart of 7.

Well, there's the Two Points achievement in the Orange Box.
Then once you get the 7 score from IM2, you can get Vorticough and level it all out again.

What are the chances of Bungie going "Oh lol jk we gotz space battlers in MP here you go"
or just making it a separate further installment (DLC) like map packs etc.
Chances would probably be slim but still be pretty great

If there was any chance at all, they wouldn't have commented on it. If it's possible to add in DLC, they probably would have had it in the main game in the first place.

Snowblind, as much as I would like it- I'm betting the chances are slim to nil. I though it was officially said that it wouldn't be happening.
Also the vehicle is probably just simply too big to make it fun on anything other than space, which we still have banshees/falcons/whatever else for air battling.
Wait, is there supposed to be some sort of air-warthog equivalent?

I wonder how difficult it would have been to make a true "Boarding Action" map/remake using spacecraft. Something similar to Star Wars Battlefront where you have dogfights and troop transports to blow up the enemy's home base.

Well, they do crank every resource to make halo 3/odst/reach look great on the 360. I think a space battle halo will have to come later if ever.
I still wish they would bring halo 3 or even reach to the PC so we could mod it for space burtles
