I can't think of anything to say that doesn't make me sound like someone who complains about every week's DLC even though I haven't bought any in ages anyhow. Ah well. To the Nickleback fans, enjoy. I'm going to go back to waiting with futility for some metal and goth rock.
Oh, I'm a bit of a conundrum when it comes to DLC. There's a lot of DLC I would've bought immediately if it wasn't for the RB3 Pro Mode announcement. I'm really pumped for Pro Mode guitar and getting say..."Best of You" and knowing it won't have it kills it for me right now.

In all seriousness, have you ever considered picking up a real guitar and trying to learn it? There are more than enough tabs out there, especially if you get Guitar Pro, which you can use to play and adjust tempo\jump to bits ect and have tabs+proper sheet music above said tabs to learn easier.
The entire point of the pro modes is to get people to pick up guitars and try and learn their favourite songs so they could play it without Rock Bands guidance, just suggesting you skip the Rock Band step and just grab the DLC you want anyway.

Well yeah that's true. But I gotta be honest with myself; grabbing an instrument is a serious time commitment. And currently, between house work, my job and having a healthy relationship with my wife I don't see it happening. Rock Band is something we do together so it'd be nice if we could share something while I "learn" an instrument.

Ok, I can definitely see that. Would your wife consider learning an instrument with you though? Even if she just sings, in all seriousness it could be something you two also really enjoy together. My long term girlfriend and I are in a blues-rock band together, she is one of our lead singers and also plays harmonica, while I play bass and also double as backup vocals\lead vocalist depending on the song.
Seriously, it's some of the most fun we've had together in ages, despite the frustration it can cause at times.
Edit: Dehumanized, Creed is back you know. :P Mind you, they sound a lot better than they used to, so hey I can't really argue that point.
Double edit: Lionheart, just want to say I am not trying to diminish or put down ya Rock Band playing, I am just suggesting that you can have you cake and eat it too.
...man, Santa's going to explode with rage when he catches up with the thread, isn't he?
Honestly, I am looking forward to this.
I am expecting that a lot of it will be directed towards me as I seem to be the only Nickelback fan around here. Shame I am going away for the weekend and won't be able to reply.
So, night\morning all. Have fun raging about Nickelback. :P
...man, Santa's going to explode with rage when he catches up with the thread, isn't he?
Uh...why?
Sure, I think Nickelback sucks. But I dislike a bunch of stuff that available as DLC. Who cares?
Yeah, I give metal a bunch of shit, but I never claim it shouldn't be in the game. We all knew this day was coming. Picking at the low-hanging fruit isn't going to change it.
Frankly, I'll enjoy the 'backlash' more. Once I wake up from five hours sleep and actually go over there. I'll see if I can find anything sufficiently good for y'alls enjoyment. But if it isn't much better than what Unlucky posted, I'm not really going to bother.
The nhilism in me says this was perfect for a week when lots of folks were falling over themselves to proclaim that the 1000th DLC would be epic. Maybe one day they'll learn that either HMX doesn't care about miles stones...or that they, in fact, do.
Actually, Santa, dudes should hold off on buying the Sissyfuss tracks because they're planning on dropping the cost once HMX enables creators to do so.
EDIT - My bad, I mean "Surprise Me Mr. Davis tracks". I'll go grab a quote...

First, I don't think it's HMX that allows it. It's something to do with XNA.
Second, I believe anybody with content created and submitted through XNA can alter their prices up or down after six months. Might be three. And then can keep doing it every proper period.
I say, buy it now at $2. Give them a few extra bob for a track that gets no love otherwise. It's not like lowering the price is going to magically increase people's awareness for it.

I think we want to drop Sissyfuss from $2 to $1. When you crunch the numbers you can see that this songs price has probably effected sales. It has the lowest ratio of demo to sales and the overall sales are not that hot. If the demo played the middle of the song it might have done better. So we want to drop it and see how that goes.
...man, Santa's going to explode with rage when he catches up with the thread, isn't he?
Uh...why?
Because you got enraged when people said Creed was inherently terrible.
No. I got on your case because hating on Creed is picking the low-hanging fruit. I was 'active' at the time of that post so I responded right then. This time? After three pages go by (more activity than this thread had probably seen all week) I'm just kind of 'meh'. Bad luck for you. Sorry, dude.
So far, I'm not seeing much more on the Forums than has essentially been expressed here. It's actually quite dull to read through. It's either the passive-aggresive 'good for the fans' (with some form of 'air-quotes' whilst referencing the fans), or in the early pages of one thread 'the forums'll explode', or run-of-the-mill 'I hate that band'.
The complaints about Miley were better if only because it seems more pathetic to attack a young girl whose only crime is making music somebody didn't like. You'd think Nickelback, a band largely considered an insult to all that people hold dear, would inspire more creativity. Hell, at least Creed had the good sense to go away for a while.

So far, "Burn it Down" is the only one I want for being part of the Transformers soundtrack and the current RAW theme, plus the fact that it got the least ammount of airplay locally.

We're working on the price change interface right now. With luck It will be available at the end of the month.
Perhaps the RBN deal is a special case. I understood it was on the creators to change the prices. RainbowDespair could probably confirm if that's even the case.
Still, I see the logic in the belief that the demo process probably kills more sales than not. It's not a perfect system, since some songs might take a while to 'get going'. RockGamerStudios tends to put up the more 'interesting' bits when they post their preview videos on YouTube. I would be curious to see what their conversion rate looks like.
Even then, I don't think dropping the price is going to help all that much. After nearly four months on the service, they haven't really sold. And it just rather confirms my theory that RBN isn't a particularly effective outlet for bands and songs that people don't know. Especially given that people really attach arbitrary value to RBN songs. (i.e. Nothing is worth $3. Known entities are worth $2. All unknown stuff should be $1 or free if it was allowed.)
Either way, people should buy that song. So buy it already!
As far as the Forum's Nickelback hatefest? Well, I've only gone through the Official Announcement thread and like I said, it's rather boring. But here are some decent enough highlights.
You see why I don't provide any kind of daily 'report'? It's better when they go insane over barely revealed details on a game they otherwise want so bad they can taste it.
Here's a general Forums observation:
I'm seeing a theme here... "OMG I HATE NICKELBACK SOO MUCH, How could you do this HMX? I hate them! And like... you didn't even put that one good song they have on here.. I mean I totally would have gotten that one song... but now I'm really only gonna be able to buy 2 or 3 of these. I HATE THEM!"
Mixed signals
Well, they have over 300 posts, so they're not exactly 'new'. But otherwise, I don't know where they've been posting if it just now occurred to them.
There is another thread about what people are buying next week. I'll skim that one to see if it's any better, but I'd rather spend my time waiting for 'good' example videos for the three (count 'em!) songs released into the in-game RBN store since Monday. I'll hold off and see if anything else shows up today. But probably not.
So far, the only thing notable about the new RBN tracks is one has an album cover of a half-naked woman. And so far, this hasn't resulted in the best responses that the male gender is capable of...

The problem with Nickelback is not so much that they suck (which they do) but that their stuff is *so* overplayed. Their songs would be tolerable if you could go 5 minutes without hearing one on the radio or TV or something.

I just can't
EDIT: Also, huff some paint.
Well, you rarely use punctuation, so that's a start.
Edit: So. Many. Nickelback. Puns.
Only around here, where I've gotten comfortable enough.
But see, a lot of times I post like this
With something on the next line, like this
And I think periods just look weird on those. But if I'm typing up full paragraphs or something, of course I'll use punctuation.

Bonus points for "Hamronix"

while m$ just looks like a statement culled from a really obscure programming language
edit: creed has already been destroyed, kinda, so nickelback still tops the list!

This is no metaphysical dichotomy!
It took seven pages (10 posts per page) before somebody eventually made the 'obvious' joke.
Not a theme that has proven too popular. Less than a handful have made a similar reference since.
This exchange was worth about a chuckle and a half.
