Ripping TV DVDs for iPod

I have most of the DC Animated Universe DVDs (all but Batman Beyond Vol. 2), but I can't seem to find the time to watch every episode. But then I remembered, "Hey, you waste 2 hours on the bus almost every day, that's a perfect time to watch them." So I want to rip the DVDs for my iPod
I know how to do it for feature films (I think), but I don't know how to rip the DVDs so that the episodes are individual files instead of everything in one big file.
I tried the Videora iPod converter, but it kept crapping out on me. It wouldn't have solved my problem anyway, but it would've allowed me to at least watch the stuff on my iPod.

Also, around the same time, Windows Media Player started freezing up if I try to play .avi files on it. Classic and whatever's latest. I have the K-Lite codec pack and the files work fine in VLC
Maybe it's some codec problem? With video files, explorer will try to check the length and other meta data of the file, if you have the columns for that, and I think it has to use codecs to do that.
btw. you might be able to launch explorer from task manager through file-> new task / run... - this should keep all your programs running instead of restarting them with the log off
edit: the CCCP is good - it uses ffdshow instead of separate codecs so shouldn't cause problems and is easy to remove in case it does; they also have a program for uninstalling any codecs that might be left after uninstalling other codec packs

That CCCP codec pack fixed it right up. Strange that the codecs I had "died" for some apparent reason.
I edited the OP to reflect another thread I wanted to make
You'll need DVD Decrypter to rip the files from the DVD onto your computer. Follow the guide here to adjust the settings on DVD Decrypter so you can rip individual episodes (Instead of no File Splitting, choose by chapter, and just choose one chapter at a time). It'll spit out a single .vob file that you can then convert to .mp4 format. I find a 384 bitrate on animated shows still looks great on the iPod, and takes up relatively little room.
It's still not perfect, since WB used some screwy file structures on their DCAU DVDs, but the vast majority of your files will turn out fine. And for those that don't, give me a hollar, and I'll walk you through a few more steps to get even them. I've managed to successfully rip the entirety of Batman: TAS and two seasons of Batman Beyond.
