I'm flying home tomorrow for a relatively long stay, and I'd like to bring my guitar with me. Now, I've seen people carry on instruments before, ranging from violins to full size acoustics, so I know it can be done, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to run into any trouble. I'll be flying AirTran, on a Boeing 717. From a quick Google search, it seems I shouldn't have too much trouble, but does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Perhaps calling your airline would be the easiest way to sort this out?

In my own experience, I used to have no trouble carrying on a guitar, but the last few years it has always had to be checked.
Keep in mind that now that airlines are charging people to check bags, overhead space is at even more of a premium.
