So I mentioned this in IRC but I figured I'd post it here: I am idly considering hosting a small themed tourney sort of like the WWB we just did. Right now I'm thinking a "low tier" tourney, where you can only use characters like hakan, dan, makoto, sakura, etc. That or a new character only tourney. Would there be interest in this kind of thing?
Edit: another option is a no projectile character tourney.

Watching the matches now, Sessler isn't as bad as everyone was making him out to be. Maybe it was during the downtime between matches I guess.
100% agreed. He made some dumb comments, but I thought Seth and he did a good job.
I said in IRC earlier that day that if Sessler was commentating on the SSFIV finals it would be terrible unless they had someone like Seth to make up for him. That's exactly what they did and it wasn't bad. All Sessler's comments were basically stating the obvious off of how much life bar each opponent had, but Seth did a good job going into more detail.
Edit:
They should have just had Sessler commentate on MvC2 and spout off random nonsense. Like 90% of the people watching wouldn't know the difference.

What tier list would you use?
I was actually looking at the character list earlier and I could only come up with a bare handful
of "confirmed" low tier characters - makoto, dan, hakan, gen, sakura, maybe guy.
I think the game might be too balanced for that theme.
Sessler's actual game commentary was worthless but inoffensive. He more or less just played off of Seth like he was supposed to, but I don't really think having somebody there who can't provide any insight into the action adds anything at all.
Not understanding the difference between rounds and matches was painful. Dude seriously did not even do the most basic homework for this.
I'd still be up for another random tourney. That was really fun.
Actually what I'd really love to do is find a random number generator with a selectable number range. Then set each number to a character from MvC2 and do a random tourney for it.

I'd totally be up for doing or organizing that if there were enough people interested.
A random tourney in a random game (unless you REALLY know it) like MvC2 could be fun but I probably wouldn't get too into it.
Something like a Dan-bowl I think would be fun. May the best Dan win! There are some really silly things you can do with him and we could add "taunt-points" and hand out silly awards for it.
If you want to do a series of tourneys, you could always do a mini-character bracket.
Like 1 week, only 3s characters
another week, only boss characters
one week, only new characters
one week, super turbo only characters
one week, original cast

Some of those would end up having many mirror matches. There don't seem to be many that like playing mirrors at all.

Canceling into super taunt equals automatic victory.

Some of them would be smaller selection-wise (I think 3s is the smallest with only 3 choices) but meh... it's not like it's a serious tourney or anything.
Also, mirror matches only tourney would be bonkers.
No, Sim doesn't have the universal hatred the ones above do. People hate Ken and Ryu for the shear number of them online. People hate fighting against Blanka, Rog, Honda, and Gief for sure. The only ones I'm iffy on are Sagat and Guile. Sagat doesn't seem as hated as he was before, and Guile gets massive hatred but I only see it sporadically.

Well, I'm glad Daigo beat Ricky, but I wanted Gamerbee to win.
Zone.
Rushdown.
Whatever the fuck you want.
Except for jumping recklessly I guess.
Take her out to a nice dinner and maybe a walk in the park.
It's not too hard once you recognise the patterns.
Sorry for not re-inviting, Chad, I sit far from the computer so once I'm ingame I don't see IRC really.
I won't host next time to account for that lol
PSN: Bizazedo
CFN: Bizazedo (I don't think I suck, add me).
More people should come though, definitely fun to watch in person.
i have no pattern
i am like an amorphous blob
in a school girl uniform
(sorry for falling off of the face of the earth earlier Folken)
Someone, somewhere, has a fetish like that.
I need to practice punishing LP Shoryukens. LP DP , HP DP gets me far too many times. =(
So that thing Ono was supposed to announce at Evo?
Basically is an announcement for an announcement.
Also, no darkstalkers. Booooooooooooo.
But he didn't rule out a new rival schools I guess.

Where did you find it? The levelup youtube channel does not seem to have them.

Thanks.
I am going to watch Gamerbee beat Wong over and over and over.

Some new videos from Maj that he was showing at Evo.
Edit: another option is a no projectile character tourney.

In that case we should have a Rose ball invitational.

I am accepting proposals for tournament themes.
Roseball is always hilarious.

You could split it up into a shorter series.
Say 2, Alpha, 3 and New.

Blanka, Rog, Sagat, Ken, Guile, Honda, Gief. Maybe Ryu too.
We could just call it the masochism tourney.
Needs more Sim.
