I also imagine playing Portable Ops and Peacewalker will help flesh some things out.
The game was impossibly epic. I still feel the game was best when you were doing what the game is known for, that is, being a sneaky git. The sections that you weren't sneaking were fun but over all I would have preferred more sneaking. Especially sneaking in the jungle, made me so nostalgic for MGS3.
And obviously other parts made me nostalgic for MGS1.

I really do enjoy it as a change of pace. Nice to get everyone working together especially after some really competitive stuff like chaos in the old world. Not a good game to play with meek players who let themselves get bossed around though.
I'm really excited for the new roles and event cards in the expansions, and look forward to finally beating some variants and then later combining them or upping the difficulty.
The idea of legendary (7 epidemics) still terrifies me.

YES. I'm not sure if MGS3 is my favorite MGS in terms of everything put together but it was definitely my favorite MGS in terms of gameplay.
