RE Guild II, its a sim. Basically. Family, Political, and Business. You go through the game managing your business, your place in 1400era society, your relationship with the other Dynasties in town, while making plays at the various political positions that are available.
Wow, this sounds way more interesting than steam makes it look. But... I'm trying not to add to my backlog.... ugh. Is the expansion worthwhile? (Not that I'm planning to buy it or anything...)
I didn't even know there was an expansion! I've really only sunk time into the first one. Just finished the tutorial of the 2nd. Hell, didn't know there was a sequel until I was browsing the sale items.
I can't believe I am about to buy Bioshock 2 when I haven't finished the first one. Someone post a link so I can download a save for 1 that takes me past the tutorial and right to where I get the pistol.

I'd wait till the inevitable Christmas sale. It's highly likely it will go down to $10 or even lower. Finish the first one and see if you like it. Personally I loved the atmosphere and characters from the first, but the combat was not the games strong point for me. Seems like with the second one, combat was more the central focus, so you're probably going to have to really enjoy that aspect of the game to make it worth it.
Fucking hell? And I just bought left 4 dead for 360, when I could have bought ALL THE GAMES IN THE UNIVERSE for approximately the same price?
Well I still feel OK with my purchase because my brother never upgraded his PC from like 2002 and the only time we game together anymore is splitscreen on consoles but still WHAT THE FUCK?
This sounds awesome! Keep us posted as to whether it turns out well.
Its working out well so far! Though I've just started. In this there are actual resource nodes in the playfield, where-as in the first one there were preset areas you'd go to for resources. In a potion shop you'd just tell a guy to go out into the wild and gather, for crafting you'd go to the market or mine/logging camp/quarry.
But, since they are in the world in this one, you can actually build the resource buildings. In this game I started as a craftsman, with a mind towards blacksmithing. Using my starting funds I built a mine in the hills, and have cornered the market on gems. Netting me tons of cash. Once I work up a good nest egg and apply for the next title (citizen, up from serf I believe) I'll hand operation of the mine over to an AI controlled (and the control panel for it looks a lot more robust) master, and I'll operate the smithy.

How does Overlord 2 compare to the original? Like what did it change around?
The mechanics of the game have been improved. Controlling minions is easier and swinging your axe is more fluent. Also instead of choosing good or evil you can choose which kind of evil you want to be (domination or destruction). You can obtain more than one mistress, magic and forging have been simplified, and minions can get mounts.
Unfortunately the story isn't as good as the first one. You have to face off against a Roman empire knock off but the humor is still there. If you liked the first one, the second one is a steal at that price.

Ok so I just tried out a bit of the King's Bounty demo. Anyone wanna give me some general info on what the fuck this game is about? I mean I understand that its kinda sorta like HoMM but what's the point? Like am I trying to take over the world, or kill some big giant monster? I flew around a bit, found a roaming monster, got into a fight and won and didn't really know beyond that what I was supposed to be doing.
Is the overworld map stuff not turn-based? I didn't ever get a sense of any sort of turns passing. I was just flying around exploring on my horse. Which I mean, that's pretty cool but I'm a bit confused as to why they would give me so much freedom that early in the game. Being able to fly anywhere seems like it would take some of the challenge of exploration out of the game.
Hmmm, this could be a good opportunity to finally try out an RTS. Leaning towards Company of Heroes and/or World in Conflict. Definitely going to wait till July 4, though, lest they show up in a daylong sale.
Baby's first RTS.

If it's your first one, go with World in Conflict. It's almost half action game, it's a great way to ease into the genre
I'd really suggest just buying the THQ pack and getting all of relic's RTSes. DOW2 is a good micro level intro to get used to controlling an RTS, then you have CoH as one of the better RTSes out there once you're used to them.

In summary: I don't get it.
The overworld is in real time. You talk to people with arrows over their heads (or castles) to get quests, you do the quests to get money, and sometimes inventory items or more people for your armies

It's an RPG. Do some quests, fuck up some monsters, get loots
In addition to what Spoit said, in the real game you don't get access to everywhere in the game right off the bat. More places are unlocked as you do the main quest (and there are several sidequests around) and a few are blocked by fairly strong monsters. Beyond that, follow pyromaniac's example!

Tanks have no hit points, shots or explosives penetrate and do damage to different parts of the tank based on armor thickness and slope on hit location. (set an engine on fire and don't feel the swell of giddy glee. I dare you)
Terrain features are destructible in their entirety I believe. Want to assault a squad in a house? Make a new door with explosives or set it on fire. Or drive a tank though it.
Fire. It spreads. It burns. It kills. It is a heart warming sight to behold.
So, basically, why I love this game. It is like combat mission streamlined and made realtime. When things explode or die or you execute a beautiful plan or maneuver it feels fantastic and the game rewards you for it. There is a demo of the single player bits available.

Oh, snap!
Steam is up but refusing to download the last tiny sliver of Overlord II.
In other news, why the fuck am I pondering buying Clive Barker's Jericho By Clive Barker?
I think I'm just on the prowl for anything under $2 that might amuse me.

In the last week I've bought Plants vs. Zombies, Deus Ex 1&2, and now the Overlord complete pack and The Witcher.
I don't have time for all these fucking games.
And I have a suspicion that before the sale is over I'll have bought even more.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
When your games are on Steam, doesn't Valve give out developer accounts that have every Steam game on them?
It's like how I never buy games on Steam until their inevitable sale, but 1000 times more.

And I have spare time.

The tubes.
They are all clogged.

But I always had the most fun in multiplayer.
And if that doesn't work, I'll control the tank!
