So there was a friggin 5.0 scale earthquake in Ottawa this afternoon. I was in an underground loading dock at the time and thought a huge truck had crashed into a wall or something. Scary stuff!

Then I got to take the rest of the day off!

Man that would be strange to experience. It's odd enough when large trucks drive by on the street and make whatever I'm standing on tremble, can't imagine what it would be like to having a 5.0 or more quake happen for a while and feel it.

Apparently it went all the way through Eastern Ontario and some of Quebec too! My sister and I thought it was a construction truck making the house shake until we went outside and saw a bunch of the neighbours looking really confused.

CFRA was reporting some cracked roads downtown and a lot of shattered windows in Hull earlier, we got lucky and just had a few pictures fall down.

The epicenter was in Vale du Bois, Quebec

I work in Hull and I didn't see no broken windows.

Saw an old wooden telephone wire post that looked a little slanty, that was all.

Oh and ten thousand government workers that were all talking loudly

sit in a normal spinny sort of computer chair and rock your body hard side-to-side, that's a good simulation of how an earthquake feels.

    Ahaha, 5.0

Earthquakes are fairly commonplace in my neck of the woods. There were a few huge ones in the last few months, including a 7.2 in April. Once you get over the initial shock that the ground is moving they can be pretty fun.

Yeah, I'm over on King Edward. We went out, stood around for a few then went back in. People were like: Why is my cell phone not working?

These videos are hilarious. I love how the guy in the second video mentioned how he was afraid the place was going to come down, when it wasn't even shaking hard enough for the water to spill out of the tank or knock any of his stolen library books off the shelf.

Yeah, we barely ever get any noticeable earthquakes here. The worst disasters we ever get are ice storms or some small microbursts, so people are pretty shocked.

I used to love it when people would visit during tornado season and completely lose their shit

"Shouldn't we be.... like.... in a basement or something?!?!"

Well, Tornados are just Nature turing into a sentient being of wrath and carnage... not real sure what good it's gonna do. At least enjoy watching shit fly around before the giant intelligent wind-God destroys you!
