So there was a friggin 5.0 scale earthquake in Ottawa this afternoon. I was in an underground loading dock at the time and thought a huge truck had crashed into a wall or something. Scary stuff!
Man that would be strange to experience. It's odd enough when large trucks drive by on the street and make whatever I'm standing on tremble, can't imagine what it would be like to having a 5.0 or more quake happen for a while and feel it.
Apparently it went all the way through Eastern Ontario and some of Quebec too! My sister and I thought it was a construction truck making the house shake until we went outside and saw a bunch of the neighbours looking really confused.
CFRA was reporting some cracked roads downtown and a lot of shattered windows in Hull earlier, we got lucky and just had a few pictures fall down.
Earthquakes are fairly commonplace in my neck of the woods. There were a few huge ones in the last few months, including a 7.2 in April. Once you get over the initial shock that the ground is moving they can be pretty fun.
These videos are hilarious. I love how the guy in the second video mentioned how he was afraid the place was going to come down, when it wasn't even shaking hard enough for the water to spill out of the tank or knock any of his stolen library books off the shelf.

Yeah, we barely ever get any noticeable earthquakes here. The worst disasters we ever get are ice storms or some small microbursts, so people are pretty shocked.
I used to love it when people would visit during tornado season and completely lose their shit
"Shouldn't we be.... like.... in a basement or something?!?!"
Well, Tornados are just Nature turing into a sentient being of wrath and carnage... not real sure what good it's gonna do. At least enjoy watching shit fly around before the giant intelligent wind-God destroys you!

I'm still at work because I am not a pussy.

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
You work in a gov't building, right?
Did they make you evacuate too?
They kicked us all out and I had an hour left in my day. I said fuck it, I'll walk home in my workboots.

I work in Hull and I didn't see no broken windows.
Saw an old wooden telephone wire post that looked a little slanty, that was all.
Oh and ten thousand government workers that were all talking loudly

sit in a normal spinny sort of computer chair and rock your body hard side-to-side, that's a good simulation of how an earthquake feels.

well,
it's almost 90* right now
Yeah, I'm over on King Edward. We went out, stood around for a few then went back in. People were like: Why is my cell phone not working?
I was like: Ok, well, what do you think other people are trying to do right now?

I'm the groundskeeper at LTDLC, if you're ever going there we should meet up and buy beer from the store in the building.

All my friends started spazzing on facebook and my family called me and it's just like holy fuck relax
It reminds me of when places in Texas get like 1 cm of snow and everyone panics
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
But it is something to talk about, there hasn't been one like this in like 20+ years.

After the 20th text from my friends along the lines of "HOLY SHIT"
And the fifth call from my family asking "Are you ok?"
And reading about various places that just got the day off
It has made me a bitter, bitter man

Oh, sorry
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poltergeist
If I lived in California I'd probably have an anxiety attack thinking about it
No Redeemer, I'm more asking why would you immediately go to a poltergeist as an explaination
Is there a poltergeist epidemic in Canada that they're not telling us about?
then redeemer was the poltergeists
