I only just got The Passing this weekend, so if I have to put up with somewhat broken mutations for another 5 weeks to get a damn Gnome avatar item...
It was a lot of fun to play. I just didn't like the pub-game bitching that happened when people were chewing my wife and I out for fucking up, or going a wrong way, or not being right there with them, or... or anything.
One last annoyance was realizing that as the Tank, you need to hit the enemy with 100% accuracy from a distance of .0000001 inches. Meanwhile, Tanks in campaign mode can hit you from a few feet away. :P

That tank thing isn't really true. Its very ping dependent. Typically, if you're too close to the survivor you won't actually hit them but kind of swing past them. Campaign tanks might have a slightly longer reach (i'm not really sure) but vs tank is no slouch either
Welcome all you wonderful new people to Armadeaddon!
We kinda like new people most of the time but if you ARE new, please please please tell us. We'll do a regular VS game to help you get acclimated to the game. Jumping right into Realism VS hurts everyone if you don't know how everything works yet.
Scavenge might actually be a good idea, playing as infected. It's tougher than versus as survivor but you can get some infected practice in.
As survivor in scavenge stick to 'the leader' like glue. Scav is all about making fast instant decisions so you make a lot of erratic movement (switching which fuel can to run off to)

Ignore them. You should play campaign until you're comfortable with the survivor side game play- the snap decisions you have to make etc.
Just jumping into vs requires you to learn 2 completely different games about about 8 different classes. Campaign lets you get used to the ebb and flow of the game, the weapons, and communicating. Get used to all of those and then apply it to the infected side latter with some guidance from experienced players and the learning curve will be much easier.
Trying to play the sacrifice, and/or No Mercy on 360..... so I spent $10 to get it all on steam. Not sure if my PC can run it, drop into armegeddon (how do I do that?) and ask for an invite right? (In the past 6 years I've played Starcraft II on my PC.....)
I already ended up buying the Snow Leopard update just for this game... And now I have to buy a separate USB mic just because Valve somehow broke their internal mac mic support on their second multiplayer source engine port?
If I wanted to upgrade my computer all the time to play games, I would have bought a PC. :x
Bought a USB headset to see if that would stop the mac mic dying problem.
The result?
Mic still dies, and I'm returning it tomorrow. Heck, even adjusting the mic volume in Audio and Midi setup on OSX doesn't help. Valve needs to select & copy all the chat code from TF2:Mac, then paste it over the L4D2:Mac chat code.
GSM on
We'll get back there someday.

That sucks... I wonder why/how there are mic problems with l4d2.
So The Sacrifice is a pretty well-made campaign in terms of gameplay, but I was expecting more of a cutscene or something for the ending, with how much they built it up

You and everyone else. Press a button
and boom, you die?
I reckon it should be press button, they're raised to safety and you have to fend off the horde until you die. Given the bridge raises in the background anyway, it's not even much of a change.

Yeah this, exactly.
It would have been the perfect way to incorporate Survival mode into the actual game. The second you choose to sacrifice yourself, it should trigger the timer up top (just for fun) and it's a fight to the unavoidable death.
It was such bullshit when I played it. We played on normal and literally my buddy playing as Bill hopped down, walked over to the generator - totally unopposed - and switched it, and then we saw run of the mill regular common zombies take him down for no reason.
I literally had JUST walked to the bad ass gattling gun and he was dead. Never got to even use it.

Noticed steam updating earlier and it seems both games got an update, most notably being added support for Russian audio.

(Really, again? You couldn't just set the door to NON/Breakable? The tank doesn't need to punch through it, there's a window he can drop out of. Just throwing that out there. Might help your designers a bit in the future...)
Nothing but Hunters on the prowl.
In this Coop Mutation we pit you against non-stop hunters. No booms, no spit, no tongues, no charges, no being ridden… Great practice on dead stopping a hunter pounce.

Not that I am complaining one bit.

no workaround for the mac mini mic thing? they might fix it ... eventually. But then again headsets are cheap and convenient/better qual.
I'm new as hell! Prepare for me to let you down repeatedly as I try to grasp playing my first FPS on a computer since 2002.

You should join the Armadeaddon steamgroup chat- its where we hang out and set games up.
Mostly hang out, but there's usually 3 or so big vs games a day

which begs the question, Who would win in a fight.
