Why? It's a fun game... though I've only played it once at a friends house and I was hammered at the time...
You are doing it right. This is exactly how Zombies!!! is meant to be played. It gets a lot of grief online, but it's been a staple of my gaming group for years.
While zombies have been done ad nauseam in other media (Marvel comics, I'm looking at you!), I don't think they've worn out their welcome in games yet. They're like Nazis in that they're an acceptable target where you don't have to worry about a bunch of pesky morality.
Also, zombie horsie!? Squeeee! I wonder if an apple will still make it go faster? Or will John have to start carrying brains around in his bag?

again? I will buy the hell out of it if I can play as
John
in SP again.
Seriously, I haven't palyed in so long just because I'm tired of playing as
Jack.
I fucking hate
being forced to play as that little shit.
I kept a save right before the last mission for this very reason, except it turns out that
John is stuck in Rancher clothes, which is fucking bullshit. I was thinking of going around and unlocking the other outfits, but there's no point if I can't even wear them as John.

The game serisously pissed me off with that crap. I can't stand listening to
I agree that zombies have worn out their welcome, but I don't have the energy to get angry about it. I do wonder how this is going to fit in with the rest of the setting, which is (with a few notable exceptions) pretty well grounded.
Changing the subject back to Liars and Cheats, is anyone still playing online on the Xbox? I finally got around to trying some gambling, and it was quite disappointing. The pubbies I played with managed to have less personality than the NPCs in the game. Actually, that's an understatement... The NPCs have quite a bit of personality (like Howard Moooooon). The pubbies have no personality whatsoever. If there are still a few of us, we should arrange a "poker night" or something.
How are people getting tired of zombies? How many good zombie games are there? Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, and there was that zombie dlc for Borderlands.
I'm busy playing Halo Reach, but I am more than willing to get the Liars and Cheats DLC if it means being able to shoot the shit with PA folk and play poker and liar's dice.

They're mainstream now and it's cool to hate on the mainstream.
"In addition to this epic new single-player adventure, The Undead Nightmare Pack also features brand new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location. All this, plus some exciting new multiplayer modes and much more to be revealed very soon."

I wouldn't say tired, I've just always found them a little dull. We've got this neat western setting, I was hoping they could think of some neat story elements to go with it.
Haha, that would be awesome if they had unicorns you could hunt to extinction just like the buffalo.
As far as my "zombie fatigue" goes, there's also quite a bit of zombie exposure in other media (movies, comics, etc). Like I said though I'm not hating on it, I'm just a bit zombie'd out at the moment. It would be nice if something else could get some exposure for a while, like werewolves or something.
That said, I'll probably still end up buying this.
I really hope that there's singleplayer DLC coming that follows John when he was a crook. There's a lot of backstory already in place, they just need to expand upon it!

Well it'd be a prequel in a sense... so it really wouldn't matter since you'd be going into the past. :?

Also it wouldn't be a thing. Just put a diary on a dresser that you can interact with that starts the mission(s).
I was really hoping they would find a way to make it permanent.
Don't get me wrong; if they added into a DLC to let you choose, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
But I doubt it'll ever happen.
This is all toeing the spoiler line though, so yeah.
EDIT: But you know that's the only way its going to work with the Zombie DLC. It's not like it'll take over the whole world in single-player. It's going to be some item you'll have to interact with to trigger the missions.
Concerning where the zombie DLC will fall into the game's setting:
I don't know how it will be accessed, but it would have to be with John. The trailer features Bonnie and the Marshall, and Jack has no history with them. That's my logic, at least.

Jack does have a bit of history with Bonnie, at least they met eachother when Marston went to get the cattle. Or am I misremembering?
After seeing the trailer I am kind of excited for this DLC. I don't really have the "zombie fatigue" like other people seem to.
Do we know if its just some sort of multi-player thing (aka CoD5 zombie mode), or is it going to be a series of missions? Crossing my fingers for missions, as I never got into the multi.

Yes, please! It would be cool to rob banks, etc. with Dutch and the rest of the gang.
I doubt its happening, but since its a zombie dlc pack, i'm really hoping John is a zombie. I think that would be spectacular.
I think this would cheapen the ending to vanilla RDR somewhat.
I'm pretty sure this whole thing is one big "What if?" storyline. I doubt the zombies are canon. No cheapening of the main plot should occur (hopefully).

It could be framed as John telling Jack a ghost story;
"Well, son, this one time I was ridin' through Tumbleweed..."
Hopefully the XP yields in those missions will be better than in the free batch of Co-Op that was released in June. I'm only missing 1 trophy to get my platinum, and that's to reach level 50. I cannot stand bandit grinding, so I'm hoping a feasible alternate path to 50 is introduced so I can finish this game out. I don't like my game file sitting there at 93%.

I'm sorry.

Have you played Wet? That whole soundtrack rocks! I keep the demo on my PS3 just to give it a quick play-through now and then.

More Marshal, more Bonnie and more John Marston?
I think I'm sold on this.
Spoiler for cool little tidbit at the end of the trailer that I think works better if you aren't expecting it:

Haha, that was totally my first thought.
My other one was that the secret location would be A MINOTAUR'S MAZE!!!

That'd be pretty awesome if it was presented that way actually.
Either that or...

They've said over and over that most of the focus on it is a single player story.
