Mordekaiser just confuses the hell out of me. He's great in the early laning phase and can harass the enemy quite efficiently, but the longer the game goes on the shittier he seems to become. His damage just isn't impressive at all.
the thing about him is just outlasting people. later in the game mordekaiser goes into godmode and becomes essentially indestructible, and if you are standing in the middle of 3 people attempting to kill you with Creeping Death up and siphoning every chance you should never lose your shields while having large amounts of armor and magic resistance and health and regeneration and then you ult + ignite someone and they become your ghost and now you can start doing ACTUAL damage.
neal brah, we need you in vent playing wif us more!
totes
imma probably be on vent in a bit, imma eat lunch first
well I meant with the noob/not super cereal crew that chills a channel or two below yours (Moo, butterfly).
Oh, quick note with Kog'maw - use your ult like a ghetto ward. If you're running through the forest, or your team is moving as a group, use it on bushes to scout for the enemy team. Your ult gives you 2-3 seconds of sight on whoever it hits, which is a lifetime if your team is chasing/hunting the other team.
Got me a mic, and just got enough yordlebux to buy the first tiery thing of champions.
Any suggestions on which I should spring for?
TBH first and foremost - get someone you like.
You'll stay much more interested in the character if you like their design/type of class it is. Plus you won't feel like a huge dink for spending the yordles.
After that, discussing the character's usefulness and effectiveness comes after.
heimerdinger definitely needs some changes. you just can't lose with him on your team. you can't. i've been playing with some friends and one is on a heimerdinger streak and he just keeps playing him. in the games where it looks absolutely terrible, like, we are going to lose this very quickly type deal, we end up pushing every single lane to their inhibitor towers and the team who is dominating us kills wise has to go on the defensive. its ridiculous how hard he can push, and we simply sit behind his 3 turrets while they sit behind their tower and he pecks at their tower indefinitely.
Heimer is great at the start, but like most champs falls very short later on, just wait till you start fighting people who realize how super fragile those turrets really are. Or they realize they can just rush heimer, who has no escapes, and all his turrets crumble to dust! If anything they need to buff heimer, with smarter turret AI and give him a real ult.

his turrets do a fuck ton of damage though and it's nearly impossible to push a sentry if he has 3 guns in front of it.

Heimer isn't meant to be on his own, when he's supporting a push surrounded by his team it's not so easy to just dive in and kill him and his insane damage and tower bombing is super fucking annoying.

Get a decent ranged auto-attack carry like Tristana, Teemo or Kog and this should stop happening.
Played a game last night where three of our team fed Morde hard and our Kog was awesome. Teamfights were basically "who goes down first? Kog or Morde?"

TBH Master Yi was my first champion I purchased and the first guy I learned.
Few quick pointers: -Be very passive for the first 6-7 levels, just worry about being behind your minions and leveling up. He gets very very powerful around lvl 10 if he hasn't died a bunch.
- Only use his Q ability (forget the name) to click on the closest minion to you and they should die within this ability. The trick is to attack when you know you'll get the gold *KACHING* kill count from finishing off a minion or two. His Q ability also finishes with the target you clicked on.
-Focus on getting items that help with Attack speed then Critical Strike, but the first item I usually get is a Regrowth Pendant (Health Regen). This keeps Yi in the fray longer as a single digit hero and can keep him leveling up/defending tours longer.
- Level his W meditation ability first, this helps tremendously with early leveling and staying in the fight.
-His E ability is god, max that up first AFTER you get one point in meditation, then max out the Q.
- Yi uses LOTS of mana in the beginning levels, so focus on his abilities for KILLING BLOWS to minions, especially his Q ability. Use it sparingly to end minions and chase down fleeing champions who are hurt.
-W, Q, E, E, Q, R should be how you lvl the first 6 levels. Level according to how the game goes afterwards.

"just take out his turrets"
yeah and just walk around his team right? cause they won't be all on top of his turrets? the major power of heimer is that during the laning phase he'll get a few good pushes, yeah
but when it comes to the teamfight phase, his team can all just stack on one lane and protect him while he pushes with turrets, nades, and rockets (easily spammable with blue buff) -- if the other team initiates, he can ult, meaning multiple members of your team are slowed, throw out a nade to blind and potentially stun, rockets for damage, and zhonya's to protect himself if he's being focused

This is exactly what happened last night undein.
Heimer held middle with 3 guns and had 2 guys with him at middle, just holding the gun until we came close, ganked us and pushed up to bottom of middle.
They did this in succession to each sentry, over and over.

None of his attacks are spammable, even with maxed out cooldowns he still has a long recharge on all his abilities making it impossible to spam. I'm not saying hes horrible but hes far from powerful, his turret AI makes it so his ult is wasted half the time because they'll be shooting random minions, same with his missles they just love to target random minions rather than champs standing on you.
What he really needs is HP scaling turrets so they arnt so easily walked over, and a better ult since it requires alot of prep just to utilize it, its pretty much wasted without all 3 turrets up.

I like heimer, or else I wouldnt have mained him for so long and I do believe he was better prior to his missile nerf, but there is a reason you dont see him as often and hes down there with eve, nunu and the never played bunch. Hes just easily countered once you realize how very little control heimer really has over his abilities, his grenade being the one and only nuke he has that he can target. You guys say under ideal conditions hes this unstoppable force, but so is any other champ with the right buffs/support, like rammus and shacko these guys eat up turrets super fast.

Sorry. There's no stronger pusher in the game than Heimer, and towers are what win games. Not kills.
Heimer's not even bad at killing, either. He's very, very dangerous at close range once he's mid to high level. His turrets are obscenely damaging with some AP.

Not exactly. There are a few champs that benefit significantly moreso than others from blue. Heimer, Karthus, Nidalee, Shaco, Ezrael and Teemo being the ones that spring to mind. Blue Heimer? Missiles and Bombs every few seconds. Blue Karthus? No end to Lay Waste. Blue Nidalee? Traps and skillshots errday. Blue Shaco? Welcome to JitB bush. Blue Ezrael? Pew pew. Blue Teemo? SHROOOOOOOOOoooOOOoOMS.
If you play any of those characters your focus should be on almost perpetually keeping blue on yourself, and if you're playing against them, similarly, shut down blue. With wards.
Is this the SE++ thread or GT? Because I could swear Heimer is redonkeylous. Especially when played by really good players.
I used to premake as Alistar with another dude as Heimer... every game was a victory save for the very few that gave us feeders/bad players and the other team was extremely skilled in backdooring.
ayoooo so I am a little confused on what I should get first for Garen.
Frozen Mallet VS. Force of Nature..
I want to do more damage, so I'm looking at Ghostblade. Ruby Crystal + Long Sword in the beginning looks the best cause it can lead me to Phage, which can then lead into Mallet.
Any input for a great Garen DPS mainly/Tank secondly build?
You spelled him with 2 rrs so I know ur a weinerrrrrrrrr.
He can't be any worse than Tryndamere, plus he looks badass so I'm giving him a shot.

Make sure you have full ArP runes in red.
Start with boots and pots.
Lead with silencing strike ---> judgement
Scoop up some early kills with your lane partner.
If you're going with a tanky item first, get a sword of the occult and if all goes well that'll provide the damage you need. Avoid attack speed, as judgement ticks at a constant speed ignoring it.
failing that, ghostblade is awesome as the movement speed is brilliant with judgement.
EDIT: It's worth noting that judgement doesn't apply on-hit effects.
You spelled him with 2 rrs so I know ur a weinerrrrrrrrr.

That's setting the bar pretty low, however. I find however that build order for big items such as frozen mallet and Force of Nature is pretty futile. You should adjust for how your team is built vs. what the other team is doing. If you're surviving team fights with low health, go FoN first, if you're focused down quickly, go with the +health that comes with building towards the frozen mallet.

Yea I tend to do that with my other characters, but I just didn't know if there was one or two items that are a necessity for Garen - like how when I play singed I NEED Rod of Ages.

Youmuu's ghostblade is this for Garen.
It cannot be overstated how good the movement speed + judgement are, and the crit it adds is rad.

In general, if you're a dps class expecting not to fail you should practically always scoop up a mejai's or a SotO. They're such good value for money once you've got a few kills.
EDIT: Rak, it's also worth mentioning that waiting for judgement when chasing is often better than autoattacking. You have to stop to autoattack, but you can just slide into people with judgement.
Also, the speed from decisive strike should always be considered just before judgement.

heimer is near the top for powerful champs
if you can't see why you aren't playing with good heimers (note: not that hard to be good with heimer considering the champ is really god)
control blue buff once you are about level 5 or so
level turrets and rockets early, pick up a zhonya's after a couple of doran's rings
push lane -> repeat ad naseum
He doesn't need spammable abilities, his turrets do the heavy lifting.
and, if you're ulting/rocketing when you know you have the possibility of unloading on creeps... well, you're doing it wrong.
and, i ult all the time with one turret. team fight starts, put down turret, ult that mother fucker.

Ok thanks a bunch for clearing this up - this'll help a lot.
EDIT: Rak, it's also worth mentioning that waiting for judgement when chasing is often better than autoattacking. You have to stop to autoattack, but you can just slide into people with judgement.
Also, the speed from decisive strike should always be considered just before judgement.
