I just played my first games since april. Items have been added! Is spell vamp still dog shit? Can anyone reccomend a good item build for Ryze? I generally start with the 20 AP spellbook, into either Soulstealer or the tome with CDR AP and something else. Then boots, then the item thats the spell version of the Frozen Mallet.
Ryze is good with mejai's and manamanamanamanamana.
Static Orb is still good but honestly I think Overload gets more kills now. I don't play Ryze enough though... so don't listen to me.
something i've had success with is going by Phreak's guide and grabbing Doran's Blade, talenting for +3 damage in offense, and slotting a damage quintessence so you start the game with her Spell Vamp passive while also having some good starting health.
I've been stacking her AP and rushing Rylai's and that seems to do me okay
Some games I do great (12/2/8) and then some games I just feed the shit out of people
Ideally, you want at minimum one tier 1 damage quintessence and the masteries in the offense tree to increase damage. This will let you get your spell vamp from a doran's blade. After the Rylai's I like to get merc treads, and then the various hybrid items (gunblade, rageblade, etc etc).
Rushing Rylai's is a good choice, the only thing I get before that are the basic boots.
Speaking of which I prefer ignite/cleanse for summoner skills, ignite for more damage and cleanse because it's pretty damn useful.
During the laning phase just play it safe, use your Q to last hit minions and harass, and laying down her smoke to stealth is a good idea to either get in some easy last hits or harassment. It's when you're level 6 that you can be more aggressive. To be honest I find it pretty hard to give advice past this point since knowing when to engage someone with your ult and bursting them down with everything you have is something that's acquired through experience.

Sounds like it's not a matter of build it's just a matter of me needing to l2p.
he casts his Q on people but doesn't attack them yet: he waits until his cooldown is back up (or almost back up) and THEN shadow dances to them, hits them to activate the Q, then Q's them a second time and hits them a second time
it is essentially more burst in a shorter time because they haven't taken the damage from the previous Q yet which makes them think they are safe
I lost six games in a row, none of them were even close to being close. I am done for the night, so much of this game depends on teamwork and I don't think most people understand that. No offense to anyone I play with from here, they are mostly alright, but the randoms we get are almost always terrible.

it was that, plus a combination of getting arranged teams that were much better than we were. I mean come on, Janna, Amumu, Taric, Pantheon, and Anivia?
Hey people I don't know. I just started playing this as a result of this thread here and have been really enjoying it. I'm excited to see some new champions roll out but purchased Amumu with the IP I earned since I seem to be very good at getting good teammates with him. Feel free to add me (Sinful Pianos) if you're in need of someone else to play. I'm pretty good at assists and not dying too much.
I've been playing this game for a while, I think I'm level 24 now. Please add me if you are remotely good, I hate losing because of noob teams. SN is "batmantis".

Been playing some Tankplank. That build is probably the greatest thing I've had the pleasure of using. Credit to whoever made that sicknasty build up.
Just feels a bit light on damage and leviathan is hit or miss. Kinda tough for me to pull off a high kill score. I almost never die though, which is awesome as Gangplank is usually so squish
go there and build me the sickest, most dopest dope Garen or Twisted Fate item build you can think of.
I need me some opinions and different ideas.
Your style of play is the problem not your builds. You just need to work on knowing the best times to attack/retreat. You are far too aggressive during the laning phase and you often get behind in levels/gear as a result. Your best games I have seen you play are when you are smart and patient.

Garen build is easy.
Go 21/9/0. Get Armor Pen marks, Dodge seals, Magic Resist runes, Run Speed quintessences.
Then get the following items:
- Boots of Speed (level 1 boots), 3x health pots
- Upgrade Boots of Speed to Boots of Swiftness (3 movement speed)
- Giant's Belt
- Sunfire Cape
- Continue to build Sunfire Capes, prioritizing Giant's Belt
Only once have I ever had a game go long enough to fill a final item slot, and I got a Randuin's Omen.
So I am upto level 10 from nothing but vs cpu practice games trying out champions now. With the IP I have built up should I start picking up level 1 runes (I have none so far)? Otherwise I may pick up a Champion with the Ip I have built up(a 3150 one).
Need some help with + gold items. I've been getting a Kage's Lucky Pick as first buy with Fiddlesticks. It's never recommended as an optimal choice, but it makes me feel better when I don't get solid last hits, it builds into a fantastic end game item and it still gives me AP, which I am usually stacking alongside magic pen. Am I being retarded? How long is it taking for me to get the cost of the item back just form the +gold?

5 gold every 10 seconds means 30 gold per minute, so 450 gold per 15 minutes. It eventually ends up costing nothing. Not that bad at all. Plus 5 ap!
I got rejected by Melk last night. I'm still fighting back the tears...
Forwent dodging an Eve, and got lucky enough to play against a team that didn't account for her.
Next game played against an Eve. Got an Oracles as Soraka, since she was prioritizing me anyway. Pretty easy to catch her sneaking through my team to get to me.
I love heroes that are countered by a 400g item.
Played a game as Ashe and got devoured by Cho'Gath every time he saw me.

This doesn't apply to these characters though.
I am confident in items for Kassadin, Singed and Yi/Fiddle so when I play them, I am much more competent, but these two characters are up in the air. I'm wasting a couple buys on some stuff i think I need, but I instead should be focusing on definitive items that are mandatory for that character.
Also Veit, shut your butt. "Style of play"?
I've been juggling like 3-4 characters cause they're all super fun to play, yet they're exceptionally different from one another.
After a while of switching back and forth, I tend to try and do Judgement as TF and gold card people as Garen.
Sorry I'm not pro-veit and stick with 1 character.

It's not even about a per-champion playstyle
theres certain nuances that everyone needs to be mindful of despite what champion they grab.
heres a list of stuff off the top of my head:
don't tower dive at low levels dear god (unless you are soal)
related->
you see that guy under the tower at 25% and you are at full? unless you can hit the without taking tower hits don't bother harassing them at all. Too many times I've seen people think they are pro-harassing and keeping them at the tower but in the meantime they take tower hits and go from 100% to 30% over a minute or so and are like "WELP TIME TO GO PORT BACK!"
uh
don't be super aggressive early game at all, minions prioritize nerds that hit allied champions so if you shoot that morgana and she roots you next to all the minions you are taking hella deeps
honestly early game just friggen go hog wild for last hits. Also if you are outranged be mindful. A few games back I was in a premade and me and another dude were up against Zilean and ... i think it was Ashe while we were both mostly melee (i had gangplank so it was .5 ranged mostly!!). Zilean and some other ranged poker with stupid range. Anyways we didn't play like idiots and were careful about getting in their range and by the time level 6 rolled around we were actually able to hold our own because we didn't carelessly feed and/or take excessive (bong)hits that forced us to port back and lose XP
basically play smart, if at any time you are thinking "FUCK YEEAHH YOU DIDNT EXPECT THIS DEFIANCE FROM SOMEONE UNDERLEVELED AND AT HALF YOUR HP" as you flash next to them and burn your cooldowns you are doing something very wrong
(this goes to anybody really, none of this is rak specific)
If you're a tank and you're laning with a carry, LET the carry get MORE killing blows than you. 2 to 1 is good, but more is better if you are willing to let it go like that.
I've been noticing this a lot lately.
Just don't take them all.
Typically its more difficult to get KBs as a tank anyway, so it should naturally even itself out, but some people are pretty pro at KBs regardless of champion and need to remember.
Having a beefy tank is great, but if your carry isn't getting gold in the laning phase, it really dampens the late game impact a lot.

Just know your role: Jump in, kill squishy, get out. Most of the time if you can't kill your target, you will die. So, wait for the right time

Oh I see what you mean, it wasn't that clear from your post.
this is in no way pointed at you rak, just came to mind because of veit's post
oh no I do admit I play rather aggressively, just recently I've toned it down, mostly cause with TF you HAVE to be omega-passive.
If not I just die a bunch and don't kill anything.
Edit: Don't worry though, I'm gonna be playing some Garen today when I get back so I'm down to die a bunch again.
I just end up nomming errybody.
