Hell yeah, Gothic 2 still stands as one of the best RPG's ever made and it's perfectly playable today. I love that game, and still play it from time to time
Hard, though. Be ready to run away very very fast at the beginning.
Yeah, the opening could have been a bit better (basically stick to the road and make sure you get into town, and SAVE) But a great RPG, maybe not a stellar story/dialogue but definitely a cut above.
I still think the first is the best but yeah the graphics are by no means off putting.
Seconding this. The series has been on a slight downhill slope since the first game.
I beat Gothic 2 original, but have yet to beat Gothic 2 Gold, with the Night of the Raven expansion pack, despite owning for for awhile now.
It makes the game even more difficult.

You should definitely try to get Night of the Raven too when you're looking forward to play Gothic 2. I myself enjoyed the excellent addon (althought short) even more so then the core game (probably because it sticks closer to Gothic 1).

I say any 3D game from about 2000 and on won't be annoying to look at compared to a game from 97. Unless you're some punk kid born in 2010.

But to answer your question, yes it is.
