Baby mattress question (SOLVED)

Hey people with babies or former babies: we're trying to pick out a crib mattress and we're adrift in a sea of choices. Basically the options are foam and coil, we know that much. But we don't know which is better, having heard arguments for both, and we're not sure what to do. Any hands on experience or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

    Ultimately, it doesn't really matter.

You don't want one that's too squishy, because you don't want your child to die a horrible death. But... really, as far as I can tell (and I just bought one Friday, so I feel validated in my opinion) there are very few that are squishy enough to actually be a problem. I recommend going to a baby store and squooshing the mattresses they have available. You will find that most will be just fine, and one or two of the "bargain" ones will feel like you're squeezing a pillow. Avoid those, the rest will be okay. Just pick one that fits your crib and your price range.
