Still more effort than signing up for a lycos.co.uk account

My guess would be he's blocked from using FTP at work so he needs something with a "web uploader"
www.lycos.co.uk allows remote linking and uploading from the web.
He could always create one for his domain.

Cheaper as well, but it has more restrictive limitations.
Indeed, but if you only want it to link images, thats hardly a problem. Especially since he's currently using geocities which is more restrictive
We did a phpbb upgrade and it disabled all but appropriate image extensions for security reasons.
The good news is that my txt avatar still works.
Someone sounds jealous.
It was only for the body of posts.

I've been trying to reach you, but your extension cord doesn't reach that far.
Says you. Get a better host than geocities. There is a thread in AFK and I have told A duck! of two more that are pretty reliant.
Not necessarily directed at you, but why is it a security risk to allow those extensions in the post, but not a risk in the avatar?
The avatar also presents a security risk, I suspect they just overlooked it when they mad the patch.
Though unless you are carful the avatar makes it more obvious who is causing the problems than the post body.
