Fix shoulder buttons on Ninty handhelds!

Uh, so my R button has been acting up on my DS Lite. It either doesn't work or I need to press REALLY hard for it to register.

So I searched on the Nintendo forum, and a post by NDS_MASTER there says "Try blowing into it several times really hard. It actually sort of works. My R and L buttons were not working at all, and when I blew into them they started working again. "

So I blew into the crevices around my R button, and it works now! Hrm! I guess lint from my pocket got in and clogged it up or something. Oh and I didn't blow "really hard" or anything.

Yeeeep. I guess I'd pass this info along. I thought you had to twist the DS or yank/tug at the button, but the blowing method worked. Btw, if you have a B button on your GCN controller that seems to be stuck, twist the two halves of the controller gently, as if you were wringing out a towel. Someone here posted that a long time ago.

Huh. If I'd known that, I probably wouldn't be on my 3rd Ds Lite right now thanks to Nintendo's replacement service. Good to know for the future though.

Did you highlight those parts to make it sound like you were doing dirty things with your DS?

    don't metamod

his point is also accurate, seeing as the op was attempting to emphasize the higlighted points which is what a tl;dr is

metamodding or community self moderation? anyways i thought he was "pre-empting" others saying TL;DR by saying it first himself

What the fuck does TL;DR mean? I've been trying to figure it out since I got here.

EDIT: Also, My R button has never acted up on me. Is it prone to wear and tear?

    Too Long; Didn't Read

As for the shoulder buttons, if they are held down for long periods of time, they start getting stuck and have problems working

I guess they're trying to keep an age old tradition alive. Gaming is not the same if you don't blow on the hardware components.

And It's good to know that it works, anyway. If my DSLite acts up, I'll have that trick up my sleeve.

It actually is a tiny game cartridge which clicks into a secondary cart slot to in turn create the reaction similar to a 'button'. If you take out the button and put it into the main cart, there's a hidden maze game where you play as a snail.

The button can also be removed, which reveals that it is actually a tiny tape. All you need is a Soundwave, and then you can play it.

However, in a twist of irony, Soundwave must be in his ROBOT form, not his tape player form for it to play.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I was playing Rocket Slime and I was finding it nearly impossible to switch carried items around unless I stopped what I was doing and jammed on the button. It works a bit better now.

Man, this is amazing. I'm pretty sure it worked, although the problem had been intermittent so I'm not certain if it's gone for good. Thanks, though, I was actually going to send it in.

Hrm. I tried Mario Kart and the R button didn't work. I took a can of compressed air and used it a bit. Now it works... I hope it'll be working without me having to blow into it every time.

So I read this thinking to myself that it had to be bullshit. I still have a fatty and the shoulder buttons have gone to crap in the last few months and were making more than a few games a serious pain the ass to play. I tried the blowing thing and not only do they work perfectly now, but as soon as I tried them I noticed they feel like actual buttons again. Of course now I've lost my excuse to buy a Lite since now my fatty is working great again.

S'cuse me, I'm gonna go spend some time with Rocket and farm some more Goddess Statues.

WTF? The same thing happened to me with my white DS lite and I just sold the sucker and got a black one. I wish I had tried that, it's very possible that the same thing had happened to me.
