    Oh, for the girl, anything by Roald Dahl! You can start on things like The Twits, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Magic Finger, Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, and work up to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, etc.

    If this family is big into Star Wars, I would definitely say to get them to Heir to the Empire trilogy by Timothy Zahn if they don't already have it.
