anyone have any good.. er...non-traditional cookie recipes? I love making cookies, but LOVE experimenting. Odd flavor combinations, ingredients, etc.. or know wheres a good place to look?

Im not sure what to google for that.. I get a lot of halloween style cookies.. traditional ingredients, just scary looking, if ya know what I mean. Will continue to google, just in case.

I got them off amazon for cheap with Prime. They don't have the tetris one though.

I bought both the Space Invaders and Tetris ice trays/molds from ThinkGeek about a month ago. They're both pretty awesome. :)

I'd be pretty quick to suggest my favourite; Peanut Butter Quickies. I'm slightly biased towards those though.

Hey, how did this get on page 2? =)

Sorry I've been gone all week guys: I take the train down for my new job, and Amtrak's internet services fail much, much worse than I ever feared. This is the first time I've had more than 5 minutes of real internet usage all week! =(

    Hello,

    I am now here :)

My hubby is an enforcer and told me about the cookie brigade. I would love to help. We can not afford to send the hubsters and our roommate as well as me so I can not help passing out however I would love to bake some cookies and drop them off on Friday and Saturday. I was looking on line for cookies to make for my son's b-day and saw red shirt gingerbread bears and died laughing. I am going to make them gingerbread men since I do not have a bear cut out. i wanted to know what you all thought.

    redshirtbears.jpg

    Will they sell?

I am also planning on making a few batches of something more decadent like triple choco chunk brownies and coolies. I wish I could be there to help sell em but it is not in the cards. My daughter and I do want to contribute as many cookies as we can turn out :)

Oh! When I last spoke with her, she said she was going to call me Friday morning for pickup... if Thursday night is better and you're dropping them off, perhaps we can coordinate? Are you going to be on the pub crawl? Or perhaps we can meet at the Sheraton? PM me with preferences!

Also, DigitalGeisha, join up on the Google Groups list in the first post! We've got some resources there for ways you can even ship them out if you want... or we can start talking about meetings and meetups, and you can bring them to the first one! I think Hypatia is planning out meeting times and locations as we speak, and she'll be talking about it in the Google Group!

Vthorn: I wont be able to do that pub crawl because A) I wasnt able to get cash-money for such shenanigans, and B) Im carting around an expired driver's permit cuz my real ID was stolen when my wallet was jacked some 8 months ago.

Covet had said that she and her friends were going to the Pre-PAX Dinner on the way, and that they'd be cool with picking me up (And the cookies).

Jessica, my friend at 3.14, is a 6th grade teacher, and she forgot when she spoke on the phone with you that her "real job" starts back up on like the 1st. So I took it upon myself. Covet said she's cool with the pickup/transpo, but from there I dont know where to go. Since Im kinda in the dark as to where the Pre-PAX Dinner is located (Or even whether or not Ill be able to attend, since I am *GASP* still poor), this is where I leave it you wonderful people =D

    Oh, you said PM you...

Shaddz - do you need more employees? I'm trying to find a job so I can move from Cali to Seattle, but I have to be IN Seattle to get a job. Go figure.

I make the world's best cheesecakes, and I won a Wal-Mart cookie baking contest, and a different Wal-Mart cookie decorating contest. I had a Portuguese Chocolate Cake sell at an FFA fund raiser once for $400. :)

I was trying to figure out how I could bake a cheesecake while I was up there. Hey, I could crash a BAKERY! lol! I have a flock of ladies wanting cheesecake and no way to deliver it. Story of my life. Irish Cream and Chocolate with sour cream, or Apple and Caramel Cream Liqueur w/ crumbles.

Anyway, next question to everybody. I remember the cookie brigade on the PAX Train last year. Is there any information about that? I get on the train in Paso Robles and I can have some cookies ready to hand over as soon as I get one, but I doubt they'd make it to PAX proper.

I need an excuse to make my Domino cookies again. I still haven't perfected them (but they won the Wal-Mart thing - it was just local, no big). Light dough and dark dough pressed into a cookie sheet in rows. The light dough has cream cheese in it. The dark dough is chocolate mint. The light side has dark chocolate chips and the dark side has white chocolate chips. The chips are placed so that when you cut the cookies, they look like dominos. The chocolate/mint/cream cheese ROCKS YOUR WORLD! But they don't bake the same way and aren't even. The cream cheese side holds its shape and the chocolate side wants to flatten out. YOUR MOUTH DOESN'T CARE THOUGH!

So I'm having concerns about making baked goods as I had some bills come up this month and want to have a bit of spending money for the actual con. I still want to be a distributor and I can accept deliveries of baked goods to my apartment before the 2nd if anyone wants. If you do want to send your cookies to me, just send me a PM and I'll shoot you details.

Oh, someone from the Brigade was on the train last year? I didn't realize... who was it? That's cool! =) If whoever did it last year can speak up on if they're doing it again, then you guys can coordinate it! Otherwise, join up on the mailing list and send out a message, Hypatia will be coming soon with meeting times in the mailing list! (check the first post of this thread!)

Hey Enigmas: No worries, totally understandable... and its awesome that you can still distribute! No need to coordinate your own cookies for distribution though: that might actually make the whole mess much MUCH more complicated. Instead, please join the cookie brigade google group mailing list linked on the first post! We will be releasing official meeting times and locations soon, as well as contact information with our primary supply caravans (aka DJ if he's coming this year, Hypatia, and me ;) ) so that you can get restocked and safely deposit any donations given in a timely manner!

Goosechecka: Thank you so much for baking! Ideally, we'd like to see them wrapped either individually or into small batches (2-3) that we can hand out to people... wrapped being ziplocks, foil, whatever you can as long as they're wrapped. Loose cookies tend to get frowned on by people when we hand them out... that's often when we get the "are these SAFE?" looks from people. =)

I signed up for the Google group back when I first posted. It didn't look like it was very active, so I thought I'd post here reminding that I could be sent packages before PAX. If anyone sent me anything, I was gonna bring them right to the main distro point. I wouldn't want to take on coordinating my own things.

Hey, all distributors from the previous years: I was just on a podcast, and one of the people running it brought up a good point. We should collect your stories about the best experiences you've had as distributors, directly interacting with people at PAX!

Did someone give you an unusually large amount of money for Child's Play?

Did you have someone gush with joy upon receiving a cookie?

Did you have some other fantastic or amazing thing happen?

Post here about it! We're going to try and collect your stories! I'm kicking myself now because I totally hadn't thought of it before, but it's a really good idea to collect these stories and put them together so that distributors know the great things that happen at PAX!

On the WCTT up last year, we had breakfast with some random middle aged women, who had all sorts of questions about PAX and the PAXtrain group and Cookie Brigade and Child's Play. They wound up giving us 50 bucks for "Whatever you want to give us, just a few". It was very strange.

Speaking of cookies on the train, here's what's coming up on the Coast Starlight this year...

I've managed quite a few bags 'o candy. Hopefully they'll be a hit, so far my candy guinea pigs have all said they're nom worthy, though we did stick a bit of a warning on the bags ("WARNING: SUCK DO NOT CHEW" har har intended) because they're really meant to be sucked on, not chewed, they're very very chewy if you try and will probably take out fillings.

The bags are all labeled with flavors and ingredients.

    Red - Strawberry
    Blue - Raspberry
    Clear/Green - Pina Colada

I'm cranking them out as best as I can. Current count is 109 bags of four candies each. I'm hoping I can knock out three more batches tomorrow ( 72 candies per batch, 18 bags) before I ship it out to Alex's hotel on Tuesday. I'll probably keep a couple of them on me in case people manage to track me down.

Also assuming since I'm just making and shipping to a distributor I only need to catch up with anyone for a button right? I went looking and couldn't find the meeting information.

Well I won't be -officially- distributing. However I plan to hold on to a couple of the bags 'o candy to give out to random people. So if I see you guys and I still have some left, I'll make sure any donations get to the Brigadiers for candy that is had! I'm assuming since I'll be shipping to Alex that he will be the one distributing the candy.

    Snicker doodles
    Spice Cookies
    Ginger Snaps
Lemon Bars (<- these are good)
Gooey Chocolate Caramel Bars (<- these are fantastic
    Lemon Sand Tarts
Chocolate Toffee Chip cookies (<- I brought these last year and they were a hit, you might recall them)
