In honor of the latest "biggest entertainment release in history", I'm down with playing some BC2 on the new PA server this evening. Not that running around in a tiny box shooting guns with no recoil and getting killed from BS killstreaks isn't appealing, but I'd rather not enrich Kotick's Coffers any further.

Yeah, I was just thinking how true this is after playing a ton of both games last night. COD really is just running around in circles. The guns (and your character too) just feel like they have no weight whatsoever.

I used to love the COD games. With this one I just feel indifferent. MP is exactly the same as the last few, but with a bit better balancing. I finished up the SP portion last night, and it was very good.

But going back to BC2 afterwards was like putting on that favorite old pair of comfortable slippers. Ahhhh. :P
And I think playing so much twithcy reaction Blops made me better last night. Had several of the best matches I've had in while as a Recon... with a Thompson.

Still a lot of people playing this on the 360 at night. Excellent.

So I just recently grabbed this off of Goozex, greatly enjoying it. I've seen a lot of dislike for a lot of the VIP maps. So...I'm guessing it's not worth purchasing then?

Arica Harbor Conquest is my favorite map (call me horrible) and that's VIP.

Did you buy the game for PC, or new for PS3/60?

The VIP maps are just different configurations of maps that were already in the game. Some are better than others, but most are decent.

Basically: People like to complain.

If you enjoy the game, you'll probably want to look into the Vietnam expansion, which is slated to come out "Winter 2010". Interest in BC2 will definitely be going up at that point, especially after the CODBLOPS honeymoon is over.

Goozex implies console, and VIP is only for consoles (PC gets all the maps for free).

Also, Arica Harbor Conquest isn't a bad map, it's just "ok". If we want to get into a real debate...

I like Nelson Bay. It's one of my favorite BC2 maps.

Nelson Bay is an awful map.

I tried sniper-shotgun yesterday and was surprised at how well it worked. Toss a pokeball, keep the enemy from guessing where you are by jumping out of top floor windows and running back up from the bottom, and you've got a serious case of awareness imbalance ripe for exploitation by buckshot.

Also, I'm just horsing around on the server right now, and it seems a little bit laggy. It won't display my ping, either.

The name is "Penny Arcade Public Server", which is too long for the search box, just put in "Penny"

I tried, it's just flat not in my list. I've done a full refresh several times. I don't have any weird filters turned on.

e: Son of a...yes I did, I had Rush set in my filters, you guys are playing Conquest :P

I had the same issues today, almost two hours spent dicking around with the server browser.

Protip: add this to gamesettings.ini, on the "Recentgames=" line.
After the ';' add "1039341587,b1584c3f-8e36-4c12-845e-e981f9d7a7a4,Penny Arcade Public Server;"
without the quotes which will add the server to the recent history. It added to my list, but it was grayed out.

Weird, I can't find it in the server browser. All filters off, set to all maps, all game modes, all regions. It should show up when I search for it.

Edit: Found it the hard way. Got all servers, went through alphabetically. Thanks a bunch for not putting any weird symbols in front of the name.

I think the server name search might be case sensitive. It didn't show up when I searched for "penny arcade", but did when I searched for "Penny Arcade". Maybe that info will help someone else.

I am 99% sure it is case sensitive. Searching for Australian server hosts with their silly naming conventions.
I think it also had trouble if you put a number in first. For instance 3fl wouldn't show up with anything. I'd have to just type in fl for it to find them.
