Couple folks asked about low stats and how they should affect your character.
Basically a 6 in a mental stat can mean a lot of things, not just that you're dumb. You could be absent-minded, disinterested, or just too lazy or unmotivated to put much effort in to memorizing facts. Don't feel too constricted with your character based on abilities, just play something that feels right for who you're trying to play.
All you people doing drawings, they are fantastic. (If you aren't drawing don't worry because I am still going to pick who I think is going to fit best into the game, not who can draw pretty pictures). Gonna look over some of the new characters. Gosh there sure is a lot of them. Enough for like at least another game or two. That maybe someone could run.
I mean, these are some pretty good characters, and I'd hate to see them go to waste.
Hint hint.
Also, yes, I meant 7/3.
Edit: The low stat thing goes for the high stats as well, a 16 INT dude isn't a genius, he's just pretty bright, and has a good handle on retaining knowledge.
Also regarding the weapons thing being out of place. Most people aren't carrying around weird stuff like war-fans and greatspears and falchions around. Those were just examples of the kind of thing your person could feasibly use. In theory. (I don't know why the weapons thing is so awful, I just copy pasted it.)
There was that samurai with the cubone who had a sword in the anime, right? Plus you'll feel pretty good about carrying around that club when your pokemon gets stuck in an Arena Trap and a particularly mean-spirited Dugtrio starts trying to kill it rather then KO it.
Jump in there alongside your companion and protect his shit, yo.

It's not really a deal breaker, it's just the kind of thing that makes you think and then you remember that Pokémon makes no sense. A fact we usually have pushed to the back of our minds.
Also, working on my character now. SHould have a completed submission soon
Well, consider those Bad Guy Teams where people always ask "why did they lose a pokemon battle to a 10 year old and just give up? couldn't they pull a knife on him or something?"
Yeah, not everyone is going to be following the official battling rules. Some people ask themselves, is it easier to KO a team of six pokemon, or should I just "accidentally" have a fire blast hit the other trainer, and in doing so stop him from sending out anymore pokemon?
Edit: Curse you, last son. Also curse my curiosity, but mostly you.
Marsh if you haven't you might wanna peruse some of the Pokemon Adventures manga. The trainers in those are generally actively involved in the battle, unlike in the anime.
I mean since obviously this hasn't become nerdy enough yet.
I kind of see this playing out as a mix of bad Pokemon fanfiction and the series of comics based on ping pong G&T did a while back, Paint the Line 2.
"Your final fight is a double battle. Team Rocket twins, using the experimental Rocket Balls. Since you no longer have a partner, you'll have to manage on your own. We received one last transmission from your partner's PokeGear before it broke the atmosphere."
..."Sir, he said... he said to 'Catch 'em all.'"

they sure took some liberties with ruby and sapphire in the manga

The better question is "Why in a world where we apparently have LASERS that reduce ones mass to almost nothing and store it as data within a capsule are we using knives instead of some kind of advanced laser guns?"
ANd of course the better answer is "Don't think about it it just doesn't make sense on any level".

Well, sure. You can pull a knife on the guy who's living flamethrower is still conscious and able to kick your ass. Let me know how that works out for you.
(Now, only fighting with Pokemon out at time, in order, like proper gentlemen, when you could just throw all six out...)

His father basically looks like the lumberjack from that one episode of Ren and Stimpy.
Oh man
I am guiltily making a character for this. (I am secretly a pokenerd.) (I secretly lurk the pokemon thread.)

Pokemon fan fiction wasn't enough
you had to go and motivate people into doing Pokemon fanart of their fan-made characters, didn't you Squall

It'll be fun though, that's what counts. I guess.
Edit: And if it happens to be decent fanfiction, if you can imagine such a thing, that would be pretty cool.

Was looking to see if I could find full rules around, instead I got mental scarring.

And of course I've read the manga, Speed, that's why I had Henry give Cassandra a wide-brimmed straw hat.
Edit: actual Pokemon Special Manga spoiler in here:
Yellow was a stupid character
and I was willing to let it slide
but then Gold was a stupid character too
That is some nice art of her though

But I liked what I had read
