Seriously, offensive engy is the only way to play the class. The feeling of satisfaction you get when your dinky little sentry kills half their team is amazing. And it is definitely viable on CP maps. I've dominated many a time with the sentry+shotgun combo.
Still I remember a post a while back complaining that Engineers never put up teleporters for them to use
I'd like to counter-complain that if I put up a teleporter, watching it get destroyed because nobody is using it and a lone scout finds it is pretty damn annoying

In my day a blue engineer would make his way from spawn to the final point in goldrush 3 before building a base on their battlements before the game advanced.
I have yet to win a melee fight with an eyelander or axe demo
ever
I miss way too often in melee fights, period.
this is probably why they win more often, if i am not mistaken the axe has the extended range the sword has? seems that way to me, but then so does the kukri
the sword and axe extended range make melee fights 10 times easier even if you are critless
Got a Safe 'n' Sound, crafted that with my Mining Hat to make a Trophy Belt. That's the third one of those I've found/crafted. I also had two Yellow Belts and a Panama. All for my least played class.

this is probably the funniest post ever
I crafted away all of my items to get it. With the cap of 7ish items per week it'll probably take me until 2011 to get them back.
God damn, what a complete bunch of Dumphkofs. I was playing a medic (mixing it up between soldier and medic now) and was playing on offence a payload map. After we reached the second CP I did 75% of the cart pushing by myself since one half of the team were using a teleporter to get behind enemy lines and camping out there and I have no idea what the others were doing.
They seemed to refuse to get behind the damn thing. I was playing one of the squishiest classes in the game and got more caps that anyone. Ugh.
Do you guys follow the team, one person or head your own way as a medic? I found myself taking the less traveled routes and waiting just outside enemy lines for anyone to come past so I could help them out as they assualted on their own/in pairs and it worked incredibly well. Eventually I was sending ubered team-mates into enemy lines from the routes that the enemy weren't really concentrating on since most of my team were clustered in one area.
Doing fantastic as a soldier at the moment, but prefer the gunboats 100% over the buff banner. Firstly, I save a lot of health meaning I have way more mobility with rocket jumping, and secondly, it's rare I last that long to use the banner. Also, who here uses the direct hit a lot? I don't use it because I get 90% of my kills with splash damage and hardly see others using it too.

You know what we should do? We should get a bunch of Halo and Earbud wearing Natascha heavies and make a grand tour of random servers.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Why the fuck would you craft a mining light and a Safe 'n' Sound? Those are good hats!

I only keep my favorite hat for each class, jeez.
That's terrible. You just know that they'll put in trading next week, now. Only because of how horrible you are.

One guy in a 24/7 pl_goldrush server has inspired me to try not sucking as a targelander, though. The map changes after about 80 minutes (IIRC), but:
He played targelander the entire game, no class or loadout switching. He has some fucking uncanny aim with grenades.
