Buying a book because it is incredibly lame is a time-honoured pastime. Sure it makes no sense from a logical standpoint but sometimes you just have to see it for yourself. See Rise of Arsenal #3.
I think I was more annoyed by the combination of that AND his comments that Superman has "potential" but this is "every 'Batfans' (as if every Batman fan is a douchey Superman hater) criticism of the character made manifest". Surprise surprise, shit comics are shit. What exactly was he expecting? I guess he's going to read Widening Gyre next and oh no, Batman had so much potential but it's blah, blah, etc.
'sides, I do think it's pretty poor form buying shit comics new. Wait until the shop drops the price a bit or just go read the really crappy parts at Scans Daily or something.

He was just a weed in the army, got given super bufness which he in turn used to bed a bevy of women well beyond his prior pay-grade and magically became super tactical and bad-ass.

Cap for the last few years has been a pain, not a Rulk pain, just a glaring pain, like after you stand for too long and your feet get sore. He was right in Civil War but he did it in an ass-tastic way using ridiculous reasoning and ultimately he died a traitor after having got a bunch of his friends arrested or killed and helping, alongside Stark, to bring about Secret Invasion. He's a symbol, but he is but a genetically enhanced man and when he's shoehorned into fights against the fucking Sentry, he gets tiresome.
Its the Sentry.
The Sentry.
And somewhere in the back of his mind he felt that throwing his shield at him would be a useful addition to the fight. You know when Norman told Taskmaster off for getting involved with Thor? He'd have said the same thing to Cap, "go do something useful".
Nova on the other hand has just been on a continual rise for the past few years, he was able to avoid involvement in WWH, SI and CW preserving his character, he saved the universe a bunch, fought off the Phalanx virus, got it on with Gamorrah, absorbed the entirety of the Nova Force and defeated Ego and the Worldmind to save a tonne of ill-trained, innocent Nova recruits, He was a low-ranking Earth hero and hes gone out and become capable, through experience, to lead groups against universe destroying entities.
And now hes working for Steve Rogers doing recon on Mars for some reason.
Now thats not to say Cap is the worst character at the moment, far from it, Rulk is the obvious candidate there and Cap is at least better than Stark who not only helped bring about WWH, SI and CW but also Dark Reign and the murder of Black Goliath. He is directly or indirectly responsible for the few last world-changing events in a bad way and got a blank slate on it all and is still unrepentantly smug.
I just want to say that the last couple of pages of this thread is possibly the best thing I've read all day. I've also been awake for 24 minutes, so that's not saying much.

Like I said before, I think Rulk is a perfectly workable and even intriguing character in the right hands. Those hands just do not belong to Jeph Loeb. I also agree with TLB, that there is no such thing as a bad character, just bad characterization/writing.
Anyway, I caught a scan of Thanos Imperative and it just sucks that in the cancerverse that Ms. Marvel was able to be at Mar-Vell's bedside when he was dying on Titan instead of in the 616 where she wasn't in Death of Captain Marvel and missed being able to say goodbye to the man she loved so much that why she became a g-d superhuman/hero (since the pscyho-magnetron was basically a wishing machine) because she was stuck in Limbo being raped by Marcus.
tl; dr - Jim Shooter can get fucked up the ass sideways with a rusted Buick.
