So the Fable 360 controller is wireless. Just saw an ad for it on my dashboard. I'd find a link for it somewhere but I'm posting this from my iPhone.

I'm sad they couldn't get the Tron one wireless, too.

I bet its because it's glowing. The added power requirement (by my estimation) Makes batteries not really an option.

I'm so glad the Tron controller is wired. It looks awesome and I'm so sick of the wireless ones crapping out on me. "Joystick drifting" or whatever.

Plus the flashing low battery lights are very annoying.

There's a cutscene from the game out.

    Game Cutscene

It's not too bad, though it seems pretty clear that the game is being aimed at an audience that's a hell of a lot younger than I am.

I actually just got off the phone with Disney PR today and Tron 2.0 came up - apparently Propaganda's been using it as a model whenever possible, especially when it comes to the multiplayer. (And seriously, if there are ever any questions y'all have about TRON which you'd like me to ask the Mouse, just holla and I'll see what I can find out!)

Also, nu TRON content (TRONtent?) - a featurette with some of the voice actors (Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, John Glover, etc.) talking about reprising their roles in the game:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OqPT9_X7d4

I can't speak for anyone else but the main thing I took away from this video is that the character design for Abraxas is AWESOME. He looks like a neon Nazgul!

Nice featurette. Short but interesting. I'll stick it in the OP later when I've got some spare time.

As regards the character designs.... I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of the new look. I liked the old circuit pattern and the inconsistent lighting on them. I understand why they changed it, but the new designs are a touch too minimalist for my tastes. That said, I do like Abraxus' look though. He's got more neon on him than most and looks somewhat like the old designs.

    Tell us about ze multiplayer?

Is Jeff Bridges going to be in it?

Sadly Jeff's not confirmed for the voice cast; he's pretty much the only major character from the movie who's just doing the movie.

As for the multiplayer, there's going to be four different modes: straight-up deathmatch and team deathmatch, a Capture The Flag mode, and a zone control mode where you get victory points by maintaining control over sections of the map. Vehicles will be available in both SP and MP. It's also worth pointing out that character progression is persistent over SP and MP, so basically every step you take helps level up your character; also if you're connected to PSN or XBL the game can automatically integrate multiplayer gameplay into the main SP game with challenges. Here's a link to an interview the design director did with PS3News; also I'll go ahead and copy over the Official Multiplayer Fact Sheet with more details:
    • The TRON: Evolution multiplayer modes feature 10-player online competitive multiplayer with programs battling on game grids based within the franchise.
    • Like the single player experience, players move through environments using free roaming, climbing and vehicles while battling with high mobility combat and discs
    • The game will include four multiplayer maps each allowing four multiplayer modes.
    • On the release date, two more free maps are scheduled to be available as downloadable content by using a code found in the game case.
    • More maps and game content are scheduled to be available as downloadable content after release.
    • Online multiplayer games can include both players and AI bots in the two maps featuring close-quarters combat. Players can choose teams that include players and AI bots or join together on one team to battle a team of AI bots in a co-op set-up.
    • With persistent character progression, players can level up their character either in single-player mode or online multiplayer mode. Their character’s status will carry over to both modes. For example, a player can level up his or her character in single player mode and then take that character with advanced weapons and protection into the online multiplayer combat.
    • In single-player mode, players can choose quickly to be transported into multiplayer arenas. Their single-player game is automatically saved.

    Vehicles

    Light Cycles

    • Players will have the choice of selecting among three light cycles as they progress through the game. The three light cycles have different handling and features.
    • In two of the maps, all players can transform into light cycles at any time to move freely around the environments.
    • The light cycles are fast, nimble vehicles that leave light trails that can derezz opponents.
    • Players can also throw their disc at enemies while moving on certain light cycles
    • Light cycles can turn both on arcs or on right angles

    Tanks

    • The two vehicle maps also have tanks available.
    • Tanks are available to the first player to access them.
    • The tanks provide the advantage of being strong and powerful but are also slow.
    • With the proper skill and strategy, players on foot and on light cycles can destroy tanks.

    Map Overview

There will be four online multiplayer maps each suited for different styles of combat and strategy. Half are larger maps that enable players to transform into light cycles or access one of the limited tanks on the map.

The names of the maps and descriptions are:

    • Defrag – This map takes place on the outskirts of the cities. This is a large map featuring vehicles
    • Circuit Board – This is another large map with platforms and vehicles
    • Hard Disk – This is a medium-sized map with movement on foot only and vertical architecture enabling free roaming movement and climbing
    • Heat Sink – This is another medium-sized map with movement on foot only and a vertical structure

    Modes

Four game modes are available for each map. The modes provide a variety of gameplay challenges for players of all skill levels.

    • Disintegration – Players compete individually to derezz their opponents most. The player with the highest derezz total, having wiped out the most players, wins.
    • Team Disintegration – Teams compete to derezz the other team’s players.
    • Bit Runner – A central bit is available to be acquired. Teams compete to pick up the bit and stay on the grid while the other team attempts to derezz the bit runner and acquire the bit. The team with the most points holding the bit wins.
    • Power Monger – Teams compete to secure capture points. Energy nodes have to be linked in order to gain points.

    Pick-Ups

Each map features various pick-ups that enable players to acquire advantageous powers

    • Overcharge (appearing like a DNA strand) – This pick-up enables players to refill their health and energy.
    • User Mode (appearing as the TRON symbol) – This enables the player to be impervious to attacks for a limited time.
    • Equalizer – This pick-up enables players to have a one-hit derezz of their opponents for a limited time.

I played the heck out of tron 2.0, it is very nice to hear they are pulling inspiration from that game. It was one of the more impressive games of that generation, one of the first rpg/fps hybrids, had a ton of exploration, not a bad source of inspiration at all. I wish it was on steam.

    WHO LOVES YA, BABY:
What are the minimum computer specs?

    "Microsoft® Windows® 7 / Vista® SP2 / XP® SP3
    3.0 GHz Intel® Pentium® D processor or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+ or equivalent processor
    1.5 GB RAM (Windows® 7 / Vista®) / 1.0 GB RAM (Windows XP®)
10 GB free hard drive space
    256 MB DirectX® 9.0c-compliant, 3D video card supporting Shaders 3.0 (NVIDIA® 8800 GT or higher, ATI Radeon™ HD 3870 or higher)
    NOTE: Onboard (built-in) integrated chipsets are not supported (e.g., Intel® on-board 8xx/9xx series chipsets, SiS and S3 series, ATI® Mobility Radeon® 7500 & X1300)
    16-bit DirectX® 9.0c-compatible sound card
    DVD-ROM drive
    DirectX® 9.0c (included)
    Internet connection"
About the only question I'd really want answered is whether or not there'll be a playable demo available at some point.

"Unfortunately, there is not a downloadable demo scheduled."

and an old question I thought I'd get an official answer on just for posterity's sake:
Tron 2.0 had a pretty slick multiplayer mode called Override. Standard CTF type stuff except that you could jump onto a lightcycle at any given time (Lightcycles and Program-based multiplayer were two different beasts back then). Can we expect anything like that here?

"TRON: Evolution enables the player to transition into a light cycle and then back on-foot in the vehicle-based maps. There are also light tanks on these vehicle maps that are acquired by the first player to access them."

If you have any other questions about TRON: Evolution, let me know and I'll try to get 'em answered!

    Huh.

So it appears that the release date is Dec 7th for the US, but the Australians get this on the 25th Nov and us Europeans get it on the 26th Nov.

That's moderately unusual. Pretty damn rare for us guys to get stuff earlier than the US. Last game I remember that happening for was Alan Wake.

The list of trophies & achievements just dropped - here's links to the rundowns (as always w/ trophy lists, watch out for spoilers!):

    http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/tron-evolution/achievements/ - Achievements

    http://www.ps3trophies.org/game/tron-evolution/trophies/ - Trophies

Plus one other blurb about in-game collectables from the press release:
Also, the single player game features items that the player can choose to collect. These collectibles are either noticeable in the game or found in remote hidden areas. There are 29 TRON files that provide more information about the game in the Extras menu. There are also six Abraxas shards that enable an audio file to play in the Extras menu to learn more about the deadly virus and secrets of the Grid. Collecting all 29 TRON files results in earning an Achievement or Trophy. Separately, an Achievement or Trophy is achieved by collecting all six Abraxas shards.
