My brother gave me my Tron 360 controller as an early b-day gift. The analog sticks aren't very precise. You have to move them all the way in any direction to get a response so games like Call of Duty are unplayable with them, but that is the only complaint. Everything else if fine and the controller is so pretty especially if you're playing in a dark room.

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
As a heads-up, Darren Hedges from Propaganda Games - aka one of the principle developers on TRON: Evolution - is fielding questions about the game on the discussion board of TRON: Evolution FB app! Here's a link - if you have any questions, now's your chance to go to the source and ask!
ok, the game is going to be nearly 100% canon. I'm sold. They had lots of access to the movie people and sets so, Yea. Sold.
Ain't no "nearly" about it - TRON: Evolution is complete & total canon! The story takes place between the events occurring between the first movie and TRON: Legacy; it's basically the bridge between the two movies.

Well, there is actually. I've heard people say that before and add some goofy stuff in that was clearly not canon. Saying it and then hearing a very good explanation on why it will be canon are two different things
I think the thing that seems the most interesting to me is that after i've beaten the game, I can go roam around and see what cool things I can see and get to.
As an editorial aside, I finally heard the movie soundtrack and it's pretty great - thankfully I had heard Bangaltar's previous soundtrack work on Irreversible, so I didn't go in expecting unrelenting BOSH-BOSH-BOSH dancefloor insanity. (Not that the TRON OST doesn't have a few bangers - QED "Derezzed"!)
Also, here's a few comments from the developers about the multiplayer - thought y'all might be interested:
For myself, what I enjoy most about multiplayer has to be the Light Cycle and its versatility within the games. It’s one of those features that in multiplayer are easy to pick up, but takes some time and skill to master.
I’ll give you a couple examples. Using 90 degree turns is simple to execute, but if you overuse them or use them poorly, can put you in some trouble. We also allow you to rezz in and out of the bike at will. An opponent drops a trail in front of you, and with the right timing, you can rezz out of the bike, use the cycles momentum to carry you over the trail, and rezz back into the bike before you hit the ground.
Skillful players can even take this too the next level by jumping off their bikes into a parkour chain to capture an objective or make a quick escape.
Drezzing your opponent on a Light Cycle is all about anticipating and outwitting the other combatant’s movements. I really enjoy that aspect of the Light Cycle combat…and it just feels great when you see the other guy smash into tiny data fragments after I dropped a Light Wall in front of him.
Oh my god, I haven't been paying attention to this game but I am such a sucker for blue neon lighting that I'm just going to get the mouse and keyboard.
I'd get the 360 controller, too, except I don't like that it's just straight up branded with TRON on the face. It doesn't look like the computer peripherals have anything like that on them, though.
It helps that I've enjoyed Razer products in the past and have been thinking of replacing my keyboard/mouse anyway.
My wife and I played the lightcycles portion of this game a bit at PAX. Pretty fun, but I hope they allow the jumping mechanism to be turned off. I know it's part of the movie, but it means derezzing is more an accident than the cause of the other player.
I'd pay $20-30 for just the lightcycles, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the game. The movie? Yes, please.
Oh and I'll be getting my glowy blue controllers like so many others here.
Edit: Holy crap that keyboard is amazing!

I'll check with the folks to see if they have any insight on when the keyboard will be available. In the meantime, starting tomorrow we're releasing a bunch of TRON: Legacy-themed Xbox LIVE Avatar gear and a premium theme - here's the media alert with the details:
TRON: Evolution Xbox® LIVE Avatar Items Will Arrive on Thanksgiving
Avatar Clothing, Props and Premium Theme to be Released
November 24, 2010 -- Before the North American release of TRON: Evolution, the video game, on December 7, 2010, TRON fans can show their excitement to enter the Grid by outfitting their Xbox LIVE avatar with TRON: Evolution clothing and themed props. The items will be available exclusively through Xbox LIVE on Thursday, November 25, 2010.
TRON: Evolution, the video game that bridges the gap between the original “TRON” film and the highly anticipated upcoming film “TRON: Legacy,” will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Games For Windows – LIVE and other major video game platforms.
TRON: Evolution clothing available for Xbox LIVE avatars will include:
• Anon gridsuit and helmet
• Quorra’s gridsuit
• TRON’s gridsuit
• Abraxas
• Gibson’s gridsuit
TRON: Evolution props include a light disc, battle baton, TRON bit, and miniature versions of light cycles, a light tank, and a recognizer. The avatar can hold and throw a light disc or wield a battle baton from the game. The light cycles speed around the avatar, leaving a light trail on the ground as they battle each other.
A TRON: Evolution premium theme will also be available. This theme features images from the game and makes the player’s friends appear with TRON: Evolution backdrops and items.
If players want to support TRON: Evolution with real world avatar outfits, T-shirts are also available. These T-shirts for their avatar feature TRON: Evolution, Flynn Lives, Encom and Space Paranoids.
In addition to elements from TRON: Evolution, avatar clothing and props are also available from the original “TRON” film from 1982. These include a classic TRON suit, a classic TRON helmet and a Sark outfit. An original “TRON” light disc is also available to be interacted with just like characters in the classic film.
“TRON: Legacy” opens in U.S. theaters on December 17, 2010, in Disney Digital 3D™.
My wife and I played the lightcycles portion of this game a bit at PAX. Pretty fun, but I hope they allow the jumping mechanism to be turned off. I know it's part of the movie, but it means derezzing is more an accident than the cause of the other player.
If you've got a Wii, you might want to check out TRON: Evolution Battle Grids - it's basically a collection of smaller game modes* designed for single-couch multiplayer, one of which is the classic light-cycle game. I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I actually went hands-on with that mode a couple of months back and it really impressed me; it controls really well (basically you tilt to steer, shake to jump, and use the d-pad for 90-degree L/R turns) and the visuals are pretty great by Wii standards. Here's the trailer:
*NOT, I repeat, NOT "minigames"; they're just smaller in scope than the next-gen titles. I bought my Wii on launch day and I'm all too familiar with what the specific term "minigames" connotes.
My desire for that keyboard was cooled considerably once I learned how much cash I'd have to fork over to get it.
Honestly 100+ bucks is pretty standard for a good programmable keyboard. I certainly have no problem paying an extra 50 bucks for bad ass tron sounds and glowing shit. Cause I'm shallow like that. 8-)
Also I will love you forever trondis if you can get an answer cause the internet is completely barren for info. The only actual date was October which clearly isn't the case.
Microsoft decided to randomly give me 800 MS points back even though I didn't think I qualified for the 'spend 2400, get 800 back' promotion. I think it's only fair that I spend part of it on Tron's gridsuit for my avatar.
I'd have to feel the keyboard first before I bought one. However, it looks like it has a TON of features that make the 150$ price point seem reasonable. It would have to surpass razors own 130$ keyboard too. Individual backlit keys and full performance.
The reason it isn't very good is down to the controls, the targeting and - on some occasions - the camera. They suck. Getting your avatar to go in a straight line is something of a challenge and given some of the jumps you need to do, that can be a problem. And the single tank section I've played through was... well, imagine the most fractious and awkward shopping trolley you ever had the misfortune to use. It was like that. I had to fight to get the damn thing to go forward.
The targeting is also a pain in the arse. Locking on to an enemy and staying locked on is more a question of luck than anything else. I'm only up to the third level and fights are proving to be massively irritating because I end up wasting tons of energy because instead of slamming a special move into an enemy, it'll more often than not end up being wasted either on thin air or an enemy that's resistant to it because the lock-on will either shift or just cease depending on where the camera is pointed. The only real way to be certain of your targeting is to use the Lock On button... which just happens to be the Block button as well. So when you lock-on to an enemy using it, you're left virtually immobile on the ground... and for added fun, blocking still lets a fair amount of damage through unless you can time counterattacks to perfection. Add in the awkward controls which can make it difficult to regen your health and energy and you'll likely find yourself dying to even simple battles.
And finally the camera is an intermittent problem. Sometimes it's fine, but get too close to a corner and it'll shift to what it thinks is a better angle. If you're in combat, the new angle will likely prevent you from seeing the enemies and any attacks they have coming your way.
Graphics and sound wise, the game is top-notch, but the controls are a real deal breaker. Hate to say it, but I may just end up trading this in and for me to even consider that is a rarity. That said, I still need to try the multiplayer. I suppose there's a remote chance that that could salvage the game.
Honestly though, if you're looking to get this, I seriously recommend waiting for a hefty price drop. I can't imagine it'll take long.
Right now, I'm consoling myself with the fact that I grabbed Fallout: New Vegas along with this for only £20. With a bit of effort, I should be able to convince myself that I actually paid full price for Fallout: New Vegas and only £20 for this. That'll make me feel better.
And you have a Saboteur sig which means you have a high tolerance for shit games
This must be pretty bad
I had high hopes for this. Everyone out there on the net was so optimistic. But the controls and the targeting are just too squirrelly. If those were up to scratch then this would be perfectly enjoyable, but they aren't.
Ah well. Plenty of other games for me to enjoy. There's Vanquish and the PoP trilogy for me to play. Plus my backlog which is far larger than it should be.
And The Saboteur was an excellent game. I've never been sure why people say that it's crap. My guess is that it's because of the story and the outrageous accents... which I personally loved. The controls were solid enough and it was mostly bug free - well, unless you were playing on the PC and had an ATI graphics card, in which case you were utterly screwed until the patch came out. :P
Ok, the controller looks rad, but I've heard that the analog sticks aren't fit for use in Call of Duty. Is it as good as a regular controller, or is it as inferior to a first-party controller?
The reviews I've read say it's not good in first-person shooters
I don't play first-person shooters so I can't tell you
It's excellent for every other game I've used it for, and honestly if it's precise enough for Super Meat Boy it should be precise enough for any FPS out there
Thanks. I think I may buy the controller... It looks so cool, and will match my Samsung monitor perfectly. If it doesn't work well, then it'll be relegated to use for other games.

I was at GameStop today and they had the 360 controller already, grabbing it tomorrow
Only the mouse is out

How is that a negative
I sometimes wonder why my existing products aren't branded with Tron
Seriously

Seriously?
Yep.

Grabbed the 360 controller today and it rules. Definitely prefer it over the standard controller.

The new thread title pretty much says it all.

And you have a Saboteur sig which means you have a high tolerance for shit games

If you guys have a hankering for a Tron game but want it to be good I highly highly highly recommend Tron 2.0
It's an excellent FPS made by Monolith
...oh, you poor Aussies and Brits.
