If you guys have a hankering for a Tron game but want it to be good I highly highly highly recommend Tron 2.0
It's an excellent FPS made by Monolith
I think I'm going to reinstall it right know. I remember that when I played it for the first time I really sucked at FPS keyboard+mouse control (that doesn't mean I'm better now).
And The Saboteur was an excellent game. I've never been sure why people say that it's crap. My guess is that it's because of the story and the outrageous accents... which I personally loved. The controls were solid enough and it was mostly bug free - well, unless you were playing on the PC and had an ATI graphics card, in which case you were utterly screwed until the patch came out. :P
I regret staying away from Saboteur for as long as I did due to people saying it was awful. Oh, it had it's flaws, but it ended up being an awesome game that I enjoyed greatly. Thinking of getting back into it again, actually.

It'd be neat if, in the future, they did a console download release of Tron 2.0
I don't feel like tracking down a Mac copy, and even if I did I really hate KBAM for shooters
There was an Xbox port of the game for [strike]philistines[/strike] gents like you, Unbreakable.
It's not playable on the 360!
Plus it wasn't even a very good port. No checkpoints, dying reverts you to your last save (whenever that was) and not the beginning of the level, audio problems (sounds not playing for certain actions). The only good thing was OverRide mode which combined player combat and lightcycles. But no one played it online.
Plus they tacked on that stupid Killer App subtitle to it.
The reason it isn't very good is down to the controls, the targeting and - on some occasions - the camera. They suck. Getting your avatar to go in a straight line is something of a challenge and given some of the jumps you need to do, that can be a problem. And the single tank section I've played through was... well, imagine the most fractious and awkward shopping trolley you ever had the misfortune to use. It was like that. I had to fight to get the damn thing to go forward.
The targeting is also a pain in the arse. Locking on to an enemy and staying locked on is more a question of luck than anything else. I'm only up to the third level and fights are proving to be massively irritating because I end up wasting tons of energy because instead of slamming a special move into an enemy, it'll more often than not end up being wasted either on thin air or an enemy that's resistant to it because the lock-on will either shift or just cease depending on where the camera is pointed. The only real way to be certain of your targeting is to use the Lock On button... which just happens to be the Block button as well. So when you lock-on to an enemy using it, you're left virtually immobile on the ground... and for added fun, blocking still lets a fair amount of damage through unless you can time counterattacks to perfection. Add in the awkward controls which can make it difficult to regen your health and energy and you'll likely find yourself dying to even simple battles.
And finally the camera is an intermittent problem. Sometimes it's fine, but get too close to a corner and it'll shift to what it thinks is a better angle. If you're in combat, the new angle will likely prevent you from seeing the enemies and any attacks they have coming your way.
Graphics and sound wise, the game is top-notch, but the controls are a real deal breaker. Hate to say it, but I may just end up trading this in and for me to even consider that is a rarity. That said, I still need to try the multiplayer. I suppose there's a remote chance that that could salvage the game.
With regards to the lock-on/block issue, I do think that was a specific design choice to prevent people from parking their thumbs on the lock-on button throughout the duration of the game - I know that by the time I finished the first Assassin's Creed, my index finger was pretty much locked in a rictus from spending so much time on the block button during combat. Of course, if you're not enjoying it, then that's that - still, I'd just give it a little time to settle in before rendering final judgment.
Anyway, sorry to hear your first impressions weren't great - I look forward to hearing your thoughts about multiplayer, though!

Haven't had a chance to get on the multiplayer for this yet - mostly because I've become utterly absorbed on Vanquish at the moment - but some reviews are beginning to hit and so far they're making me think that maybe I haven't given this a fair shake.
1UP's review is pretty much what my first impression of the game was, but the Eurogamer review is considerably more upbeat and it has me wondering whether I missed something whilst playing this.
I think what I'll have to do is start on this from scratch and pay more attention to things. I'll get back to you guys on whether my second impressions are better than the first. Might be a few days before that happens though. Vanquish really has it's hooks into me.
So after hearing about them endlessly on Giant Bomb, I decided I should start taking advantage of pre-order benefits on Amazon that give you $10 or $20 credits
And after hearing Jeff Gerstmann talk about this game, I definitely want to play it, so I just pre-ordered it for Tuesday.
Alas, the forum shutdown even changed the thread title back to "It might not suck"

ya know, one is a ps3 review and one is a 360 review.
I wonder if the ps3 version sucks and the 360 version doesn't.

No, that was me.
As I mutter in my above post - which looks as though it only just survived the Forum Death Event - the Eurogamer review made me wonder if I hadn't been too quick to judge the game. I mean, a 70% from them really should result in a game that I'd like. So, until I manage to get back to it and give it another go, I decided to change the thread title back in the interests of fairness.
I'll try to work up the impetus to have a blast tonight, but I haven't really been in a gaming mood for the last week or so.

except jeff said it was average in every single way. Everything Jeff said basically made me not want to buy it and made it sound like a rental at best. What the heck did he say that made you want to shell out 40 bucks for it??

- I finally heard back from Disney about when the Razer keyboards can be expected; currently they're anticipating a late December launch, although there isn't an iron-clad date locked in yet.
- Finally, got a few new videos to show off too - here's one which talks about how TRON: Evolution fits into the series canon:
Tempting to buy a Tron Wii remote and connect the Epic Mickey paintbrush nunchuck for ultimate lulz.
Edit: Definitely getting the Mickey paintbrush but I'm leaning against the Tron remote simply because I've already got three and that's more than I need.
But it's limited to a run of 20,000 so that alone is making me tempted to pick up one.

I guess I wanted it to not be terrible?
And I'd watch a Tron2.0 LP.

I don't have a capture card or I so would do this.
You need a capture card to do a PC game? Just fire up FRAPS, right?

At least we'll always have Kingdom Hearts 2.
I'm not going to lie though, that keyboard looks sexy as hell.

Luckily for you, I know where to find one. Enjoy

Yeah, I miss the Moebius touch in the art design for this new Tron. It's no deal breaker for me though.

I am kinda psyched!
I'm actually Jeff Bridges. (but seriously, yes, I'm with Disney Interactive's marketing team.)
Edit: Definitely getting the Mickey paintbrush but I'm leaning against the Tron remote simply because I've already got three and that's more than I need.

Howcome you guys got Olivia Wilde and most of the rest of the original cast to VO, but not Bridges?
The game is fun, by the way. I'm like a hour or so in.
Awesome game.

Which I could buy this digitally for OS X somewheres.
