(Just as long as y ou disable physx if you're an ati user)
Even disable it if you are using a single nvidia card. It's implementation is pretty crap, and it's only really usable if you are running a dual video card setup with a nvidia card dedicated to just PhysX.
So yeah you said you have a Phenom II. That should be plenty to run it well. The critical factor here though is video card. Although ME runs extremely well in general on most hardware, even semi old and/or moderate video cards. (Just as long as y ou disable physx if you're an ati user)
I got an Nvidia GeForce 9100; is that good

Okay I'm trying to run BG and E but I accidentally set its resolution settings to one not supported by my TV and now I'm wondering how to reset it back to default

check for a .ini file, usually. I'll look into real fast.

Even though that 9100 is kind of a low-end video card, your CPU seems reasonable and I'm going to assume you have reasonable RAM.
My guess is you'd probably be able to get Mirror's Edge to run playable at a medium resolution on medium quality without any anti-aliasing or anything. And disable Physx just because.
Though I would figure even a mid-range videocard capable of whooping Mirror's Edge and most other games with your decent cpu is probably pretty cheap.
Yeah I'm the reverse of that. I have a medium end video card and shitty CPU. Some Athlon dual core running at 2.1GHZ. Point is the game runs great on medium settings with no AA at 1280x1024 (max monitor can handle) on a shitty dual core. You're set.

Sometimes games have a "safe mode" icon you can run, which will open the game in 640x480 usually.

found this on a random forum:
Go into your Steam > steamapps > common > beyond good and evil > SettingsApplication.exe
On the tab you start out in "Graphics Settings", you can mess with your resolution. Jump to the "Advanced Settings" tab and you can jack up water detail, antialiasing, flare, and shadows quality as high as you want. I had to lower antialiasing just a bit to keep my FPS up.

Did you ever get Thief 3 working okay? I seem to recall you having trouble with it.

That wasn't me that was Spoit, haven't even cracked it open yet
Also B G and E has some major graphical issues...we're talking weird particle effects and just a really weird fragmented screen. It's practically unplayable
Also this might be the game itself but holy shit does it have the worst fucking camera ever

Today on Monty's Behind the Curve, I finally got around to Mirror's Edge from the Steam sale. I'm glad everybody here warns people to play on Easy. If those bullets were any more damaging I'd probably have thrown my controller by now. But when all the cops are merely punching bags for my amusement this game is fantastic.
I actually feel bad about the one dude I did end up shooting accidentally. I know I'm not going for cheevos here but Faith is not supposed to be killing people. I just wish stealth was a little more viable; I'm in a spot now where the patrolling guards hear/see me through a wall and immediately go on alert. Do I have to crouch-walk past dudes or are there just some areas that alert immediately?
I managed to get through the entire game without killing anyone on normal difficulty, so its possible.
Except for a plot required moment or two, I think I never even held or fired a gun.

Try these settings:

Glad I could help
I've also got some BGE issues. Namely that during cut scenes voices do not sync up with models. With Voices getting ahead of the motions. I have a fix for this but it requires running my CPU at full bore, which I'd rather not do. I've messed with graphics options including the ones you gave with no success. Any ideas?
Similar problem with Just cause 2 but eh, I don't exactly play that for story.

Oooh, now I'm going to have to try this soon. I tried playing BG&E but the graphical glitches were almost unbearable. I couldn't tell which item was which.

Now that I know I can kick windows down, I'll never hold a gun again. I only shot the one guy because I disarmed his shotgun and pressed the "drop weapon" button a little too early during the disarm. Then I mashed attack to knock him out and...he's not going home to his wife, let's say.
Faith couldn't handle the guilt so she threw herself off a building four times.
Is the store page broken for anyone else? I haven't been able to get the store page to load for over an hour. Its just a blank black window with nothing in it. Closing and restarting Steam has done nothing to fix the problem. Also, refresh and home buttons aren't fixing it either.
Edit: The news and community pages are broken for me too. They are blank windows same as the store page.
Didn't work for me at first, nor did the friends list but I just refreshed it and it began working..... Despite still saying No Connection at the bottom.
Heh. I just checked my friends list in response to your post. It says I have 0 friends online, but when I open the list, one of my friends is online and playing a game.
I started Mass Effect last night, and by the time I finished the first mission I'd decided my Shepard didn't look right! Too pale! The lips are too wide! The eyes are untrustworthy!
How am I going to get through this without using the default looks?

How am I going to get through this .
I see this happen a lot. Where people make a Shepard and then realize, some hours in, that the Shepard they made isn't quite right the way they wanted him or her. And then you see threads pop up on the internet asking if its possible to tweak your custom Shepard just a little after starting a campaign. And the answer is always the same; no.
I had a similar issue, I made an awesome Shepard. Then I realized an hour in that she had a slight overbite. Very slight but just noticeable enough to bother me. Oh well I got over it and enjoyed the game anyway :P
So I decided to install Thief: Deadly Shadows after buying it during the steam sale. I loaded it up and the game stalled for a moment, then minimized, but seemingly worked fine after I got it back up. However, after I finish the tutorial mission, the game just halts on the loading screen, and crashes.
Does anyone know anything that could help me out here?

Maybe I will play Bioshock 2 afterall...
The first mission is not too long, just start over. The problem ME1 has is that the character creator is a POS and isn't lit correctly, won't show your face at all angles, etc, so your character always looks better in there than in-game. The opening cutscene has kind of the same problem. Make sure you walk around the ship and get some good angles of your character before you decide you are happy with it.
Really I'm not super happy with ME's (either of them) character creator in general. Not very many options and all the female Shepards tend to look kind of ugly. I think the mouths aren't proportioned correctly or something, or the head is too big.. I don't know.. Regardless, it could be better (and Bioware has even done better - Dragon Age has a good one)

I could never figure out the minimize then restore function it does, annoying but it's still playabe. As for your crashing, do you have a multi-core processor? Did you set the affinity to use 1 core? I was having the same issue and this fixed it.

I agree that the creator may not be well lit or let you see all angles that well, but the tools to tweak characters is great, and my female Shepard takes offense to being called ugly because she actually looks quite great! Also I could make celebrity sheps pretty well too.
