Ok, I'm fully convinced that this entire forum only consists of a few people who are reasonable and the rest are people who just spout stupid shit for shock value.
Welcome to the internet.
But yeah, most people on forums don't want to take a reasonable stance on something, but rather take a strictly binary stance on things. You know, like me being wrong for playing a PC game with a 360 controller.
I didn't say you were wrong. I said I didn't understand it and it confused me. Also, it's mostly limited to shooters.
Controllers are preferable for a lot of stuff, such as racing games, platformers and Devil May Cry style action games.
I'm one of those weirdos, too. It's a combination of things for me - 1) I abandoned PC shooters before they started including the mouse and 2) I have a wireless keyboard that drops sync occasionally just long enough to screw me up. My 360 receiver doesn't have that problem. The only game I have right now that I pull out a USB keyboard for is Alien Swarm.
Can they really take the games away? I'm pretty sure that's illegal, they might do it anyway ofc, but still
User Agreements are fuzzy/funny like that.
Most digital copyright sections read something to the effect of "we still own the product you're purchasing from us, you're only buy a license in order to use it and we reserve the right to revoke that license at any time."

Valve does it on a whim sometimes and they don't refund when they do. Nullifying the charges and blocking the cd-key I'm sure won't get them in any trouble.

Valve has done it but if you threaten to sue they usually unblock it in all but extreme circumstances.
You see, I very much doubt they actually want this tested in a court room

There have been instances of accounts being wrongfully banned/closed (not VAC ban) and that blocks all your games. It can be reversed, but only if you know Gabe's email apparently because their customer service is an abomination.

I got VAC banned wrongly yes, but they actually admitted it was while my account was hacked (fucking shocking I know) but then cited their zero tolerance policy, so im going to write gabe.
Total account bans are reversible, but you will have to back and forth with their support quite a bit, which is stupid. The point is they aren't like VAC where support can't unban them, I am with you on it being bullshit though but afaik suing or threatening either gets you refunds or unban unless you did something really bad.
Valve has deactivated keys to games which were bought using another region then put into steam (particularly off those discount sites that sell ultracheap asian keys).

I meant to differ between total account banning and VAC bans since VAC bans don't actually block your games so it wouldn't actually be taking away anything (it just flags you so that people can prevent you from joining their servers).
They may get in minor trouble possibly as a result of people using up bandwidth cap space (do they exist in the US like they do in Europe/Aus where you're extremely limited? I know of comcast but that is 250GB/month which no one hits anyways through residential use)

Go to that google link earlier that displays all the $1 titles.
It's changing constantly. I wonder if they aren't being hacked, so it's a game of cat and mouse over the prices.
I picked up SC:C and POP, SC:C works fine, installing pop here in a moment. I'd just like to take a second and just say how goddamn hard it was to figure out how to launch SC:C. I closed it to get it to pickup my controller I plugged in, took a good 20 minutes to find the stupid .exe in the ubisoft/tom clancy's splintercell conviction/src/system folders.
CorriganX on
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
None of these games actually show as being $1 on the product page. Too bad, I totally would have finally bought NMH2. I hope Ubi plays it cool and lets people keep their stuff, like D2D did with the free Mafia download.
All things considered, it may very well have been more hurtful to them to actually spend the $1, what with bandwidth costs and whatever processing will have to occur when they see all these.

I would be shocked if they didn't quite frankly, since people bought craploads to ebay etc.
Tomorrow I distribute the extras to friends and if I have any left, to you guys
Sounds like I have to stay up all night to make sure SCC works, then. That way I can play horribly wounded customer if they try to take it away.
Moxxi isn't terrible, it just suffers from being the worst of the 3 DLCs. It'd be way way better if you could gain XP and weapons progression though.

Well, not reall. But I was hoping for a game download, not a text file.

I don't know what the others are but nobody actually bought Yaris. Hard to get pissed that somebody took your free game away.

Well, that was one example. I'm not sure what other games they removed.

Yeah.
Get your games in tonight because your key will be dead tomorrow.

Has anyone had any success?
Assuming these install and work with the keys, $3 for 2 games and a txt file is pretty cool. Look ma, I'm living on the edge!

I'm gonna be a sad panda if my Conviction doesn't work in the morning. I'll have to actually buy it.
You know.
With actual money.
Instead of $0.96

But since they have that always-on DRM they could easily just kill the key(s).

I still would pause to think before spending one dollar on it?
No, I'm the same way. I figured, "eh, fuck em" and decided not to give them my dollar.
