Holy shit go get Stalker: CoP if you don't already have it, it's fantastic. I had never played a STALKER game before, and I can't believe Call of Pripyat wasn't a full-priced game at launch. It's really great, those games are so unique.
Also, regarding the Ubisoft Hilarious Sale the other night: For those of us who had the txt file error when buying the Animus Bundle, Ubisoft is very much giving me the runaround. Contacted the Ubisoft store, who told me to contact Ubisoft Support, who is now telling me to "contact the email at the bottom of your purchase confirmation email," an address that is nonexistent.

Keep us updated. If I can turn that $1 text file into the full game I'd be willing to deal with customer service hell for a bit

Ha. I sent a question to the Ubisoft Support but haven't checked the email to see if they have replied yet.
Ubisoft says they will be honored (Digital Downloads) and they are still unsure if the mail copies will be honored.
I'll call them tomorrow and go through the runaround. I want the animus pack, since neither of the other games I got for a dollar are really worth my time with so many unplayed games that I already have downloaded. If I don't get it, oh well.
But you know, piracy is totally responsible for all their woes.
I saw that as well, but it's not clear if that number will solve the $1 txt file issue. Let us know, and I'll update as well if there's any developments on my end.
I feel so spoiled for trying so hard to get this game that they seemingly never intended to sell me at that price. But then again, it's Ubisoft, so fuck 'em.
I don't anticipate they'll honor my $1 preorder of Future Soldier, though.
If they actually honor the preorders, I will be kind of sad because I didn't preorder some of them because I figured they would obviously refund it.
Also, it turns out that digital river sales are all final except in unusual circumstances according to their website. That might be why they can't take them back, even the preorders?
I hope I am around for the next major corporate fuckup.
Guess I should have gotten AC2, eh. Eh, no big deal. I'm sure if I wait long enough it'll end up down at the $5 pricepoint that AC1 ended up at fairly regularly.

That is 500 percent more than the Ubisoft Derp Sale version.
Looks like that steam sale where all of Introversion's games were on sale $5 saved the company from closing down. I still have to play more of their games in depth, but good for them.
Jesus, I had no idea they were in such dire straits. I didn't really like Darwinia, but everyone should own Defcon and Uplink.
Introversion had been in trouble ever since they released Multiwinia and discovered that online multi-player only games not called Quake 3 Arena sell badly.

Even with how ridiculously small introversion is, I'm surprised that 250k was enough to cover their costs for 2 years

No activacion on Steam unfortunately. And dear lord, is it me or does that game run like balls on anyone else's PC? We're talking like Crysis-level framerate drops for a game that doesn't even look all that freaking great. Love those dynamic streaming ads too -- paying an $10 price premium (at release) for the privilege and honor of Ubi making choking out more revenue off of me.
Yes, I'm still complaining even though I paid a dollar for this game, pfft.
Which game are we talking about? AC2 and SC: Conviction ran fine for me, but I have a pretty good PC. I did notice in Conviction that cutscenes would slow down for some reason, but the game runs very nicely.
I don't know if there are any UK Left 4 Dead 2 players reading this thread who aren't in Armadeaddon, but I'm looking for a group of regular UK versus players I can add to my friends list, so I have people to invite to games.
So if you're in the UK, and play L4D2 (Versus) on a regular basis, add me on Steam, please. My Steam name is the same as my forum username (Centipeed). There are two - I'm the one with the unicorn avatar.
I own the first STALKER, but not CoP. I would like the latter and it's cheaper to just buy the package than it individually; but will steam let me even buy the package if I already own STALKER?
Will they be individual things in my checkout; so could I buy the package and gift STALKER and keep CoP for myself?
EDIT: The article about extra copies in the KB isn't very clear and certainly doesn't seem too up to date.
Maybe I'll just try it and if not oh well I still got CoP for $10.
EDIT EDIT: Nope, checkout is telling me I will NOT get an extra copy of STALKER. Hrm. Maybe I'll just wait. I know CoP will go to a $5 sale eventually someday and I've got more games than I can possibly play right now anyway.
You can't. It gives you a big fat warning when you're at the end of the checkout process that you already own one of the games in the package and you will not get an extra code to gift.
I guess the list in the KB article is up to date. Rereading it I noticed it mentioned Darkstalkers and whatnot.
I bought the pack yesterday, and no, you won't be able to gift the extra copy of SoC, I also wanted to wait for a sale on CoP (Probably Christmas Sale?) But then again, as someone said earlier on the thread, this is the lowest price CoP has been on sale.
Stalker is on sale, finally! I've been waiting for a while for this. All the stories I've heard on the idol thumbs podcast about this game got me interested.
So if I got Metro 2033 during the summer sale, and CoP now, which one makes more sense to play first? I know they're not actually related, but does one feel "newer" than the other?

Well I'm going to say play Metro 2033 first because you can't play CoP now. Literally, they didn't order more keys for the sale I guess.
Of the last 5 PC games I've purchased, DRM issues have kept me from playing them for 3 of them. No wonder so many PC player pirate, this is ridiculous.

So it wasn't like the previous games where no-key meant just no MP?
When I got STALKER in that first $5 sale they ran out of keys fast, and all that meant is that you couldn't connect to multiplayer, but singleplayer was ok.
Uh oh. I hopped on the Call of Pripyat sale and am getting a "failed to contact key server" message. You'd think they would have ordered more keys right before a sale, what a screwup.
I think that was a general Steam hiccup - I got the same when I tried to look up my RE5 key.

Metro 2033 doesn't have to deal with rendering as many wide-open spaces, and with all the settings dialled up is probably one of the prettiest PC games you can own right now. Playstyle is comparable to Call of Duty - tight, linear, highly scripted. CoP is a completely different experience, and will probably take longer to get into but may yield longer-term rewards. I'd go with Metro first, switching to CoP if you feel like a pace change.

Damn 10 cents could have bought me a half a stick of gum.
Funny thing, when I tried to use that coupon for one of them, it didn't take any money off, but actually added an extra 10 cents for tax

I made a game, it has penguins in it. It's pay what you like on Gumroad.
Currently Ebaying Nothing at all but I might do in the future.

Can I activate this on Steam, or can I only add a shortcut like with other games?

I'm curious how AC2 ran on PC. I enjoyed the 360 version, but got rather annoyed by all the screen tearing.
I'm hoping Steam does a similar $1 sale and half-joke that it was a "mix-up".

I don't see anything overly surprising in it.

If I didn't subscribe to Zune Pass I'd use Winamp over Foobar.
