Sleep Apnea: Adjusting to the CPAP Machine
TIFunkaliciousKicking back inNebraskaRegistered Userregular
I've been pretty recently diagnosed with pretty severe complex sleep apnea. My problem is that I haven't achieved even one full night's rest with the CPAP machine provided to me. It isn't that I wake up in the middle of the night, but I wake up the next morning with the mask removed. Apparently I am taking painstaking steps to remove the damn thing in my sleep for no damn reason.
Has anyone else with apnea gone through the same phase? Can I take steps to help with this situation? It's gotten bad. I tried taping the mask down to my face and kept waking up in the middle of the night really stressed out. Every night I spend sleeping is such a bad experience that I've been staying up nights because I hate it so much.
My dad just recently got one and was having trouble with it for the first week (he's only had it about 2 weeks now.) He's always been conscious and aware of when and why he took off his mask though (he had a cold, for instance, and it made the pressure unbareable.)
Did you go to a sleep clinic and have them watch you sleep with it on? I can't imagine this isn't the kind of thing they'd catch in the sleep trial. Give them a call and ask what they recommend.
Call the sleep clinic and see about desensitization. There should be a program offered by a local hospital that will help you become desensitized to it.

'Fuck yeah, me too. What little kid ever pretended to be part of the lynch-mob?'
