I think One Piece is in there somewhere. But yeah, that's about it. The merger allowed them to have Activision-style exploitables between Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Pac-Man re-releases.
They then fucked most of those franchises into the ground.

Well...as a fighting game fan. I will say SC4 did good(sold around 2 million total) and Tekken still has a pretty strong arcade presence though I'm not sure how much it made on home consoles.
And I can't even say those have been exploited since it's been two-three years between releases.
That's the point. Pac-Man is a near constant re-release. They put it on everything because they don't have anything else. Tekken and SC are the only marketable, non-Bandai products they have. And they can't survive on those alone.
My eyes hurt after thirty seconds of that. I especially like how it's so classy as to rely on the "oh look, this stuff is totally IN YOUR FACE BECAUSE THREEE DEEEEE" tricks.

Namco is definitely getting a down grade. They always teetered on the edge of being a major developer and publisher, and back during the PSX days they may have been.
Now, though, middle of the line. Outside of Soul Caliber and Tekken, they have nothing that sells amazingly well.
I could never figure out why Namco just didn't make Master of Teras Kasi 2. When you're plopping Star Wars characters into Soul Calibur, why not just go all the way in and make a decent SW fighting game? Hell, I used to own Masters of Teras Kasi and managed to squeeze enjoyment out of it despite the fact that it was a crap fighter.

You just answered your own question. That game's nearly as hated as Star Wars Galaxies.

And the Star Wars characters are not owned by Namco. I mean, that's a 'no duh!' statement, but they can't just do whatever they want with them. Every new SC game will have people demanding that 'perfect' edition to the stable. How many times will Kratos or Dante's name come up?
If LucasArts want's to make a shitty fighting game, they don't need Namco's help to do it.
Social-media focused smartphone meets its end just two months after US launch; European launched scrapped
Just weeks after it made its debut in North America, Microsoft has announced that it has pulled the plug on its social-media orientated Kin mobile handset, meaning the European launch planned for later this year will not now happen.
All staff previously assigned to Kin development will not be shifted onto Windows Phone 7 duties, according to CNET.
“We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship Kin in Europe this fall as planned,” a statement confirmed.
“Additionally, we are integrating our Kin team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from Kin into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the US to sell current Kin phones.”
As a result, question marks now hang over the proposed software updates scheduled for the platform this summer. Handsets can now be grabbed for as little as half price from US carrier Verizon. Total sales of the handsets are though to number “significantly below” 10,000.
Big European question marks also hang over Microsoft’s MP3 device Zune, which continues to struggle to find traction in the US market.
Nice revenue numbers. Isnt it the case that their operating loss for the quarter was -$172 million?
Microsoft Corp. today announced record fourth-quarter revenue of $16.04 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, a 22% increase from the same period of the prior year. Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $5.93 billion, $4.52 billion and $0.51 per share, which represented increases of 49%, 48% and 50%, respectively, when compared with the prior year period.
- Microsoft shipped 1.5 million Xbox 360 consoles during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010, compared with 1.2 million Xbox 360 consoles during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2009.
- EDD operating loss ($172 M) increased primarily reflecting increased operating expenses, offset in part by increased revenue. Cost of revenue increased $251 million or 38% primarily from charges resulting from the discontinuation of the KIN phone and increased royalty costs resulting from increased Xbox LIVE digital marketplace third-party content sales. Sales and marketing expenses increased $73 million or 29% primarily due to increased Xbox 360 platform marketing activities. Research and development expenses increased $48 million or 10%, primarily reflecting increased third-party development and programming costs and increased headcount-related expenses.
I wonder if the Kinect launch will depress actual profits in the third quarter.

Kinect is pretty expensive. The cost for both the R&D for the camera and the development of the launch software should be largely absorbed by previous quarters by now. Q3 will be good for them on the back of Reach regardless. Kinect doesnt launch until Q4. So if the question is how much will last minute pre-launch Kinect related expenses affect their Q3 results - I guess it comes down to ordering/manufacturing the physical camera hardware.
That money stays tied up until launch. How much of a dent depends on how many they plan to have made before launch.
Have any of those tech or analyst sites come up with guestimates on how much the innards of Kinect actually cost?

Wait, I think Kinect is launching in Q2 on MS financial calendar.
Microsoft's fiscal year starts in July,so
Q1 =( July-September)
Q2=(October- December)
Q3=(January-March)
Q4=(April-June)
PlayStation®3 Worldwide Hardware Unit Sales (Unit: million)
Sony's (and Nintendo) fiscal year starts in April,so
Seems like leaving EA for Activision is the real frying pan to fire scenario, with regards to being "treated like shit." or whatev.
The grass is always greener on the other side.
Who cares? It's GRASS.
Aphorisms suck anyway. Whatever his reasons, going to Activision seemed like a step up. Or at least a step out. The business is too small to avoid this kind of thing forever.

See if you do the math the Wii clearly cost more than my Mazda that has a TV and a Xbox360 in the trunk.
But then you also need to factor in the cost ofthe electricity it will take to power the remote!
These charts are stupid.
Sometimes I Stream Games: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/italax-plays-video-games
And we've all read that article about how Nintendo hates the planet.
Look at you, Wii owners. Why do you throw your money away on luxuriously expensive and Earth destroying Nintendo hardware?
And? I never said they were good at it.
And I can't even say those have been exploited since it's been two-three years between releases.
No idea about Pac-Man though...

Sony?
Probably, if it was Microsoft they'd be talking about how the Zune is making them mad bank.
Second, I guess Infinium Labs.

Kinect tech has been in the works for a long time, so any R&D costs are likely to be low to begin with.

So, why'd he get fired?
and he works for Activision now?

Yeah. You created a game that didn't set the world on fire sales wise. What do you fucking expect?
Yeah, that guy only created a game, it's EA who's whoring it out into a super-franchise.
And now he's working on a CoD game?
... really? You think this is a good time for you to be throwing stones?
