"EA let me create an original game but were mean to me! They suck, so I'mma go work on the 8th sequel to a line of games for a publisher that withheld employee paychecks until they completed their sequels sequel! Fuck yeah!"
Better refill your Zombrex prescription: Capcom is letting Dead Rising 2: Case Zero out of quarantine and into Xbox Live Arcade on August 31 -- the original release date of the full Dead Rising 2 game (that's now dated for September 28). Capcom has also released a new trailer for Dead Rising 2, which you'll find after the break.
Case Zero, a standalone experience, serves as a prologue to Dead Rising 2. Chuck Greene fights to escape the town of Still Creek and obtain the Zombrex he needs to keep his daughter Katey from coming down with a case of finding human flesh yummy.
The prologue won't take a bite out of your budget: Capcom is pricing the XBLA-exclusive Case Zero at 400 Microsoft Points ($5).
Did you guys link to that Namco article where they were pinning their hopes and dreams on Enslaved becoming GTA4 like in sales?
I mean, Enslaved looks okay and all, but Namco is dreaming. Or crazy. One of the two.
Yeah it was brought up a while ago. There's a far bigger chance of it sinking Namco than saving it.
Namco have no-one to blame but themselves. Their management have really run the entire company into the ground with idiotic decisions galore and the whoring out of what few franchises they have.
I keep forgetting Dead Rising 2's on the way. Which is strange, as I'm fairly certain the original was my most-played 360 game.
We haven't really gotten much info.
I find it interesting that so far they've really only demoed small aspects of the game, like the weapon customization. It's almost as if the actual single player isn't any good, which'd make sense considering how piss poor Capcom's other western developed games have been (outside of Bionic Commando Rearmed).

Uh, what? They've shown plenty of the game. It looks like it plays exactly like Dead Rising 1. Other than spoiling locations, psychopaths and weapons, what more are you looking for exactly?

Fair enough, but I really doubt it's going to be any better than DR1.

Well there comes the issue. If it looks like DR1 and it looks like it plays DR1, what is it bringing new to the table apart from a few silly weapons?
Thats why it needs a real preview and not 10 minute videos of people playing co-op in the same casino area.

I want to hear more active zombies at any time, better plot, better characters, more to do.

Are people really calling for better AI in a zombie game?
The zombies are there to impede my progress; a half-alive wall that I have to cut through using chainsaws, umbrellas and even marbles
The zombies in DR1 were absolutely fine
Yeah if all those thousands of zombies were clever and trying to outsmart / flank you etc. shit would have been impossible. Also probably not fun. Leave that stuff to L4D. Dead Rising is about a big fleshy wall you can throw frisbees at, bowl over and skate through.
I keep forgetting Dead Rising 2's on the way. Which is strange, as I'm fairly certain the original was my most-played 360 game.
I never played it. I need to get around to that (and Dead Space) one of these days.
Dead Space is pretty great man.
Dead Rising is good, but for some weird reason I had more fun with the demo. Get the demo then buy the XBLA version for 400msbucks and wait for DR2. If they are any good, anyway.

My copy of Dead Space is completely glitched out, with no response from EA! Other then that, great game.
That's the way they were designed, and that's the way they work in both games. Neither one would work well in the other game.
With the time constraints, psychopaths, and open worldness of Dead Rising, it wouldn't have become my favorite XBox game ever if they were actively hunting me. I NEEDED to be able to just kind of hop up on something or find a corner of a store to check my watch, map out my route, heal my survivors, ect... And every now and then a zombie would shamble in and I'd have to deal with it. Dead Rising zombies shouldn't ever be actively pursuing you. And that's not "wrong", thats a design choice.
Left 4 Dead can't have it's zombies just stand around or else it would be a very boring game, because your only objective is to get to the end. That's it. So they need to actively pursue you or else the whole thing wouldn't work.
Dead Rising's zombie AI is absolutely perfect for what it needs to be. And plus, those raincoat guys and the spawning convicts would chase the hell out of you, and they're by far the biggest complaint everyone has about the game. Now imagine all the zombies chasing you like that. That's not fun.

If he got annoyed because EA didn't reward him enough for Dead Space then ooooohweee is he in for a surprise after his Activision game comes out.
Like someone said already, the grass is always greener. This could be comical in a way. Or, it would be if it weren't for the whole thing of him not getting paid what will be owed. I'm sure the first time around Activision will pay him fairly, if only to avoid this scenario.
You know, I'm convinced you could make a game called "Dragon Quest: Stare at the wall" wherein one simply stares at a wall in the game, and it would sell thousands and thousands of copies in Japan...

So Linux PS3 fans really didn't have anything else better to do... turns out there were seven class action lawsuits brought against Sony for removing the OS.
A California judge has merged this into one big lawsuit, which should start rolling in September.
Microsoft could sell as many as three million Xbox Kinect units in the run up to the 2010 holidays, according to a market watcher.
"We believe that Kinect units are already in production and should be available in adequate quantities for the November launch. We continue to expect that roughly three million units of Kinect will be sold worldwide in 4Q," wrote Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian, in a research note to clients this week.
If Sebastian's estimate is correct, that would put Kinect, a hands-free motion control system that lets Xbox 360 players physically interact with on-screen games, on par with the iPad as one of the tech market's hottest selling new hardware platforms. Apple has sold 3.27 million iPads since introducing the tablet-style PC on April 3rd, the company said Tuesday.
DQ9 is so much fun. It's exactly the kind of RPG experience I wish I could have on consoles, but apparently that's not happening this gen.
So... it's not just DQ8 but on the DS?
I mean, I was interested when they showed the vids with completely redesigned gameplay. I stopped caring when they dropped that and went back to traditional DQ gameplay.
Activision Blizzard Inc. hasn't disclosed development costs for its "Starcraft II" videogame. A July 16 Technology article about the "Starcraft" sequel incorrectly said the company spent more than $100 million to develop the game; that figure referred to its "World of Warcraft" game.

Off the top of my head there's no clip board, no multi tasking, and it's difficult to integrate social networking apps. Two problems for the nerds and one for the every man.

When I say hunting I mean 'moving' at all in your general direction when you're stood right next to them.
That's a valid complaint. I don't remember there being an issue like that in DR, but yeah, zombies should react to sound and movement and gather in packs, try to beat down the door to the last place they saw you, etc.

In DR1 it wasn't too bad but numbers were limited. It harks back to the DR discussion we were having about released trailers because the videos Ive seen so far have shown fairly disinterested zombies, even if stood very close to them, so much so the players are able to relatively stand still and just fuck about putting barrels and things on an individual zombie without threat.

It's still the tried-and-true turn-based DQ you know and love/hate, but outside of battles the game structure is pretty different. It's very dungeon crawl-y; you create all party members from scratch, hundreds of pieces of individual gear (all viewable on character) and a huge portion of the game/postgame content hinges on randomly generated dungeons with loot and pretty challenging bosses. It's also got a pretty complex job system that lets you switch at will and carry over skills/passive abilities between jobs, and there's an alchemy system that relies on items dropped by enemies and picked up from spawn points across the map. And there's local multiplayer, which lets you hop into another player's world, Fable II-style, but no online play.

True, this isn't the cell phone thread so I won't go completely into it, but I was slightly disappointed with the lack of integration of certain social apps and copy/paste. Then again, how many iPhones did Apple sell before they really had any apps or copy/paste? I think if they can nail down Exchange/Office they will put pressure on Blackberry devices for the work place, and possibly offer a more "business-oriented" phone for use rather than the recent uptake in iPhones for businesses. And if they can get some app support quickly and get out whatever they need to patch to integrate Twitter (which I think was the biggest missing point in social apps?) and put in some form of copy/paste, they will be able to hit more mainstream. Personally, all you have to say is Zune Pass streaming and I'm nearly sold.. I love my Zune and to have the ability to stream almost anything off the marketplace through my phone? So awesome.
To make this more on-topic, the XBox live integration didn't get great remarks in the last review I saw, but I'm sure they're scrambling to finish it up and get some games finalized for it, so it will be interesting if they really market that well if 360 owners will choose WP7 just to increase their gamerscore with phone games too. Finally get something like was mentioned in 2006:
