The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I recently bought the new Assemble the Doomsday Machine Archenemy deck in order to fufill a life long dream of having a nice artifact deck. Never could assemble the cards with what I call a sensible magic card strategy (lay down 20-30 $ from time to time). If anyone misses the Wow TCG raid decks and still wants to play magic I'd suggest trying out the Archenemy decks, they seem to be pretty well made so far and with names like Assemble the Doomsday Machine, Unleash the Zombie horde you know it just puts a smile on your face.
I must say that I think it's pretty good for a basic deck straight out of the box. It's not so hot without the scheme cards of the Archenemy deck powering it up but I'm retooling it. Added some more sphinxes to the mix and planning to buy a few more Mirrodin boosters just to get some more interesting artifacts. The new Artifact Constructer card seems pimp. 1/1 Tap Add +1/+1 counter to all artifact creatures is pimp. It might even make the March of the Machines card that was included in the deck worthwhile.

Anyone else tried out playing Archenemy so far?
Check out the Planechase decks, too. I think they're actually stronger than the Archenemy ones. (Of course, none of them are Standard legal, if that matters to you.)
Just won a playset of those new shiny mana chickens, mostly because I've always wanted a shiny set that wasn't hundreds of dollars and terrible looking.

Overrun effects are always first pickable bombs. They break parity in board stalls and make blocking impossible for the opponent.
This one is even easier to splash than Overrun, but requiring a decent creature on the board for it to actually get online can be difficult

Also Elixer of Immortality is amazing in an instant heavy deck or against a mill deck
Actually it's just an amazing card period (5 life for 3 mana AND it goes straight back into your library along with whatever else is in your graveyard? So good)
I gave all my cards to some friends who started playing again. I knew I wouldn't be seeing them for about 8 months. I'm kind of glad I won't be seeing them for about 8 months.

I mean you don't get the life gain but you do get to put all of the burns you've played back into your deck
I've only been able to play it a couple of times. Tried playing one archenemy deck vs two of the other archenemy decks (minus their schemes, of course). All 3 times, the archenemy smoked the other two decks without much resistance.
Only brief anecdotal evidence, but I'd say that 3 on 1 to 4 on 1 are probably what a group should aim for, unless at least one of the decks was tuned to almost unfair levels of shenanigans to shut the archenemy down.
Went 2-2 in the m11 pre-release, found out there were 3 more fucking rounds to go (I'm used to another organizer that runs 4 round flights) and dropped, as I had a friend to meet for dinner and movies.
Super late edit: got lucky with my pulls though. Foil Ajani, Garruk, Time Reversal, Obstinate Baloth, Overwhelming Stampede, Steel Overseer, and something else I forget at the moment. Yeah, I was lucky as shit, and obviously played Green/White with a splash of red for Fireball. Unfortunately even with a hell of a card selection, I got screwed a couple of times on drawing garbage and having to mulligan heavily or just getting outraced. I made mistakes, sure, but none I'd consider game ending.
Oh, and planechase is fun as hell. I have a full set of the 44 or whatever planes that are out to date, and my group plays with the whole pile as one shared deck. No tuning, tweaking, whatever, just plowing through it game after game.

Sideboard
4 Plumet
3 Autumn's Veil
2 Warpriest of Thune
2 Leyline of Sanctity
2 Kor Firewalker
2 Journey to Nowhere
I already know two cards you are going to recommend and I am vetoing them right now: Path to Exile and Noble Hierarch. I am vetoing these because I don't want to invest in $15 and $5 cards that will no longer be $15 and $5 cards in 3 months.
Why are you playing Akoum refuge (The Black/Red dual)?
Should that be Greypelt Refuge (The Green/White)?
I'd suggest upping your Vengevine and Fauna Shaman count. Also find room for Elvish visionary.
Overrun/Monument decks are about putting as many bodies on the table as quickly as possible and then just annihilating them with a monument/overrun.
Which makes Sun Titan/Primeval Titan kind of not very effective.

Yes I meant Greypelt, whoooops
I like the Primeval Titan because it thins your deck of lands so all you're drawing into is creatures and spells
Sun Titan combos amazing with Monument:
Sac a nest invader to monument, attack with sun titan, get nest invader back and another eldrazi spawn
I would up my vengevine count if I could. I only have one though, and I only one available to borrow. Same for Fauna Shaman, I'm going to have to trade for or buy them and I am fucking broke right now.
Some Visionaries would be great though. Or maybe Gurruks Packleaders? Then swap out the 4 Nest Invaders for Garruks Companions?
If you run Packleaders you're going to need to drop your Titans.
Your curve becomes far too high if you're running Titan/Packleaders/Monuments/Overrun at the top of your curve.
Also, Fauna shaman is just bogging your deck down. You're not really going to be doing retardedly broken things with it so why not cut it for something more efficient/threatening?

S'how I would look at monogreen overrun right now.
Actually, I'd rather have Wolfbriar elemental over Vengevine...
Haha you actually just made something very similar to my current decklist, except mine doesn't have bops, it has Elvish Archdruids instead. Also has Kozilek Predators
Also 3 main deck Wolfbriars, and one Master of the Wild Hunt
My friends convinced me to get back into magic last week after many years of not playing. I've spent entirely too much money in the past 2 weeks because of it and I hate them.
On the plus side I got all kinds of awesomeness in my booster box!
I decided not to get a booster box because I already have a good bunch of the core planeswalkers and dual lands, so all I would really be looking to open was mythics. Played in three pre-release tournies, though, and did awful in all of them. Gonna go to the release draft tonight.

Probably going to trade my Primeval Titan to my friend for his Vengevine, because Vengevine is a better fit for my Green deck than Primeval is
Also, Rise of the Eldrazi is ruled by G/B/x and we don't really know what M11 is ruled by.
UW skies is always a good strategy for core sets, but green got a LOT of good fatties at common this set so I think G/x (for removal) will be a really good draft choice. Yavimaya Wurm all up ins.

it's totally different man
buying em now because they're cheap is not the same as drawing one after playing this horrible money sink for close to 20 years

But now I need 100 sleeves because a bunch of the cards I'm playing with are heavily played
...Anyone in LA play?

Supposedly the LA scene for magic isn't as competitive as the Central Coast. This is probably because all the nerds get jobs in the Silicon Valley
What I'm saying is come up here and play magic with me, it's only like an 8 hour drive!
It's disgustingly hilarious, and appropriately evil.
WotC will donate up to $22,000 to Childs Play depending on how many people attend the release events this weekend

No way man I want to play with the lesser folk. Not in the mood to get stomped by decks on turn 2.
You come here.
Well to be fair my deck doesn't stomp until like turn 3
Had the most awesome idea for a deck earlier
Super excited for it, like this is actually going to be really fucking good

Waah waah waah you got ripped
My local stores sell boosters for $90-$100 and you get the foil bird
Not that I have $90-$100 to spend on a box right now
Hopefully I do well at the release tomorrow and win some packs
On the plus side I got all kinds of awesomeness in my booster box!
that's a shitty lgs
i'm also kind of forgetful about what the formats are
but looking at cards makes me want to tap stuff again
draft draft draft
Depends...do you want to go play in events at the store, or just play around the table with some buddies?
i'm more of an events in store kind of guy, even though i have some friends that are still into it i think
but yeah pip i'll just go for some drafts now that i think about it
off to articles to find what is good to draft nowadays!
Rise of Eldrazzi or M11 doesn't matter
BW rules both limited formats
also splashing green
Heck splashing any of the other colors is good, black and red net you removal and/or direct damage
Green gets you big stompys, specifically in ROE Aura Gnarlids with it's M11 not as good counterpart Sacred Wolf
*UW.
Also, Rise of the Eldrazi is ruled by G/B/x and we don't really know what M11 is ruled by.
