I can't find the official Nintendo GBA battery packs anywhere. The only place I ever saw them was www.upstategames.com and they are long gone (squatter has the URL now).
Description: They were a little smaller than the size of two AA batteries glued together. The diagonal contacts in a GBA allow them to slide in and make contact with tension instead of getting caught on springs.
I'd like to buy a ton because these same contacts exist in the Wavebird and the Wii Remote. I'm not positive about universal compatability, but I can think of no other reason why they'd be like that.
IIRC, the charger and the packs were sold seperately and the charger had room for two at a time. The charger may have included one pack.
I'm sure there's an "AGB-XXX" model number but Google can't turn up anything... Not even glimpse on Google Image Search either.
I'm looking for someone in Japan to identify/confirm this and give me any information I can get regarding acquiring them.
The retailer is apparently a pretty major Korean-community electronics retailer in New York with a US toll-free telephone number, US prices and a thorough online presence. Still $37 is kinda steep.
I came at it from this angle: Being an official Nintendo product, it must have an "AGB-XXX" designation so I slapped "AGB-001 AGB-002 AGB-003 ..." into Google. Sure enough, the only complete lists were Japanese. Once I confirmed that AGB-003 was the Charger/Battery set and AGB-004 was the battery, I search Google Image Search for AGB-003. Only ONE AGB-003 image in the results was it and it was a US retailer.
So, after I find me a Korean pal I now I need to find some way to stock-up on AGB-004.
Let's see... there's the novelty factor (Nintedo of America's GBA manuals say not to use ANY rechargeable batteries). There's the rarity factor (even information is almost non-existant). There's the need to confirm that it fits the Wii controller. OH! And I have had an imported Japanese Arctic GBA since before the US launch.
Basically, I believe that it works as an official battery pack for Wii controllers just like it was updated to officially upport the Wavebird (or so it seems) and I'd like to confirm it. I'd also like to see if they can be modified to charge inside the controller with a modified battery cap.
I have one of those (Japanese, too), but I bought it used and the power runs out very quickly on the GBA I've been looking to buy another one for a while without luck.
I haven't tested it on the Wii's controller because It'd be a waste of time to do it since they run out so quickly. Maybe I'll do it later.

Don't buy the battery pack, I just tried doing it and it doesn't even fit in the Wii remote's battery slot. It's GBA-only.

Why... do you need this? You can just use regular rechargeables, can't you?
Because his needs are ridiculous

Ah. I saw that it kept defaulting me to the "/ko/" part of the site and the characters looked extra-blocky (how I usually identify Korean).

AGB-003 and AGB-004
Not sure where you'd buy them
$37.99 is kinda expensive, but I want to confirm "Wii support" and I'll be the guinea pig.

After that, it's very straightforward.
Thanks. I hope I can make out the "Street, City, State, Zip, etc" parts.
