Yeah... I doubled checked tfwiki to make sure the names I really wanted weren't taken (Triage and Blink in case you're wondering).
Hell, I even named one of my destroyers Rigg in honor of Kup.
Holy shit, I named my Infiltrator Blink, were we Blinking together the other night ?!
but yeah right now:
Infiltrator - Blink, Longshot
Destroyer - Bastion
Titan - Siege
Scientist - Swift
original names don't steal!!

Well, Blink is my close-range cloaker, Deadeye's the sniper, Scramble is EMPs, Road Knight is barrier, Rigg is barrier+remote det cannon, Hardrun is hover, WarBltiz is tech volt+whirlwind, Sapper is harvester+slime+shield, Cannoner is havester+shield, Triage is healing+gear, Aeroshot is sentry+BR+marker, Quik Fix is healing and both rifles.
So I guess Cannoner and Blink need new names.
Heh, I had a Leader Class named Siege last game.
Edit: Scratch that, already had Cannoner renamed to Bladejäger (character from my Seibertron.com days).
My scientist is Dogfight. I figure it isn't name stealing if it comes from a Triggerbot.
My infiltrator is Apex. Haven't checked to see if it exists in canon yet.
Haven't named the other two yet.

I am still working on unlocking all the parts I want in order to create Blowback, who I guess will have to be an infiltrator since he's a car.

What, Ironhide/Ratchet's body don't work for you? What about Zeta Prime? I'd say those 3 fall pretty close to "large car" territory, what with being more rounded then boxy.
Though I can understand of you dont like that way the chest looks or the way the pieces fit.

So they got rid of pretty much all the interesting color schemes, but have reversed versions of the standard colors they had originally

So how long is the single player? Worth it for that alone, or should I wait until it's on sale?
Took me about 6-7 hours. As a TF nerd, I loved seeing all the characters and little things scattered here and there, but honestly I preferred War. All things considered I'm really fucking disappointed in this one, but that may be because I'm not a multiplayer guy and bought it strictly for SP.

It honestly feels to me like they started rushing things a little later on.
The early chapters feel INCREDIBLE. Absolutely staggering, well crafted and roughly as long as War's chapters were. But around the time you take control of the Decepticons, chapters start getting shorter and shorter. When the chapter with Swindle was finished, I was honestly surprised because it felt like I had only been playing as him for a few minutes. Hell, Megatron Returns is literally a single room.
Chapters 2-5 also make incredibly good use of the mechanics you're given. While after that it feels a little less directed.
It was still a great campaign, but I can definitely see any complaints that might pop up about the length of the campaign, especially with the contrast between how well the Autobot and Decepticon chapters are crafted.
EDIT: Oh, but the music playing over the credits made it all worth while.
So on Live there are like 100 different 80moonbuck parts you can buy. WTF? Are those just things you unlock via normal MP play, that you can buy or something?
My scientist is Dogfight. I figure it isn't name stealing if it comes from a Triggerbot.
My infiltrator is Apex. Haven't checked to see if it exists in canon yet.

Well there's the Apex Armor, which is definitely not stealing because a) not a character b) it's definitely not for infiltration.

Theyre all part of the Havoc pack (Magnus, Zeta, et all). Good thing is that you're not double taxed; buy them and they're yours without having to spend ingame money.
Also, while some of my colors are gone (yellow/dark grey), the new selections are a VAST improvement over the old selection. You've got 18 solid colors (6 shades with 3 hues each) then the rest are swatches of two markedly different colors.
Autobots get a lot of color/white and white/color while Decepticons get a lot of color/black and black/color.
Soooooo much better.
Edit: Finally found a system that works well for me color-wise. Pick a color with white/black as one of the choices, say... Green/White, then flip it for your alt-faction, in this case Black/Green. I really like how this turns out for all 12 of my characters.

I'm just glad there's finally some damn contrast between primary and secondary colors now.
Though a lot of the Con colors are from the Seacons... (purple/turquoise).
Also saw my first Prime today.
And just need to actually dominate in TDM a few times and all my general challenges will be done.
Does it seem like the subsonic repeater (inflitrator smg) is a little OPed to anyone else? I managed to get a 10-kill streak with it (+rapid reload and shotgun+RoF increase) including facing down a pair of Titans while solo.

Forever Zefirocloaked in the midnight glory of an event horizonRegistered Userregular
I just think all the color choices they left are so garish, they scream at my eyes
I don't think the Repeater is OP, it's a solid gun at mid range, but as an Infil you are going to have to be juking to survive the other classes mid range
I'm surprised you didn't get blasted by their Energon Harvesters, sounds like you just outplayed some bads
I almost always prefer the pistol, even in a closer range, I only switch to the SMG if I'm in the middle of a shootout and it's quicker than reloading
XBL - Foreverender | 3DS FC - 1418 6696 1012 | Steam ID | LoL
Using a controller for campaign has proven to make the game much easier for me to play and actually progress, but I'm curious: how outmatched am I going to be if I don't use KBaM for MP? Non-editable keybindings and poor vehicle control with a mouse (probably my fault) just make the controller preferable to playing Twister with my left hand.
NocrenLt Futz, Back in ActionNorth CarolinaRegistered Userregular
To be fair they were using scrapmakers, and yeah, I was doing a lot of side dashing.
Maybe it's the fact my target is usually dead before I reload while if I'm using the shotgun I'm the one that dead during a reload.
Spider, given that this is a console centric game you're probably at a disadvantage if you don't play with a controller. Whatever advantage a mouse's fine aiming is going to give you is negated by the fact that others can just dance around you.
Nocren: That's what I figured just from how much better the game plays with its intended controller. Plus, any excuse to use the badass Batman controller is good enough for me. I think I just finished a video that was tying up a 100 GB .avi so I should have enough free HDD space to record again which means I get to finish campaign! Hooray!
NocrenLt Futz, Back in ActionNorth CarolinaRegistered Userregular
Unmappable controls probable don't help there. I'm sure if you could configure the controls to your liking on PC, you could dance around easily.
Mind giving a rundown of the keys for me?
0
MaddocI'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother?Registered Userregular
WASD to move around, F to transform, Q to use your ability, space to jump, shift to dash.
Unless you use some seriously arcane keybindings, I'm not sure what is even objectionable about the default bindings.
I mean, it's a fairly standard FPS/TPS, transforming mechanics aside. Precision trumps all else, especially when you factor in headshots. And since there's no analog movement or anything to be gained from using control pads for movement, literally the only thing you gain from using a control pad on the PC version is turning slower.
Saying you can "dance around" more easily by using a control pad just because the lead platform is consoles is a patently absurd statement.
Forever Zefirocloaked in the midnight glory of an event horizonRegistered Userregular
Keyboards suck for movement in my experience, you're using 3 fingers just to move
Now if you had a thumbstick in the middle of your keyboard, or the left half of a controller and a mouse, then that would be great

Yeah. Would love a controller like that.
So, what happens in Prime mode this time now that there are purchasable unlocks and in game money? I'm 25 levels away (20 in each class, except Titan which is 15).
Also, who's the Warlord head for the Titan class? Each class gets a special character head that I regonize (Destroyers = Bruticus, Scientists = Metroplex, Inflitrators = Trypticon) except that one.
And wow, they really reached back for Quake. He was a Decepticon dual target master (had two guns).
NocrenLt Futz, Back in ActionNorth CarolinaRegistered Userregular
Couple of tidbits...
Titans can reload their current weapon while their Flak Shield is out.
You can reload while dashing without breaking stride.
Transforming automatically reloads current weapon.

Heal Beam with the Energon Recharge is goddamn incredible.
I feel like a fool for playing all those matches using the Turret.
I don't think I'll ever play Scientist without the Heal again. Being able to commit to a firefight, blow someones head off with the PBR, and then being able to heal myself without running off to find an energon cube is incredible.
Been playing Destroyer a bit in multiplayer. Having some good luck with it too. For myself anyway, my teams have been universally terrible, and at least one person quits in the first couple minutes.
Personally though I have been getting a ton of double kills or triple kills. I have also noticed a curious trend for other destroyers to toss up their barrier and wait for me to come to them. So I just blow their barrier up and then blow them up.
Wasn't aware you could blow up barriers? Well, mine is usually reinforced, so maybe that's why.
Destroyer is definitely the EZ mode class. He was my main, so I switched from him because was getting a glut of them + wanted to play guys I didn't have in War.
Helps a lot knowing he only has so many rockets and when he reloads, but damn is he like Quake 1 dude with rocket launcher versus everyone.

Yeah, right now I've got 1 with Rust turret and I play on having battle medic on another specifically for the challenges but bread/butter scientist is AR/BR + heal w/ self heal.
What attachments does everyone prefer for their weapons? Like is the PBR's health scanner worth it or should I go with something else? Should the SSR get more ammo, accuracy or reload faster?

For Scientist I run the PBR with the Rate of Fire Increase, and the Orbital Pistol with the double mark on hit.
I don't really feel the need for anything close range aside from the PBR, it's ridiculously accurate even with hipfire in close ranges and you can pepper their face with constant headshots.
How is the PBR with the rate of fire increase? I only just got to that level, but I havn't had a chance to really try it out in comparison to the increased clip size. Do you find you run out of ammo at bad moments or is the full auto enough to get the job done?

Only used it in single player, but it basically makes it near full auto when hip fired (constant 3-round bursts instead of a steady stream).
But I'm only 20, so I don't know what it's like in multi.

MaddocI'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother?Registered Userregular
It's basically the same in multi, and it really allows you to come out on top a fairly surprising amount of the time should you get stuck trading shots.
Just remember not to bother with fine aim at short and medium distances.
Gotcha. That may be a difficult habit to break, I have a tendency to fine aim when fighting at medium range. Sure it makes me a slow moving target, but I usually fly behind groups and land to ambush the straggler, so only the guy I'm fighting pays attention to me (pubbies are so blissfully unaware of what is going on right behind them). And whilst he's dancing and diving, he's having a hard time hitting me too, and I'm hitting him right in the dome.

I have to say I'm quite disappointed with what happened to Escalation. One of the appeals of that mode was picking from a relatively large list of beloved characters and forming your own team.
This game has the best end credits of any game ever made.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Was hoping to see more things like the first game's recreation of the season one opening and commercial bumpers, or the teaser for Trypicon vs Omega, or Bumblebee acting like a clown car.
Though Metroplex
playing with his mini-action figures
was awesome. Plus the first half with that remix of the Touch. I would love to get some pics of that without text for a desktop.
