Yeah I haven't really touched it yet, but just from a cursor inspection along with word of mouth, Escalation seems a lot worse in FoC.
Not only is it just four characters, but those characters just have the same four abilities shuffled seemingly randomly between them. Every map your characters get Flak, Heal, Ammo boost, Turret. So even the different characters are really now just skins.
Cliffjumper traded his cloak for a flak shield I guess.
Well, honestly, it's not like random bots were viable for Escalation in WFC anyway. There were certain abilities that were more or less required in order to make it very far. This is just cutting out the shit and making it so you've got those needed abilities from the get go.
Yeah, it does limit choices, but ideally it shoudl increase success.

Yeah, a scrapmaker with dropshot (no spin up time) is just ugly.
So I'm I'm the home stretch for all classes (5 or less levels to go till maxed). Still figuring out each weapon's best boost for me, and which loadouts to use.
Just started playing Titan, and it's almost disgusting how much of a one man army I feel like.
And it only got more pronounced once I got the Flak Shield.
Every time I end a close range firefight at full health because of the Energon Harvester I almost feel like I cheated.
I really need to tell someone about the most epic movement I've had in this game, and it was as a Titan.
I recently acquired the flak shield, so I've made a new bot for that load out and I've been having a lot of fun with it.
I was in this game on the Array map, where my team was suffering a fairly significant numbers disadvantage (which is becoming annoyingly common). So pretty much every time you got into a fight, you were instantly surrounded by cars, planes, and tanks, oh my. I had to retreat from one such situation, and ducked into the bottom area of that big HQ looking part. I went up to the first landing of the ramp to the second floor, switched to the energon harvester and awaited my fate.
Sure enough, swarming after a supposedly easy kill, a scientist and scout appeared from around the corner of the lower ramp, whilst a jet flew in from the archway at the top landing and transformed. They all opened fire. Luckily, I had my trusty flak shield and had it ready in time to stop their shots from ringing my bell. I started trading blows with them, the harvester keeping my hp topped, and I'd retreat behind my shield as soon as I was able to so I could reload. The enemy players, as they predictably do, started moving in close for maximum accuracy and also to try to take me out with melee hits. I chose my shots and planted my Titan boot in two of their faces when they got too close, and managed to snag the last one with a harvester shot to kill him and give me a very much needed health boost.
The brief fight was over. I surveyed the damage. Holy shit did I really just take out 3 guys who had me dead to rights? I know they were the squishy classes, but still, 3v1? I wish I filmed it, it was incredible.
And then I transformed into a tank and went off to pick another fight.
I love this game.

Not gonna lie, I pick chest/chassis sometimes based purely on the transformation.
Like, I love Ratchet's color scheme but prefer Iron Hide's "combat dive into truck mode" transformation. Same with Brawl. Not too keen on the overall design of the tank but love the "slam your arms into the ground and take care of business" transformation.
Overall though, def prefer the Autobot bodies over the Decepticons.

It's more of a visual hold-over from the films. Have the heroes look heroic and humanoid, have the villains with the sharp, pointy edges and spikes and actually look alien.
I actualy would like to use Soundwave's body, if they got rid of the shoulder cannon. Don't like Swindle's 8-wheeled hover mode or Onslaught's monster truck tires.

I agree. I don't really like the deception builds, especially for the infiltrators. The autobot infiltrators look robotic, sleek, and fast. The deception look like bulky alien robot hedgehogs, and why do they all have such tiny heads? They look ridiculous. I like dragstrips chest piece and vehicle mode though. But I had to use autobot parts for it, the rest just didn't look right.
I also don't really like soundwaves chest piece being an option. It is TOO distinctive, especially with that shoulder mountain cannon which has no actual use in the game. I wish they didn't give us exact replicas of certain transformers. It feels way too much like ripping off an already established transformers look.

Ok, here we go with the maps. Some strategies I use/have seen are mentioned, but mostly this is to talk about their visual look so you know which maps are which.
Array - this was the demo level. You should all know this.
Convoy - Takes place on top of the energon transport. Anyone except Titans (and Barrier Destroyers) can get on top of the arch above B and snipe, some easier than others. Infiltrators can get under the flaps and snipe from between them.
Tempest - A wasteland with lots of ruins/rocks strewn about along with a broken bridge in the center leading between the two CTF bases. A wrecked autobot/statue houses the B point while a cave area that runs along one side houses A and C. Lots of areas for Scientists to perch and snipe. I find this to be a good maps because of it's size (one of the larger ones) and the fact that every class here can be put to use. Scientists/Infiltrators can do hit and run tactics using the cover while Destroyers and Titans can create choke-points in several areas.
Launch - Launch testing facility with a rocket system suspended over B, surrounding it are 3 ion vents/jump pads to boost you up to the second floor. A ramp/path connects both bases to B as well as side bases with ammo/health. A test platform overlooks B with an ammo/health pickup, however it's isolated and easy to flank. Several buildings provide viewing platforms that can double as sniper nests.
Bowels - Large underground map with several passages in and out of areas. A and C are at the faction bases while B is on the opposite side of the map (centered in an arch structure and fairly open), across from an open central area. A and C are easily traversed to and from with both sides offering multiple avenues of attack (including a second story).
Spire - VERY Small map. Takes place in Shockwave's tower (Insecticon holding tanks can be seen in the Decepticon base). Central room/B contains a holographic image of Earth (Roughly Pangian Earth, remember, he observed Dinosaurs). Both bases contain passages that directly channel into B room. There is no path between the two bases that doesn't exit there, so expect lots of fighting. Roughly symetrical, each base has 3 exits; the direct path, one that exits to a lower ramp near the other side's main entrance, and the upper area (roughly 90 degrees from the main entrance).
Abandoned - Remake of a WfC level. 5 bridges connect the two bases with the B point on the lowest, center bridge. Gone is the pristine blue of pure energon and now it's a sickly green of processed waste. Everything here shows it's age from the last game. The water level is higher and you can no longer fly below B and loop under it, though if you're lucky with some jumping and boosting, you can fall off one of the side bridges and make it to B alive.
Desolation - VERY large map, probably the largest. that takes place on the banks of a waste reservoir (near a green lake). One side starts low, near the bank next to some ruins while the other side starts high. B point is in the center and can be accessed via several ramps or ion vents. This map was designed with vehicles in mind. Probably another of my favorites. There are several criss-crossing tunnels under the center wall that divides the two areas as well as ion vents that take you to upper platform/B point. There are also an ion network of sorts that will take you from the spawn location/base to the side's control point, then to the wall, where it's a short drive to the next capture point.
Corrosion - A large underground map that's very dirty/rusty. Both bases are open aired where a scientist can rain down by siting in the rafters above points A & C. Point B is located on the lower level next to a large tunnel/ramp. Notable for having a lot of heads stacked in the Autobot base. Speaking of, there's a lot of areas and ramps in the back of both bases that makes it useful in TDM/ HH.
Sewers - Another VERY small map (points A & C are easily within walking distance). A small tunnel/walkway connects A and C, with a doorway that opens to a slightly more open area that contains point B. Lots of flowing waste in the center area. Autobot base has a theme similar to the ruins in Cliffjumper's chapter, while the Decepticon base is more like an Incesticon hive.
This game online is fucking ridiculous. New players really are utterly screwed.

Well, this is one-player per system unfortunately. What I mean by single player Escalation is that now you can start a private sever and start it with one player instead of waiting for at least one other player.
Also, what do you mean new players are screwed? Do you mean the level unlock system? Meh, kind of. It's the same as CoD or the last game.
As has been stated, new players have no choice about what to equip and don't have upgraded equipment. I can stand firing for ages at someone that can take me down in one shot ebcause he's twenty levels above. For all it's faults, CoD doesn't have this problem.

I can't see how being 20 levels lower than someone else would cause that situation
I guess if it was a Titan that unlocked the Flak Shield and you're shooting it

Um? It's not like you get more hit points.
Destroyer starts with his best weapon imo.
Infiltrator can cloak / move fast.
Scientist can fly.

I wonder if those other character packs are going to contain new maps.
Yeah its not like it takes long to level up to get new weapons anyway, a couple of hours of conquest will see you get to level 10+. Heck in one match i just had 1500+ experience points in one 15 second fight. Due to taking out three people at once and all the bonuses it got me.
So what do people think are the best weapons, Not counting vehicle weapons mine would be the Pulsar Cannon aka the sticky grenade you can detonate at will with the huge radius. Followed by the Energon Harverster for Titans because hurah for stealing health.
Also a neat tip is pay attention to what map your on and pick your class accordingly. One of the small maps (Spire, Sewer, Abandoned) Use a titan or destroyer because they got explosive weapons and that makes sense when your fighting in a corridor. If its a bigger map with open spaces then use a scout or scientist and use your speed to snag all those capture points

Yeah, besides learning the map, best thing to do is pay attention. "We're losing A/B/C!" Ok, how fast is ticking down? That'll roughly tell you how many are at the control point and if you can defend it yourself or not.
The subsonic repeater as an Infiltrator is a beast. I swapped out the shotgun for it and I'm not regretting it one bit.

Which mod you looking forward to? Extra ammo, faster reload, or accuracy? It's always been a toss-up between the first two for me.
In a firefight I can usually get one kill per mag (tend to reload anyway as soon as they die). If I'm fighting more than one guy, I tend to like the quicker reload. But if I'm up against a titan, then I REALLY want that extra ammo.

Asserting that Titan is the worst off newbie wise is crazy.
Sure, Flak Shield is way the fuck better than whirlwind, but Scrapmaker and Energon Harvester are both superb weapons.

Also, wonder if this is a permanent thing with 2xp (well, double from the demo).
I haven't really struggled with leveling till 20 where now it's about 3-5 games a level instead of 2 or less.
Also, saw my 4th Prime already. Saw my first... thursday or friday I think.

I really wish some people on PC were playing CTF or Headhunter
Then again, since there is literally nobody playing these modes if I find another three people we could easily just cheap out the achievements
But I'd really like to actually play some goddamn Headhunter
I managed to get into one CTF game on the PS3, haven't succeeded with headhunter yet. Pretty confident those trophies are lost to me.

Don't know if you any of you guys saw this, sounds like solid changes to me:
We’ve been closely monitoring the class balance for the first week and have decided to make our first set of tweaks. Our game statistics and feedback from players show that we're off to a fantastic start with each class performing very well. However, within each class there is some room for improvement to make all the weapon, ability, and upgrade options equally viable:
Infiltrator
Scatterblaster damage increased to 15 per pellet from 12 – Those who got early access to the demo know the scatter blaster started off as a beastly weapon, we overshot our correction and we’re hopeful we've found the right setting.
Fireblast upgrade burn damage increased from 15 per second to 20 per second – The reduction in pellet damage was not being offset enough by the fire damage, so we’ve upped the fire damage a bit, each shot will do an extra 10 fire damage.
EMP Intercooler upgrade now changes the grenade recharge to 10 seconds instead of 7.5 – We know its super fun to run around throwing emp grenades willy-nilly, but it was too much. Besides, you can get the Intercooler pickup and still go crazy.
Scientist
Gear Shredder homing increased – This weapon is showing up as the weakest of the scientist weapons and we think the best way to improve it is to increase its homing function.
Sentry Damage increased from 8 to 10 per shot – The sentry was not quite giving the offensive boost we were hoping for, this should help.
Destroyer
Reduce the Thermo Rocket Cannon damage from 300 to 250 - The Destroyer was showing up as the most powerful class by a small margin and we think the Thermo Rocket Cannon is a big reason.
Chaos Rift Combuster Damage and Damage Radius significantly increased – You should be doing closer to 300 damage if you manage to hit a guy with both the initial blast and a cluster bomb. Hopefully this make the Combuster a better option.
Barrier Cooldown increased from 7 to 10 seconds – 7 was too fast, it was practically always available
Titan
Harvester damage reduced from 20 to 17 – This combination of damage output and healing was too much, we’re preserving the healing functionality and reducing damage.
EDK Techvolt damage increased to 140 from 115 – The beams look cool, but it needed a little more bite.
Flak Shield can absorb 500 damage instead of 666 – The flak shield was showing up as clearly being a better choice than whirlwind so we’re slightly reducing its power.
