Well if compare Hydro, which has a ton of cool set pieces and an entire tileset they never used again to something like Badwater, which is a series of flat plain hallways with the same old stuff, you can really see how impressive it is. I mean, how awesome looking are the final bases in hydro? Too bad hydro plays like garbage
The other night I discovered it was really fun to play as a pyro and roll with a heavy. We would get to an enemy and I would bounce it in the air as the heavy shot it.
You got 0 airshots while I was playing, Tyrannus got like 2, you being one them.
Also, nothing is more satisfying as a pyro then forcing a soldier to rocket jump and airshot him.
(I did this once when I first found out about airblast on an Arena server, soldier got sssssuuupppeeeerrr angry, it would have gotten me that ragequit achievement if I had a domination.)
Calling it: the Scout's milk item from the Polycount Pack will have one of two effects:
1) Faster running. Yes, faster running. Makes the Scout super ridiculously fast for a while.
OR
2) A deficit HP bonus. Being radioactive milk, it makes the Scout super-strong, awarding a 100 HP bonus (also functions as an increase to his maximum). Being radioactive milk, it later knocks 100 HP off of his current and maximum health, normalizing him. So it would let the Scout survive a failed ambush, but if he doesn't get to health, he's still screwed.

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
I love using it, but when I'm trying to get the groove for reflecting, it's in an odd spot that's between flare and arrow, where if I focus I can reflect one of those, but in between it fucks me up.
Kupi, don't be stupid, it will INCREASE HIS BONE STRENGTH, AND HE WILL GAIN MASSIVE MELEE ABILITIES
and considering those aren't allowed to be changed, welp
the third point is a joke, as is the first, but the long cap time on all of the points makes it seem defender oriented
very wide open for the first two points, which is cool i guess
ehhh
Thanks to everyone who jumped on with us to check it out.
I would change a lot of stuff to it, if I was allowed.
I'm going to continue to detail it. Hopefully it feels better after I do some work to it. I'll probably throw it up again after a week to see what the consensus is after some detailing, compared to before.
I know this is from a couple of pages ago, but you should make a "PA Edit" of the map, add in models and such to help fix the problems and just not submit that one, I'm probably gonna end up doing that anyway, but it'd probably be better if a real mapper did it instead of me, who has like... 3 hours? In SDK.
Ha, I actually thought about doing this. Making 2 version, one for the competition, then one for us with fixes to this horrible layout. Depends on how much time I have though.
Could you alter the layout with objects? Like, board up a doorway with metal sheets, or use stacks of crates and barrels to block an OP sniper sight line?

I think I said it before, but the airshot feature of the Direct Hit is almost entirely pointless, since the rockets will just straight up kill most classes in the game at close range

the only time it is really useful is if someone who isn't you knocked them up with an explosive
it can be really funny on soldiers who rocket jump towards your team
i've airshotted people accidentally because another soldier knocked them up with the regular rocket launcher as i shot them

No, afraid no.

Man, the bots in offline practice are fucking assholes. The pyro will chain-airblast you, set you on fire, then chain-airblast you until you die again.
One of these days I should learn how to reliably reflect things with the leafblower
My timing is always so abysmal though I'd rather not risk the inevitable rockets to the face while I learn
Play on some dodgeball servers and then learn to be patient and wait for the shot. I'm not nearly patient enough most of the time, but when I force myself to be I reflect more often.

Someone should edit Hydro to make it flooded.
And everything that's not flooded is on fire.
This is excluding Halloween maps like Harvest_event, cause that's LEAGUES ahead of everything else.
Harvest_event is probably one of the best maps of all time, capturing playability and gimmick very nicely.
Such a fun halloween.
Soon in Valve time.
Killing 3 enemies in one shot by shooting a pumpkin
So good
I've wanted to, though
it'd be really hard to top
:P
At first I was like
but then I was like...
I did kill myself with a reflected Direct Hit rocket and the soldier who fired it didn't get credit for the kill.
(Heh, Unde can't airshot.)
Well I say, that picture looks just like me IRL! 8-)
just can't get used to the direct hit's speed fast enough to do it reliably when i want to switch to it for easy airshots
i hope they fix at some point that killing yourself with the direct hit doesn't give finished off credit
valve is pretty great at fixing bugs that have been in for months aren't they
it is kind of nice to be that douchebag when you are the DH soldier though

like you press mouse 1, right
and then he goes "damn that was tasty"

but once you get the hang of the speed it's easier (at least for me) and funnier
plus being able to one shot 125 hp classes if they are near you is good
I love turning a corner as a sniper and instantly dying.
one is just quicker
I can't tell if you mean because of the DH or snipers.
Because, fuck snipers, right?
man being juggled with the rocket launcher is almost as painful as being juggled with airblasts, being able to do nothing about it
