Overheating pc?

midori_foxmidori_fox Registered User regular
My parents pc keeps crashing after being on for a few minutes. I went into the bios and it said the pc temp was running 100 - 105 degrees. I checked the fan and it said the cpu fan was ok but it says there is no system fan "n/a". Should I get another fan and install it on the pc? Or do you think something else is wrong? When the pc restarts after a crash you have the option for your pc to try and figure out what going on all i get is a blue screen with something about a possible hdd problem or virus. Any ideas? Also nvidia is always asking me to format my hdd for some reason.

That happened to my laptop too. I tried to restore the system but after a while, it came back. i think that I just overused it. After a while, it's not crashing anymore. I always make sure that there's fan directed to it whenever i use it. maybe you should let your pc be checked to really know what's wrong with it. :)

When was the last time someone got in there and dusted this thing out?

the amount of dust those heat sink fans can accumulate is impressive... perhaps the only thing more impressive is much even a little dust can hinder heat transfer from said heat sink into the air.
