Am I wrong to assume buying Pantheon unless some sort of bundle comes out tomorrow or in the future is a waste of time? I am assuming he is highly likely to be banned in nearly every game ever once that hits tomorrow.
Probably not. I don't think there are enough choices to cover Pants. He's pretty OP early game, but falls off late precipitously. If your team feeds the crap out of him -- which, to be fair, takes some serious care not to do -- he will ruin your game, but otherwise he'll just turn into a flake later on.

He is OP and even if he gets 2-3 kills before lvl 10 he is a fucking beast.

It just seems like anytime I have major issue with my lane Panth or Garen is always in the opponents mix, though one of the most fun games I have played was me with Nasus with a Panth partner vs a Panth Garen lane.

pants isn't a problem unless your ez feeds him 4 kills in 10 minutes and then afks. still pissed about that game.
i played twice last night, and the first game was pretty good until we lost a team fight and got pushed while aced. that wasn't a bad loss. the second game pants got fed and we had 1 afk and 1 veigar that didn't really know the character dc for half the game.
Step 1: Take this game really seriously
Step 2: Tell everyone on your team how fucking bad everything they do is
Step 3: Do terribly
Step 4: AFK in base to 'get back at the rest of the team'

He's also squishy as hell to the point where you'd think that he's a mage.

This guy seems to be on my team most games. My favorite was the guy who insisted we needed to surrender then was all hype when we won the game after his 4th failed surrender vote.
Had a Teemo, who after our team gave up a few early deaths, died around level 7 then decided that we were all noobs and decided to run around in our forest and do nothing but complain and initiate a surrender vote as often as possible. I realized that with out teemo, we weren't going to win, so I did vote yes on the first one, but no one else did. I then decided that that teemo was ticking me off so much, I decided the hell with it, and was gonna play it out. We actually did rather well, even aced the other team once. But we didn't have enough oomph to push, and we eventually lost.
We probably coulda won too if that teemo didn't have his head up his butt.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. ~ Terry Pratchett
I'm pretty new, level 10, and first time posting in the thread. Does anybody remember approx how many games played it took you to reach level 20?
With Tris, I've been buying the vampiric scepter first as I've found it helps me stay in my lane until at least lvl 7 or 8, and I'll use it for a bloodthirster later in the game.
Are there any bad choices in this item build? I read the discussion about merc treads, so will give those a shot instead of the ninja tabi.
Start: Vampiric Scepter
1st trip: Ninja Tabi + Madred's Razors
2nd trip: B.F. Sword if I can afford it, else Pickaxe
3rd onwards: work towards Bloodthirster, Madred's Bloodrazor
Late game: Frozen Mallet, or sometimes start working towards an Infinity Edge

That's not a BAD build or anything. Sometimes Madred's is really important due to lots of tanks, sometimes IE is just flat-out better with few/no highHP tanks.

Okay, so I want to talk about an item and get some opinions. Wit's End. Not a great item as you're combining two decent-but-not amazing pieces of gear. You do get a little dps increase off of the mana-burn, but it doesn't make a huge difference; however this item is the one way to see an increase in dps and magic res for carries. Thoughts?

How long have you been playing, or how many games?
We've only played together a few times, but I think a lot of it is a symptom of you being brought up several "tiers" in terms of enemy skill level that you just aren't prepared for.
At least when you play with the veterans of the game.
Map awareness is really important, and so is playing conservatively as you know. You just can't play too conservatively. You have to take risks. Just calculated risks. Not silly ones.

Rak. Play Tris for a bit. Or Teemo or some such. You will probably enjoy yourself a lot, and you can play very defensively with them. Also, go Ignite/Cleanse or Ghostwalk/Cleanse.

Just like other similarly priced items, Wits End is situational as well. Its damage is reduced by magic resist and it doesn't deal damage if the target doesn't have mana.

Step 3 - lane with pantheon.
if you are not yelling goal when you snipe someone with your ult
you make me sad

people will just counterpick a strong laning tank if you pick him

There are no escape plans with him, only watching yourself get raped whenever there's a need to run. Literally no way besides flash or his ult.
I just die over and over and over and over and over and over.
take ghost on him, much like every champion
if you need more escape plans then that, you are playing too offensively
plus he has a on command target stun
many more escape plans than a lot of other champions
I just get stunned, slowed, silenced or whatever and by then I'm usually down to 1/2 health.
Ghost doesn't help when trying to flee most of the time, I just get stunned and killed.

He has no CC, no escape mechanism, no other utility.
And he's not a turtle who grunts when you click on the map. So that's a downside.

to make it become a substantial dps increase for the person buying it, you need to get a lot of sustained whacks on someone
i forget the numbers, but most of the time you are better off with buying damage
plus you need substantial attack speed in the first place to make it worthwhile
wonder how it would be on trist
Right, but there are 0 damage + mag res items, right?
TylerJ on League of Legends (it's free and fun!)
that much is true, yes
but if you are a carry and need magic res, i would prefer you to just build your normal items and sneak a negatron cloak into your build somewhere
that way you get a nice chunk of mr, and can build into a banshee's if you are still getting shut down by a caster
Well, learning to play TF should at least teach you map awareness, which is probably the most important thing in this game.

Dunno about 20, but I just hit 30 this weekend at 145-98
I only played TF one round and got owned, but I usually get owned in a similar fashion with him.
I mean, I duno I'm probably just gonna not play TF for a bit.
When his survivability is lower than Fiddles, I'm just all set for now.

*cho'gath goes off into the jungle*
me: cho get mid, i said push mid they are down 1
me: why would you creep now
cho: feast stacks
why, feast stacks! of course! it is not like there are endless waves of minions that come from the lane we are pushing
it would be
improbable
despite being our 4.3k health guardian angel's tank he was also super timid
he would never initiate, and was SCARED OF TOWERS
it didn't help they had the most aggressive alistar i've ever seen, which is i guess how alistar should be played
