Everett appears to let pretty much anyone onto his compound and once they're there he lets them do anything without really knowing what's going on. And this is the guy who is obsessed with surveillance and finding out everything about people.

That whole segment was kind of weird, really.

First time through I tried to be all sneaky, expecting I would get the Maggie Chow treatment for trying to snoop around, but then I realized that Everett is a firm believer in "mi casa, su casa."

Those augs you have in the containment chambers? Yeah, you don't mind if I just hack these really quick...

I would have to check but I don't even think he goes hostile if you kill his maid. I've never tried attacking him before either. I'm pretty sure once I merged with Helios I eradicated all former members of the Illuminati.

I'm pretty sure I just sealed the doors to their houses and had takeout Chinese delivered every once in a while. Killing is so crude and inhumane.

Been a long time since I did a run-through of Deus Ex 1, but I can't believe I'm just now noticing a gaping plot hole:
Atanwe: "We're drugging you because we can't allow you to know Morgan Everett's location! There is no other way!"

Everett: "I need you to go do some shit for me. I radioed your trusted chopper pilot with my exact location."
It would have been great if you saw doodles on JC's face after that.

Atanwe probably is so used to drugging people that it would have been impossible for Everett to convince him to take any other plan of action.
Plus by that point you've probably killed the former leader of the Illuminati, swam in Everett's fishtank, stolen tons of stuff from him, talked with Alex about how you don't trust him (while most likely being recorded by 8 different things, including a (sentient?) program that knows more about you than you do) and become Everett's partner more or less. So you're sort of "in."

    Yeah but
if you've done all those things (besides becoming his partner), wouldn't he be even more interested in keeping his location a secret from you? You just spent 10 minutes fucking all his shit up. Besides, there's more than one chopper pilot in the world.

Couple ways you can look at it.
    1) Few good landing sites near the cathedral. Jock still needs to pick you up somewhere for that to work. This one probably doesn't hold any water considering how it picked you up after the warehouse mission, literally perched on a damn railing.

    2) Everett is less worried about a stealth helicopter making a discreet landing than an agent with at least two hostiles broadcasting directly into his brain walking up to the front door. MJ12 is not above having plainclothes agents stalking you - they do it in NYC, though the dude's somewhat obvious about it - so maybe Everett wasn't keeping the location secret from you.

    3) Perhaps the location of his mansion was less important than the means to get to it. Bear in mind Atanwe would have to haul an unconscious JC by himself, something metro security might object to; he'd need to get around quietly. The less anybody, including JC, knows about how Illuminati figures move in secret, the better.

    Just guesses, though.

Hm. Weird. You killed everybody while they were green/friendly? Never done that before.

Sounds like a bug. Have you tried getting back to Paul and seeing what he says? What does your Goals/Notes screen say?

No they went red before I killed them. Goal says to send the signal. Guess I'll go back to Paul and see what he has to say about it.

Yeah this is my first run through. Wasn't convinced at first but I love being able to do just about anything and still be able to proceed through the story

    Speaking of, Hong Kong:
So, is there any catch to the Dragon Tooth? It does 125 damage, enough to kill a MJ12 mech trooper in two hits to the front, 1 to the back.

No catch. For a lot of people the game basically turns into Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II once you get that, because it's basically a lightsaber.

Small relevant non-story spoiler that may not even be a spoiler depending on what you've done so far:
Men in Black are the one weakness of the Dragon's Tooth because they explode if killed

Its pretty neat. If the event works
Walter Simon's makes a remark about how none of the guards are responding to communique and assumes you killed/knocked them all out. He makes the typical threats about your kill switch and leaves.

I can't quite remember exactly which computer you're talking about but the answer is always "that is one option but there are other ways to do it." There is almost no objective in Deus Ex that forces you to do it in one way, and many of the ones that I thought were like that turned out to have alternate approaches that I only noticed in subsequent playthroughs.

I can't remember the password, the last few times I played DX I just used the ICE breaker, but IIRC the logins from any of the scientists who were in the break room in your previous visit to Versalife will work. One login is MLundquist, MChow should also work, but again I forget the password.

There might be a code on a datacube in the little locker thing in the room to the left if you can break that open.
