A little help with Slim PS2

I'm trying to play a DVD in my slim PS2 on an SD 4:3 TV, but it turns blank after starting up because I think it's stuck in progressive scan mode due to my using it on my HDTV that I don't currently have access to. Is there a button combination to get it back to interlaced mode?

    Start it up without a disc and reset it defaults?

    Thats all I can think of.

    yeah, I tried searching through the options but there's nothing for DVD playback.

    Go into the system configuration and turn component video out to RGB.
