While I also punched him, that was really his mission and the objective was to kill Vido, so you compromised it to be noble about the civilians.
The mission brief says the objective is to liberate the facility, it doesn't mention killing Vido. Zaeed just goes all nuts, you know, because of his little grudge.
well killing Vido is a good way to liberate it
it is also still Zaeed's mission, and the only relevance it has to Shepard is to keep Zaeed completely focused on the BIG mission

Grudge or not, killing Vido wasn't worth letting all those workers die.
Zaeed needed reminding. I just happened to use my fist as way of doing so.
I agree, I punched some sense into him also. But it's not nearly as egregious as Wrex.
Yes but Wrex is a hardcore badass killer. Probably a lot harder than Zaaed, and a lot less psychotic as well.
My Shepherd worked on the idea that if he was going to break into Saren's facility of doom filled with Geth and Krogan and whoever else he might want to take the msot experienced and amongst the most dangerous of his entire squad with him. Also my Shepherd was an awesome space-hero who never left a man behind and treated his troops with respect. Apart from Ashley, who gets dumped on Virmire so that Shepherd can get some guilt-free Miranda pie in the next game.

Forget what Zaeed wants, I'm playing a soldier on this playthrough and I want the extra rifle upgrade, not the heavy weapon upgrade. Sorry refinery workers.
On a side note, I'm trying for the "incinerate" achievement. Do I have to use an engineer and blast them with the incinerate power or do fire bullets work?
Zaeed's stories confirm him as a bigger badass than Wrex.
zaeed is bursting to tell shepard what he has done in his life. he tries to be all strong and silent like wrex, but ultimately he fails, because he is not wrex.
wrex hasn't even told you half the balla things he has done.

both, i think, though incendiary ammo only has a chance to light the enemy up like a smoke, wheras incinerate always does. when they have no armour left and they get hit big a bullet that explodes in flames and then they start hopping around trying to pat out the fire, that's an incineration.

zaeed has his own style, man, namely killing shit (unlike Wrex who couldn't kill Aleena) and not dying (unlike Wrex who got knocked down like a bitch and didn't get up)
seriously, Wrex's best story is "well one time I hunted this asari and was such a bad shot that I ran out of ammo for my infinite ammo gun and then she got away"
The dude's silent because if you actually talk to him, his whole tough guy routine shatters. Forget Zaeed, this resoundingly average krogan merc isn't even on the level of Jack or Liara. Name one exceptionally awesome thing Wrex has done.

You forgot that the other half of Zaeed's awesomeness is getting everybody else on his team killed. I'd say that makes Wrex a far better choice.

I don't think Zaeed got his team killed. I think he just accepted suicide missions and just refused to die.

Well I'm not saying Zaeed is better/cooler than Shepard by any means. I'm, just saying Zaeed is a tough son-of-a-bitch who isn't the reason his team dies.
While I also punched him, that was really his mission and the objective was to kill Vido, so you compromised it to be noble about the civilians.

Pretty much. Given that power cell crates are just sitting around everywhere, it's not a tough one. If it weren't the case...
And -Tal was just looking for an excuse to frag Wrex, that's common knowledge.

Fire bullets never seemed to do the trick for me. But then I found Mordin and realized that he's great so it wasn't really an issue.

So I can get the achievement by having someone else incinerate? Cool.
nearly every mission he's been on, he's been focused on his own success/survival. he's never been part of a team, just been one of a group of independent-minded hired guns. shit hits the fan, zaeed is looking out for numero uno
imo the paragon punchin' route at the refinery was to demonstrate to zaeed that this is different
he even acknowledges it at the end - realizing that this isn't another job on generic merc base X. he won't be making it back alone. he NEEDS more than jessie this time

the collector shit is hard as fuck with the stupid rotating scion. miranda and grunt just stand there and take the shock wave.
Stick them under cover right where you start. Stay under cover yourself along the edges and don't bother even trying to pop that scion other than when there's nothing better to shoot at. Nail the little dudes before you deal with Harbinger unless Harbinger's getting right up in your face, then focus fire his bitch ass down.
It's one of the hardest sections in the game for most people; just keep at it.

i will definitely try this when i get home. has anyone had problems with team mates not following orders to move to s specific piece of cover and stay there?
Dodge the shockwaves? You only have to be behind cover and they won't harm you at all.
well, dodging the shockwave isnt so hard for myself, but the ai squad mates usually get hit by it within the first 2 second of the battle and are knocked out. its hard to kill all those dudes on insanity by myself.

Incorrect. Shockwave hits through cover.
This is correct.
However, Grunt is a shockwave sponge. If you move him up he will get them instead of you allowing you time to take out the Scions.
I am still confident in saying that this was by far the most difficult portion of my Insanity playthrough (as a Soldier).
EDIT: Totally unrelated I was just dicking around with the ME2 demo on steam and I came away impressed at how good the graphics are on the 360. The graphics on the PC are much more crisp, to be sure, but I didn't really feel like I was playing something that was far and away more visually impressive than it is on the 360. Granted I was only running it at 1680x1250 but that's significantly higher than the 360 runs at.
Also I was surprised to find that I actually prefer playing the game with a gamepad. Though, in all fairness that's more likely because I've got about 7 playthroughs of ME and 2 playthroughs of ME2 under my belt, on the 360, at this point.
In the Collector ship platform section (on Insanity), I just took the first bit of cover I could get (IE, right in front of you). The scion's attacks all fell just short of hitting me, for the entire battle.

Incorrect. Shockwave hits through cover.
I've completed the game 3 times (including insanity). I have never been hit by shockwave when crouched behind cover, it just goes right over me.
The only threat on that section of the ship is harbinger because he will run right up to you. Everything else pretty much stays at a distance and you can pick them off at your leisure.

Yeah. I've found parking your squadmates right on the back edges of the first platform helps.
That being said it leaves them pretty open to other attacks so you have to hurry up and finish the other guys off.
Also, I wish I knew how the aggro bar in ME2 works. It seems to be "target Shepard ALWAYS!"
@Rami: I assure you, shockwaves can hit behind cover. Consider yourself lucky I guess.
I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, my last playthrough finished about a week ago and it's fresh in my mind, I've always just sat behind cover to deal with the scions. The only annoying ones are the pair you fight before the first praetorian, because you have to move around so much to deal with the husks you can't sit behind cover so much.

OK so here is something my friends and I have been trying to figured out:
Armor aside, incendiary ammo or disruptor rounds for husks? They are alive but also robotic/cybernetic...

Yeah, I got all the tech/biotic achievements despite playing a soldier.
Really. All that section needed was a "Dodge the fucking shockwave!" order and it would have been a lot easier.
Not to say those things aren't hard to dodge in small spaces, but they don't even try.

If only I could punch Morinth
Maybe if I punched Miranda just right her teeth would be knocked into some kind of presentable position

maybe we are so used to looking at un-perfect teeth that we don't realize how perfect they are.
Miranda would punch you back, and then
Go ahead, she doesn't have any feeling in her face anyways.
