So I was taking a peek at the ME2 add-on area on XBL and it looks like they got a new gun pack available for downloading for 160 points called the Firepower Pack.
The weapons are a pistol with a laser-sight called the Phalanx, a supposed hybrid Assault/Sniper rifle (useable under anyone with Assault Rifle training) called the Mattlock, and the three-barreled Geth Plasma Shotgun, supposedly both chargeable in a probable Carnage fashion and rapid-fire shots at long-range.

Soon to be the favorite of elderly ME players everywhere!

Fired up the new weapon pack and took my Femshep to Overlord to test them out. I was super disappointed in them during the first firefight, as I found them weak as hell, barely putting a dent in the geth. Then I realized that it was still on Insanity, and the weapons were doing more than an appropriate amount of damage.
Basically, they rock pretty hard, and the geth shotty is boss when you power it up - knocks half the shields away from a Prime with one blast. The Old Mannon (Mattlock) is like thunder in your paws, and the pistol seems to bark just the right way.
Good weapon pack. Was hoping for some more armor to come with it, but fun to play with.
They should. Tim probably killed or injured about 800 humans for each of them.
Actually, according to the in-game EMs sent by TIM about the new weapons...
...EDI convinces him to hook you up with the rifles via a 'low tech doesn't suck' argument, a cell scores you the Geth shotguns and Jacob's the one who picked up the new pistol (which leaves TIM a little irate apparently since he and Jacob end up discussing it).
They should. Tim probably killed or injured about 800 humans for each of them.
Jesus guys
Cerberus has its moments
For the record I felt a little conflicted about giving TIM the middle finger the first time - I did it because that Reaper was made of liquid humans. Fuck that. Those people rest in peace.
I think this game raises a pretty serious question: what is the value of life and how do you value it? In Mordin's loyalty mission, Maelon's data is the fruit of Krogan lives. Is it better to make something of their deaths, or would that mean corruption? Blood on your hands? Is it better to let them lay in peace?
well the genophage needs to stay that is clear enough, krogan themselves are the source of their problem
but
you can't apply the morality argument to the base, the only thing worse than using it would be to waste it. what's done is done, but we can at least benefit from it. Godwin's Law: Nazi medical experiments were terrible, they still provided valuable information.
These ME comedy love songs are killing me, KILLING ME. You monsters, I can't stop laughing.
You know what you get if you stop laughing?
The priiiiiiiiize.
But yeah, all the femshep romances are pretty awful. Garrus is whiny, Jacob is some blaxploitation porno star, and Thane... yeah. I'd just stick with a Kaidan/Liara romance from ME1.
Mr. Shepard's romances in ME2 aren't much better. What with Miranda and her giant, gravity-altering teeth, Jack and her...awkward...crying...

Yes but Nazi experiments weren't directed by Reapers.
Or... were they?
Actually no, no I'm pretty sure they weren't.

she tells you straight up "if you just want to fuck me, let's do it right now"
declining her offer and romancing further is asking for emotional emotions
See, now I'm sad that I'm film shep and can't work through Jack and her issues, my maleshep is renegade and will fuck her for poops and giggles and them tap Dat Ass to round it off.
Do I have to finish playthrough 2 with my fem shepard infiltrator or can I load ME2 with Playthrough 1?
which DLC?
if you're talking about Bring Down the Sky, then yes in terms of making ME1 more fun. not much carries over to ME2, except a quick reference in the news reports in ME2.
if you're talking about the other DLC, nah. it's a little boring really.
i'm confused about what you're asking on the playthroughs though...
I wish they would throw a few of these packs through the Cerberus Network. I thought that was the whole point of it, to give tiny bite-sized updates like a weapon or a piece of armor, while we wait to pay for the bigger things.
I do like how half the vanilla starting weapons are totally obsolete now
It is pretty weird
Speaking of weapons I didn't initially like the Revenant because I enjoy popping three to the head with my Vindicator and it's so innacurate, but bullet hell is pretty fun too

I don't know...most of the starting weapons were pretty meh compared to the other options before DLC...
The starting assault rifle and shotgun are pretty much outclassed by the other options
yeah, but you couldn't replace them from the very beginning like you can with DLC weapons.
but the cool thing is, if you don't care about min/maxing (and you shouldn't in this game), every squadmate should be able to have a unique loadout now

Yeah. I usually do that. Mainly with snipers.
Thane gets the rapid-fire sniper, Garrus gets the single shot, Zaeed gets the blue one(forgot the name), and Legion gets the death cannon.
Pistols and Shotguns I usually always use the Carnifex and Eviserator. The Carnifex because it's the stronger pistol and squaddies have infinite ammo, and the Eviservator because of its superior range. Grunt always gets the Krogun though since it suits him.
I tend to mix and match Assault rifles and SMGs though.
Oh Jesus guys, the new pistol is the BEST one yet. I do not say that lightly.
It actually IS a goddamn hand cannon. Each shot does not only a ridiculous about of damage, but the laser sight means you get perfect aim at medium range. It sounds like a goddamn monster too.
CRACK-BOOM, CRACK-BOOM, CRACK-BOOM.
It is the only pistol my renegade will use from now on. The matchlock rifle is sweet too, and I haven't even tested the geth shotgun I'm having so much fun with the pistol.

Versus, you know, raping Garrus. It's an odd dichotomy.
I haven't picked up any DLC from Overlord, spent a lot of money on new GPU setup. There's a lot of DLC weapons, and as it stands, I'll probably get the fraction of them that actually seem interesting. 97% of the game can be beaten with the Vindicator or the semi-automatic sniper rifle. Still, the option to get them is nice.

That Turian armor is so revealing! (alternate punctuation: ?)
I've decided I'm going to start a new ME1 character, a Soldier. Go with the background choices I haven't had with my other two Shepards, and see what happens if I never recruit Wrex. Then in ME2 I'll go Soldier again, so I can try out all the new DLC weapons, since I've done all the missions with my other ME2 Shepards (or at least the vast majority of them).
taking all the weapons as a soldier is kinda funny, since they are all quite low-ammo variants, so you end up switching quite a bit, and you're buggered if you get caught in close range with the mattlock. sound design is fantastic though, the AR sounds like people banging bricks together. not so fond of the pistol, the laser sight is a little hard to aim since it's smaller than the crosshairs normally.
oh and overlord is gorgeous and awesome and that ending was horriffic. and TIM didn't know a thing about it, that's nice. cockend.
can't wait for the shadow broker thing, but i think i actually wouldn't mind a new hub world. you know, like illium, except illium was basically a straight line

why don't you ask me about them while i flex
"Okay Shepard."
i mean the last shot of the crew is fixing the lower deck, what happened to boozing it up after you save the galaxy and get everyone out alive
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)

Yeah. When I said the romances were horrible.
I mean all of them. Male and female.

i have fond memories of the glitch that let me kill Enyala with the Widow
There's just not enough opportunities to shoot mans, I need a horde mode or something
paying for missions i don't mind, but armor and the like? i have to be sold on it
either price it like JC2 DLC or make it free

footage of new weapons
haven't listened to it but the shotgun looks pretty good
the pistol looks underpowered compared to the carnifex, though. on insanity it would still be chewing up those krogan
